The other day, I discover I couldn't move my right arm and fingers after sleeping through a flight. Having diagnosed me with neural injury, the doctor suggested I could try acupuncture(针灸). So I followed his advices and began my treatment. Dozens tiny needles were inserted across my arm and fingers. I dared not move, because even a small change of position could cause a acute pain. Two weeks went by since I could eat a meal with chopsticks and it took a month for my arm and fingers to return back to their normal functions. I was very amazing at how magic these needles were. That I had always considered old-fashioned and useless turned out to be of great use. I hope acupuncture, with its help I recovered, will continue to bring health to other people.

3 . Blowing our nose, burping (打饱嗝)after dinner and pooping       (排便)…Unpleasant as they are, these things, according to Live Science, make up “the impolite science of the human body”.

Snot (鼻涕)

Snot's job is to protect our body from harmful viruses. Quite often, dirt, ash, or sand fill the air we breathe. But thankfully, snot stops these unhealthy things, which are taken out of our nose when we blow it.

Apart from protecting our nose, snot can tell us whether we’re healthy or not according to its appearance. When it’s clear and colorless, that’s a sign of good health. If it turns green or yellow, however, it could be a sign that our body is being attacked by a virus.

Gas

From drinking fizzy (起泡的)drinks to eating food, we often breathe in gases like carbon dioxide, which end up in our stomach. Naturally, if we take in too much gas, our stomach will be filled with pressure and we may suffer from pain and cramps(痉挛).To stop this from happening, burping is an effective way to get these gases out of our stomach.

Occasional burping benefits our body. However, burping too much isn’t a good sign. That’s because it may suggest that we’re suffering from a digestive disorder.

Poop

Pooping is an extremely important function of the body. Every time we eat. the food is passed through our digestive system. Once our body has taken everything it needs from the food, it leaves our body as poop.

And though it’s gross, checking our poop after we go to the bathroom could tell us more about our health.

1. What does it suggest if snot is green?
A.There might be dirt in it.B.It is protecting our nose.
C.You are very healthy.D.Your body might be fighting a virus.
2. What do we know about burping from the article?
A.Fizzy drinks make people burp more than food does.
B.People may suffer from pain or cramps when burping.
C.It makes gases like carbon dioxide leave our stomach.
D.Burping a lot can make digestive disorders go away.
3. What does the underlined word "gross’’ in the paragraph probably mean?

5 . An 11-year-old girl from Belthangady, India, recently made news headlines for having around 60 dead ants pulled from her eyes. As for how the insects got there, some doctors thought they entered her body through the ears.

Last week, the girl, known only as Ashwini, started complaining of severe pain in her eyes. She told her parents that she felt there was something stuck in her eyes, and when they checked, they did find a small ant in one of her eyes. They didn’t pay much importance to it, as they assumed the insect had gotten there by accident, but it wasn’t long before the girl again started reporting pain in her eyes. They discovered more dead ants, and this time, they took her to hospital.

A local doctor told Ashwini’s parents that the insects must have first entered her body through the ears and then somehow made their way to her eyes. He gave her some eye-drops to help with the irritation(刺激), but the girl still has 5 to 6 ants pulled from her eyes daily. A week ago, the Daily Mail reported that Ashwini’s eyes produced around 60 dead ants in a period of 10 days.

As doctors in Belthangady were left scratching their heads about how the ants reached Ashwini’s eyes or what they could do to stop the unusual phenomenon, she was taken to an eye hospital in Moodabidri, where her family hope to get some answers.

IB Times reports that Ashwini’s parents feared she had been affected by some evil spirit, so they also took her to an astrologer(占星家) who told them that the ants in the eyes were caused by something called Naga Dosha. But who knows?

1. Why did Ashwini recently make news headlines?
A.Because of her love for insects.B.Because of her extraordinary skills.
C.Because of her strange experience.D.Because of her abilities to control ants.
2. How did Ashwini’s parents react when finding an ant in her eye?
A.They didn’t take it seriously.B.They tried their best to comfort her.
C.They sent her to hospital immediately.D.They didn’t think it was just an accident.
3. The underlined part in paragraph 4 most probably means “       ”.
A.feeling angry aboutB.showing disagreement about
C.being optimistic aboutD.feeling puzzled about
4. What can be inferred about Ashwini from the text?
A.Her eyes no longer produce dead ants.
B.Eye-drops are of little help to her eyes.
C.The dead ants cause no harm to her eyes.
D.Only the astrologer has found out the truth.
