Suspense, passion, betrayal, adventure—all these things are combined in this thrilling and epic (史诗的) movie with perfect scenes and wonderful performances by the actors.

文章大意:这是一篇夹叙夹议文。作者通过清理多年无用的杂物过程,阐述了自己认为生活中最重要的是要拥有爱心、积极向上、心存善念、乐于分享的观点。

When Spring cleaning season rived this year I decided that it was time to get rid of more than just a Winter’s worth of dust and dirt. It was the time to get rid of years worth of accumulated (累积的) stuff as well. This stuff was lining my walls, filling my shelves, and crowding my closets. This stuff was filling my home and my mind and not bringing me one bit of happiness. I couldn’t even remember how I got some of it, but I knew I wanted it gone.

It turned out to be an even bigger job than I thought. Twenty-year-old bills and receipts were thrown in the trash. Piles of papers were no longer necessary or needed. Broken bowls, dented pans, and cracked knickknacks were finally thrown away. Unworn clothes were taken out of the closet and packed to be given away to the local charity. Old books were boxed up to be passed on for others to read and enjoy.

It took several days to get it all done, but in the end I was able to walk through a home that seemed a little less messed. My heart was a lot lighter too. It felt so good to be able to get rid of all the junk and to just focus on the essential stuff in life again.

What is the essential stuff? What is the stuff that brings meaning to our days? A loving heart is essential. A joyful spirit is essential. A soul full of goodness and God is essential. And a life full of sharing all of these things is absolutely essential. The essential stuff can’t be bought, sold, or stored. It can only be chosen, created, and given away. The essential stuff is the stuff we all really want. It is the stuff we all really need.

4. Which word can describe the author’s feeling towards accumulated stuff?
A.Satisfied.B.Curious.C.Bored.D.Disappointed.
5. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 2 imply?
A.It is a pity that 1 should store so much stuff.
B.I really don’t want to throw away such stuff.
C.The essential stuff is actually everywhere.
D.There is more unnecessary stuff than I think.
6. In which section of a magazine can we read this text?
A.Lifestyle.B.Technology.C.Health.D.Education.
7. What is the best title of the text?
A.It’s Time To Move OnB.What Matters Most
C.How To Get Rid Of JunkD.What Is Junk

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。作者通过举例说明人工智能的好处,相信不久的将来人工智能将普及于我们的生活并带来诸多便利。

Artificial intelligence becoming self-aware and ending the human race is a common theme in science fiction. The levels of high intelligence that AI could reach is a real concern among some scientists. But with more talk of AI and smart devices in the home, what are the merits of bringing these things into your life?

Hans Rosling, a professor of international health, once spoke about the impact and changes that the washing machine made. The once tough task of cleaning clothes by band was taken on by a machine and freed you more time for other activities. There are so many smart devices that you can fill your home with. Imagine waking up to find a hot, freshly brewed cup of coffee, spotless floors that have been recently cleaned and the house set to the perfect temperature. With smart devices, these things can happen while you sleep. The potential to pre-program and automate (自动化) parts of your life means that you can focus on other tasks in your life.

But there is a difference between smart devices and AI. Smart devices are the things that get on with the tasks, while AI can “think” or interact, and can be used to control the smart devices. There are many voice activated AI systems which can control the smart devices around your home. You can ask these devices to start making coffee, dim the lights when they’re too bright or even make sure the house is secure. You can inquire as to the weather outside, ask them to play music or search the internet for you when you have a burning question about history or the latest cooking recipes. Some of these devices even have a sense of humor, and upon asking them certain questions, they will answer. In short, in some ways, they can act as company.

But how far will it go? Well, we already have self-driving cars and sentient (智能的) tech that can automatically order the delivery of certain products to restock our fridge when we’re running low, but often in films and games we see robots taking over all of the domestic duties. It seems for now, that those things only live in our imaginations, but we could be seeing them sooner than we think.

