1 . Navigation skills seem to come naturally to some, but others aren’t so lucky.     1     Firstly, it’s a good idea to put the Satellite Navigation away. In a University of Nottingham study, drivers who’d followed step-by-step GPS instructions found it harder to work out where they’d been and even failed to notice they’d been past some places twice from different angles.     2     At least, the amount of mental energy it requires means it’s more likely to stick in your mind.

3     It’s important to notice what’s around you — in all directions. Instead of staring straight ahead, make sure you look up, down and behind you as well. This will come in particularly useful when you're doing the journey in reverse — even if it’s just finding your way back from the toilet in a restaurant. Another tip? Taking photographs or writing notes at key locations can act as hints to stick them in your memory.

Finally, try to relax when you’re on unfamiliar ground.     4     But this sudden burst of anxiety will only increase your mental load and prevent you from calmly working out which way to go.

Ultimately, your sense of direction is a use-it-or-lose-it skill.     5     So now’s the time to start exploring!

A.Staying alert is key, too.
B.Is it possible to improve your sense of direction?
C.Sticking to the routes you already know won't help.
D.It’s all too easy to panic if you suspect you may be lost.
E.It allows you to get a sense of how everywhere fits together.
F.Memorizing the route before setting out, instead, has its benefits.
G.If you re sick of getting lost, here’s how to start finding your way.

2 . Last year I took a flight to Bangkok managed by Arab Airlines Etihad. The service there was very good. During that flight we were given large comfortable headphones, pillows and disposable cosmetic bags with earplugs, socks, a bandage for eyes. This time my friend and I flew from Moscow to Delhi. The flight was managed by Aeroflot. The service on this flight was not that satisfying.     1

After we obtained a visa upon arrival, passed through passport control and found our backpacks in the pile on the floor we came out from the airport building.     2

We approached to the more or less impressive booth that says “Prepaid taxi”,     3     After we paid, the cashier gave us a bill and we were immediately seated into the car. Let’s go.

4       He made a call to the hotel without any result and tried to explain to us that there were some blocked roads. It was not clear whether he was joking or not.

5       In a word, there was a mistake in the hotel name on the booking, com website, as there are several hotels of the chain called OYO Rooms, but there were no specific names mentioned in the reservation.

So we barely found one of the hotels of this chain and the man on the reception was not sure that we made reservation in this hotel, but it was late and we probably looked tired, so he gave us a room eventually.

Room was a little bit gloomy. Sheets were of course dirty, but after we drank a cup of tea we successfully fell asleep.

A.where we were warmly welcomed.
B.The taxi driver did not know where to go, neither did we.
C.We were just given a blanket and an uncomfortable headphone.
D.The taxi driver knew the route very well and we were soon in the hotel.
E.We were immediately surrounded by taxi men, as in most countries in the world.
F.where we order a taxi to the hotel that was situated not far away from the airport.
G.Thanks to the navigator in the phone of my friend, we reached the street that was mentioned in the hotel address.

3 . Travel blogging (博客) is a journal that the whole world can read and it is the main reason behind me for setting up my own travel blog.     1     Nowadays everyone is writing about their travels. Here are seven reasons why you should join the army and get writing.

Remember your trip. The biggest advantage of having a travel blog is providing you with a great way to remember your trip.     2     But writing online means you can type it up, including photos and you can keep your memories forever.

3     If you keep it basic, having a travel blog won’t cost you anything. However, if you want to develop your blog, it may cost you more such as paying for hosting. There are a lot of free blog hosting platforms out there including Wordpress and Blogger that are worth trying and they won’t cost you a dollar.

4     It can often take a lot of effort to stay in touch with those hundreds of people you met backpacking (徒步旅行) on your travels. But with all the social media platforms around these days it is certainly a lot easier. Alongside this, if you have your own travel blog, it means you are regularly updating (更新) your adventures online with all your friends.

Inspire others.     5     Along the way you will get to meet so many people who will thank you for inspiring them to take that first trip away from home or you may have encouraged a recent graduate to save enough money to backpack through Asia.

A.It doesn’t cost you anything.
B.Earn some money through blogging.
C.Many people want to be inspired by others.
D.Keep in touch with those you met on the road.
E.I set up Sophie’s Suitcase for both my friends and family to read.
F.The biggest enjoyment for many bloggers is inspiring other people.
G.Much like a travel journal, it enables you to record the best memories of your travels.
