When I come home, I rest in the holes on the broken wall of the well. If I walk in the mud(泥土), it will cover up my feet. I look around here, and no one can compare with me. I am the owner of this wall. My dear sir, why don’t you come over and look around my place?”
Then the turtle told the frog about the East Sea.
“You have no idea how large and how deep the sea is. In the past thousands of years, there were floods(洪水)for many years, the water in the sea didn’t become less. The sea does not change with time and it does not rise or fall as the rain falls, either. The greatest happiness is to live in the East Sea.”

Many people enjoy biking. But there is a lot to think about before you buy a bike. There are many kinds of bicycles to choose from. And it is good to ask an expert before you buy a bike。
Different bicycles are designed to do different things. Some of them are made to be ridden on smooth roads. Others are designed to be ridden on. Rocky roads, and some bikes can be ridden on both.
If you want a bike, you need to get the right kind of bike. First, ask yourself where you plan to ride it? On city streets? On mountain trails?Or both? Choose the bike for your needs.
Next, be sure you get the right size of bike for yourself. Professional bicycle stores will take time to measure (测量) each customer. Then they put the measurements in a computer. The computer will suggest a good size.
Besides the kind of bike and size, you also need the right fit. This means you need to choose things like handlebars and a seat.

These days, kids, even high school students go to school every day wearing their big backpacks. It looks a little funny, but is it dangerous?
Yes, it is. Dr. Karen Jacobs, a teacher at Boston University says, “Heavy backpacks can let your head ache.” Some kids are saying, “My back and my neck hurt.” Jacobs also says heavy schoolwork may be making backpacks bigger. A study said, “Heavy backpacks are the reasons for the sore back of children.” The same study said a full third of kids aged 11 to 14 have back problems. That is to say, they have been a health risk for kids.
“The children’s body is still developing, and putting too many things on their back could change their spine(脊柱),” says Rob Danoff, a doctor. He also says proper design is important. You want a backpack that’s made for your size. Soft straps(肩带) will also stop aches. Small roller (滑轮) bags are a choice.
How heavy is too heavy? A research shows that the backpack shouldn’t be heavier than 15% of a child. For that reason, Jacobs says it’s important that kids are carrying only what they need. Another tip is to put the heaviest things in the middle of the pack, closer to the back.

Many kinds of birds live in the United States, but the number of the birds is becoming smaller and smaller every year. One of the leading reasons is the growing number of pet cats. By keeping your pet cats in your home, you can help give birds a better possible chance to live.
Of the 90 million pet cats in this country, about two-thirds are allowed to go outside. It is said that these cats kill hundreds of millions of birds each year as well as billions of small animals such as rabbits and field mice.
They can also bring illness to the animals that live in people’s yard, and further weaken(变弱) the health of the natural populations.
Allowing pet cats to go outside is not just bad for birds and wildlife(野生动物). It is bad for the cats themselves, too. Outdoor cats can get sick very easily. They may be in danger from traffic and attacks(攻击)from other animals. In fact, outdoor cats usually don’t pass the age of five, while indoor cats often live to be 17 or older.
Keep your pet cat inside! If you raise a young cat, it’s your duty to let it play inside.
A.You should let your cat inside. |
B.Going outside is bad for cats, too. |
C.Keeping a cat is good for you. |
D.The birds are fewer and fewer in America. |
E.Cats can bring illness. |
F.Cats kill many birds and small animals every year. |
