Testerld Nora Langdon spent many days a week at the Royal Oak Gym, training for lifting contests. She has become a(n)     1     (outstand) idol to people of all ages.

“On the first day I started going to the gym, I went home that night and told     5     (I) I’d never go back again     6     it was too much for me,” Langdon told Good Morning America. “Then I heard a voice telling me to go back. So I went back and here I’m today.”

Langdon has set 19 world     10     (record) and quickly became one of Michigan’s best in her age range. Although Langdon has achieved a lot, she shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

The Canadian study looked at children aged six and then ten.Professor Linda Pagani said:“We worked with information     6    (provide) by parents and teachers to compare kindergarteners’ activities with their classroom activities as they grew     7    .By the time they reached the fourth grade,kids who played structured sports were     8    (clear) better at following instructions and     9    (remain) focused in the classroom.There is something special to the sporting environment—perhaps the sense of belonging to a team or a special group with a common goal—that appears to help kids understand     10     importance of respecting the rules and honouring responsibilities.”

Table tennis, also known as ping pong, is the     1    (nation) sport China. On average, 10 million Chinese people play ping pong in     2     single day.

Ping pong is built on Chinese culture, down to the roots. Ping pong tables     3    (see) in almost every park, which means that the ping pong experience is practically at everyone's doorstep.

In China, the government plays a huge part in developing sports. Children talented in table tennis attend special schools in     4     they are set aside to grow their talents.

Many countries have only one “World Class” ping pong player, but China has a pool of great talent. Ping pong is a game of Chinese people. They own it. The rest of the world borrows it from them.

Lake Baikal in southern Siberia is the largest freshwater lake in the world. Every winter when the lake     1    (freeze) over for half the year, 80-year-old Lyubov Morekhodova will put on the same ancient skates that     2     (use) for decades and glide across the ice wherever she needs to go. She was interested in skating at     3     early age. As a child, she often skated about 2.5 miles each way to school and back. And her passion for skating became even     4     (strong) with time. After her     5    (retire), she skates a half hour each way to the local village     6     (do) her shopping every day. With temperatures often reaching lows of minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s hard to imagine such an old woman making this journey every day!
