1 . 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

Have you seen people who take pictures of food for more than 10 minutes before eating? How about those who beautify their selfie (自拍) so much that they can’t be____? There must be one or more who ____ in your social media. No matter _____they choose to share, they share the best but the most unreal.

Take my friend Chen for example. Every time we went to a restaurant, she would not take a _____ until all the dishes we ____were on the table. Then, she would spend five minutes on______the dishes in a seemingly random but in fact ____ order. Then the most important part: taking pictures. After that, she would choose one of the ____ and click in the filter(滤镜) app. The food eventually looked 10 times more delicious than it really was, but we had no ____ to really enjoy it — it all went cold. Actually Chen's real life is much less elegant. For example, she hates to wash the dishes, so she leaves them in the sink for____.

Many people care too much about others’ opinions and try too hard to ___ others. They find it hard to be ____ and to accept themselves, and thus they are afraid to show their ____ life on social media. What they are trying to prove is____what they lack in reality. But this will not bring any_____ to reality, as they still____ the same old pattern of life.

If they really want an elegant life, they should put more____ into achieving it_____fabricating(伪造) it. Being more confident, _____themselves and trying their best to be better is much more meaningful than_____ their life on social media.

2 . You get anxious if there’s no wi-fi in the hotel or mobile phone signal up the mountain. You feel upset if your phone is getting low on power, and you secretly worry things will go wrong at work if you’re not there. All these can be called “always on” stress caused by smart phone addiction.

For some people, smart phones have liberated them from the nine-to-five work. Flexible working has given them more autonomy(自主权)in their working lives and enabled them to spend more time with their friends and families. For many others though, smart phones have become tyrants(暴君)in their pockets, never allowing them to turn them off, relax and recharge their batteries.

Pittsburgh-based developer Kevin Holesh was worried about how much he was ignoring his family and friends in favour of his iPhone. So he developed an app — Moment — to monitor his usage. The app enables users to see how much time they’re spending on the device and set up warnings if the usage limits are breached(突破). “Moment’s goal is to promote balance in your life,” his website explains. “Some time on your phone, some time off it enjoying your loving family and friends around you.”

Dr. Christine Grant, an occupational(职业的)psychologist at Coventry University, said, “The effects of this ‘always on’ culture are that your mind is never resting, and you’re not giving your body time to recover, so you’re always stressed. And the more tired and stressed we get, the more mistakes we make. Physical and mental health can suffer.”

And as the number of connected smart phones is increasing, so is the amount of data. This is leading to a sort of decision paralysis(瘫痪)and is creating more stress in the workplace because people have to receive a broader range of data and communications which are often difficult to manage. “It actually makes it more difficult to make decisions and many do less because they’re controlled by it all and feel they can never escape the office,” said Dr. Christine Grant.

1. What’s the first paragraph mainly about?
A.The popularity of smart phones.B.The progress of modern technology.
C.The signs of “always on” stress.D.The cause of smart phone addiction.
2. Kevin Holesh developed “Moment” to ________.
A.research how people use their mobile phones
B.help people control their use of mobile phones
C.make people love parents and friends around
D.increase the fun of using mobile phones
3. What’s Dr. Christine Grant’s attitude towards “always on” culture?
A.Confused.B.Positive.
C.Doubtful.D.Critical.
4. According to the last paragraph, a greater amount of data means ________.
A.we will become less productive
B.we can make a decision more quickly
C.we will be equipped with more knowledge
D.we can work more effectively

3 . Uggs(雪地靴) are certainly ugly, or at least inelegant. The shapeless boots, pulled on in a hurry, can make anyone look like a slob(懒惰的人), which has made them the target of disrespect. It hasn’t been hard to find someone strongly condemning them. “Ugg boots are no sexy,” The Independent declared in 2003, “unless you’re Mrs. Bigfoot on a lone mission across Antarctic to find Mr. Bigfoot. When wearing the boots, a writer of The Gloss complained, “There’s nothing to indicate that you don’t have square, horrible shoeboxes in place of human feet.” In 2015, one coffee shop on Brick Lane in east London ever banned ugg-wearers.

And yet, over the years, plenty of strange and unattractive shoes have met with the approval of the fashion establishment. The problem with uggs wasn’t that they were ugly; it’s that they were common.

But a funny thing happened on the way to fashion’s tomb: the universal ugg has not gone anywhere. Uggs have quietly stayed here since their best time. Once you start paying attention, you’ll be shocked to discover how many people are still wearing them. They are worn by mothers in town and in the country, by teenagers on Saturday shopping trip and by people in fashion.

