My Winter Holiday Plan

Next week, I     1     (be) on my winter holiday. My whole family     2     (fly) to Beijing from Melbourne on Monday and arrive at 10:00 a.m.. After lunch, through the whole afternoon we     3     (visit) the Summer Palace. The next morning, we will visit the Palace Museum and we     4     (walk) and shopping along Wangfujing Street till the night. On Wednesday, we     5     (go) to visit the Great Wall. It will be a great experience for me to drive three hours among the mountains. Then we will go sightseeing in Shichahai and visit National Museum of China.On Friday, we     6     (make) a trip to Zhangjiakou and on Saturday morning, we’ll go back to Beijing. Most excitedly, we     7     (watch) Beijing Opera at the Mei Lanfang Theatre in the whole evening. Then on Sunday morning, we     8     (have) to return to Melbourne. I think we might be very tired but it must be absolutely worthwhile.

Last December my mother and I     1    (fly) to London. The first thing we did was to go on a bus sightseeing tour.

This is the best way to see all the sights and learn all about the history of a city. By the time the tour was over it was dark. The Christmas lights were very colorful. And     2     really impressed me was how so many people made     3    (they) way home through the heavy traffic on bicycles. I was looking forward to spending the next day in Oxford Street with all its     4    (amaze) shops. And what     5     experience that was! We bought a ticket for the underground and could go everywhere very quickly.

We spent all morning shopping and admiring the Christmas displays inside the shops and out in the streets. Then we went to a wax museum     6    (call) Madame Tussauds (杜莎夫人蜡像馆), which had a lot of wax     7    (figure) of famous people. My mother took a picture of me     8    (stand) between Prince Charles and Prince Harry. From there we took a taxi to Buckingham Palace, the home of the two princes, to watch The Changing of the Guard but     9    (fortunate) we couldn’t really see well as there were thousands of tourists waiting     10    (take) photos of the ceremony.

Wang Kun and Wang Wei are brother and sister. They have dreamed of    1    (take) a great bike trip.     2    was Wang Wei who first had the idea to cycle along the Mekong River. They    3    (ride) bicycles to travel along the Mekong River,    4    source is in Qinghai Province. When it    5    (enter) Southeast Asia, it travels slowly through hills and low valleys and the plains where rice grows. Last year, I took a seven-day-long trip to London. I was in great     1    (excite), and I visited quite a few tourist sites. However,       2     left me the deepest impression was St Paul’s Cathedral. It has the heaviest church clock in the United Kingdom,       3    (weigh) 16 tons. I took a tour through this big and beautiful church,       4     took about two hours. Not far from the church is the River Thames. I went there       5     a trip later in the day. During the boat ride I passed by a lot of historical       6     (place). When the tour was over I went back to the hotel. There were a couple of hours       7    (leave) before I had to leave the hotel for the airport. Then a brilliant idea       8     (come) across my mind that I could go and see a football game. I booked a last-minute ticket to a match between Fulham and Blackburn River. The game       9     (hold) at Craven Cottage stadium.

On my way to the airport, I looked back at my trip. Time had flown very       10     (rapid), but it had been a very fun and interesting week.

One of the most     1     (relax) way to travel is a cruise. I went    2    a voyage with my family right before I started college.It was so enjoyable    3    when it came time to head home, I didn’t want to leave. A cruise was pretty much everything I thought it would be.But who would have known that could be so     4     (many)fun!

Everything is     5     (take) care of for you, and you just need to show up for dinner. You can enjoy amazing food in the ship’s many dining rooms and have     6     wonderful ocean view every day. It was filled with buffets, lots of drinking, and large amounts of time at the pool.

You can experience     7       (usual) local cultures when the ship stops at different seaside destinations . Of course, if the ship stays at a city for several days, you can even check in at a local hotel for a few nights, so you can see more of the local     8       (sight).

Not only did I find the whole experience fascinating and a great opportunity to people-watch, but I actually liked being on the ship itself. I was     9     (determine) to step foot on another cruise ship after     10       (graduate)from college.

I’m Richard,     1     exchange student from the UK. During the October holiday, my parents and I went to Xi’an     2     (see) the Terrocotta Army. The story of the Terrocotta Army is     3     (extreme) unbelievable. It’s     4     (amaze) that there are more than 8,000 statues, and no one     5     modern times knew about them until the 1970s.We also visited the Shaanxi History Museum, which     6     (know) as a “Chinese Treasure House.” Of course, the Xi’an City Wall and a few other famous sights also left us a deep     7     (impress).Though tired, we enjoyed     8     (us) during the trip. The trip is so wonderful     9     we’re looking forward to     10     (explore) other big cities in China.

Since my last letter to you, I have had a little adventure of     1     (I) own. Early this month, my mother and I took a     2     (fly) to Dunhuang, in the north-west of China. The desert out there was really quite amazing—I had never seen so much sand in my life! While we were there, we     3     (arrange) with a tour company to ride.     4    (camel). I was very excited because this was the first time I had seen one up     5     (closely). We had hoped that we would get to see some other wildlife on our trip, but sadly we didn't.

Since you are going to the Sahara, I have some advice—be sure     6     (bring) a large hat and a shirt with long sleeves—you'll need these     7     protection. The sun can be so brilliant you'll need to keep covered or you'll get     8    (burn)—my cheeks were red for days after my trip. And another thing, you'll need to keep.     9     good supply of water with you, since it is so dry and hot.
