1 . Today, video game consoles (控制器) provide hours of entertainment in homes around the world. However, early in the history of video games the best games were in arcades (游戏机厅). If it wasn't for innovators (创新者) like Nolan Bushnell and his company Atari, video games may have never moved from the video arcade into the home.
Then, developers started to make video game consoles that could be used at home with televisions. The first game systems, like Magnavox Odyssey, were more limited than the systems available in video arcades.
Hoping to improve on Magnavox's attempt, Atari developed its 2600 home video game console in the late 1970s. After creating some of the biggest video arcade hits, Atari's goal was to bring the feeling of the video arcade into the home.
Sadly, it wouldn't last. Many companies wanted to profit from the home video game trend, so the market was soon flooded with poor quality games.
A.The 2600 was really a huge success. |
B.They also lacked creativity in their game design. |
C.Simple programs were all that computers could do. |
D.It looked like arcades were the future of video games. |
E.This new format secured home video games' position. |

G.This led to the sales of consoles decreasing in 1983 and 1984. |