Perhaps the secret of uggs’s unstoppable success is that, if there is a dividing line between public appeal and private style,it might be a pair of cozy boots. They are certainly comfortable, soft and warm, as if your feet were in the hugging of someone who really loves you. At $150 a pair, they are neither cheap nor entirely out of range. They are casual and indulgent(纵容的).

Somehow uggs, the boots that so many people hate, have managed to challenge the cruel logic of the fashion cycle and carry on whether you approve of them or not.

1. What is the best title of the passage?
A.Uggs Refuse to Die
B.Uggs Have Existed So Long
C.Uggs Enter the Fashion Circle
D.Uggs Have Gone Somewhere

A.They are very comfortable

C.They have public appeal
D.They are very cheap

5 . To shoot a scene of people eating food, you need two different perspectives (角度). To record a bus journey to school, you need three quick cuts. To complete this short, morning rush-hour video blog – or “vlog” – you need four pieces of music.     1

With more than 90 million vlogs available online, and 2,000 posted every hour on the YouTube video-sharing site, CBS News says they are mainstream with people born after 1995.

2     More young Chinese people have become inspired to grab a camera and recount the details of their day on Sina Weibo, Bilibili or WeChat Moments.

“The most important thing about vlogging is to tell a good story. Other visual effects are auxiliary (辅助的),” wrote US vlogger Casey Neista, who has almost 10 million subscribers on YouTube.

Chinese vlogger Wang Xiaoguang is an example of a good storyteller. In one of his popular vlog posts, Wang tells the story of traveling to Japan. While there, he took a ride in the wrong direction and got lost. Worse, he forgot to bring a phone charger.     3

Another key aspect of vlogs is that the content is based on everyday life, according to Ouyang Nana, 18, a young Chinese musician. She documents her life at Berklee College of Music. Ordinary as vlogs are, as many as 15 million fans share her wows and woes (喜怒哀乐) on a daily basis.

4     Peng Yixuan, a news reporter with China Daily, recorded her first experience attending and reporting on the two sessions in March of this year. With a relaxed, chatty and personal approach, she presented the conferences, “bringing more warmth” to the grand political event, according to People’s Daily.

There are popular vlogs for beauty, gaming, fashion, food and travel. Vloggers are learning new ways to experience the thrill of them.     5     Then what are you waiting for? Grab a camera!

A.They come from all walks of life.
B.However, he didn’t take the number of his hotel.
C.Vlogging has taken China by storm over the past year.
D.Some other popular vloggers choose to show their careers.
E.Vlogs pave the way for future advertising and sales campaigns.
F.Luckily he was able to borrow money from a stranger and escape trouble.
G.Vloggers have these techniques in mind as they film their daily activities.

6 . Keeping secrets is a burden

“Don’t tell anyone”. We hear these words when someone tells a secret to us. But it can be hard to keep a secret. We’re often tempted to “spill the beans(说漏嘴)”,even if we regret it later.

According to Asim Shah, professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine, US, keeping a secret may well “become a burden”. This is because people often have an “obsessive and anxious urge to share it with someone”.

An earlier study, led by Anita E. Kelly, a scientist at the University of Notre Dame, US, suggested that keeping a secret could cause stress. People entrusted(受委托的) with secrets can suffer from depression, anxiety, and body aches, reported the Daily Mail.

But with secrets so often getting out, why do people share them at all? Shah explained that people often feel that it will help them keep a person as a friend. Another reason people share secrets is guilt over keeping it from someone close to them. A sense of distrust can develop when people who are close do not share it with each other. “Keeping or sharing secrets often puts people in a position of either gaining or losing the trust of someone,” according to Shah.

He added that talkative people could let secrets slip out (泄露).But this doesn’t mean that it is a good idea only to share secrets with quiet people. A quiet person may be someone who keeps everything inside. To tell such a person a secret may cause them stress, and make them talk about the secret. Shah said that to judge whether to tell someone a secret.

Shah said that to judge whether to tell someone a secret, you’d better put yourself in their position. Think about how you would feel to be told that you mustn’t give the information away. Shah also recommended that if you accidentally give up someone’s secret you should come clean about it. Let the person know that their secret isn’t so secret anymore.

3. What is the main message of Paragraph 5?
A.It’s better to share your secrets with quiet people.
B.Quiet people suffer less stress from keeping secrets.
C.Talkative people are unlikely to keep secrets.
D.It’s not a good idea to share your secrets with others.

Digging through kids’ school bags, looking up all the assignments, sitting beside them going through each item, and finally    1    (have) all the homework checked with a name signed is a     2    (day) routine for most Chinese parents, as required by teachers. A demanding task especially after a long day’s work at office, isn’t it?       3    (luck), some parents in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, have been liberated.