8. What does the underlined “merits” word in paragraph 1 mean?
A.Dangers.B.Positives.C.Tasks.D.Troubles.
9. What is the advantage of having smart devices according to Hans Rosling?
A.People can write more science fictions about them.
B.People take total control of these devices.
C.People have more time to do other tasks.
D.People can interact with smart devices.
10. How is paragraph 3 mainly developed?
A.By listing figures.B.By presenting causes.
C.By providing examples.D.By following time order.
11. What is the author’s prediction about AI?
A.It will kill all human beings in the future.
B.Our world will be kept under control by AI.
C.Human beings do not need AI in the near future.
D.Our life will become totally automatically convenient with AI.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。阐述了婚姻和财富之间的关系。

Traditional wisdom says that if you want to be richer, a useful thing to do is get married. Life is cheaper when only one mortgage (贷款) to pay and someone else can do certain tasks — cooking or car repair — more efficiently than you. The research by Ohio State University’s Zagorsky shows the married increase their wealth an average 16% a year, while those who are single increase their net worth at half that rate.

Yet the economic benefit of marriage isn’t what it used to be. In a book, Changing Poverty, Changing Policies, a social scientist show that the marriage premium (附加值) has fallen. Cancian, a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, set out to study how the changing make-up of American families has affected the number of people below the poverty line. Considering how the rate of marriage has fallen and the rate of divorce has risen, the researcher expected the number of people with their born younger generation living below the poverty line to grow by 2.6%. But when he looked at the data, poverty had increased by less than half that amount.

Why? Because single women, even those with kids, have an easier time supporting themselves outside of marriage than they used to. More women are working, increasingly for wages that are competitive with those of men. Women are having children later in life, and fewer of them. Besides, a growing percentage of women who have children but aren’t married don’t live on their own. In 1970, 62% of single mothers were the only adult in their household, but by 2019, just 55% are living without another means of support — thanks to more women living together with a male partner or grandparent.

That’s not to say marriage doesn’t coincide with (与一致) economic benefits. A child in a single parent family, for instance, is five times as likely to live below the poverty line. What Cancian tries to illustrate, though, is that marriage wouldn’t necessarily produce more wealth. Marrying someone who is unemployed for a long time might very well not be an economic increase.

12. According to paragraph 1, what’s the benefit of getting married?
A.The wealth of the married people increased more.
B.One could leave the housework to the other.
C.The couple could own more than one house.
D.The couple would become the rich people.
13. Paragraph 3 is centered on ______.
A.women do not want to have children or just fewer of them
B.more women are working and can make more money than men
C.single women meet fewer challenges to feed themselves than before
D.single mothers now enjoy living with a male partner or grandparents
14. According to Cancian, what produces more wealth in marriage?
A.One of the marriage partners must have strong economic background.
B.The couples are not trapped in unemployment for a long time.
C.The men who support the families have a good salary.
D.The women can earn much more than their partners.
15. What is the purpose of the text?
A.To give information about marriage and wealth.
B.To suggest a new method of building more wealth.
C.To compare married persons with single ones.
D.To persuade people to get married.

文章大意:这是一篇应用文。本文就如何在工作后保持精力充沛给出了几点建议。

How to get energetic after working hours

After a long workday, all you want to do is go home, sit on the couch and turn on the TV. So you’ve planned to go to the gym after work? “I’ll go tomorrow, I promise.”     16     Here are some tips for getting yourself to hit the gym after a tiresome workday, offered by Women’s Health magazine:

    17

Why not change the “Keep calm and carry on” poster to some inspirational shape-up-messages around your workplace? If you think “No pains, no gains” is too ordinary, how about “And though she may be but little, she is fierce.”? When your colleagues ask about it, tell them the quote is from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Eat breakfast.

Even though it’s hours before your trip to the gym, having a balanced breakfast will keep you energized throughout the rest of the day.    18

Eat a little lunch.

No matter what you’re eating, if you have too much of it, your blood sugar is going to rise rapidly and then drop back down.     19     Try to avoid foods with refined carbohydrates or lots of sugar. Keeping your blood sugar steady will stabilize your energy, help you get more done, and feel awake enough to make it to the gym.

Set the goal really low.

20    And once you’re at the gym, you might think: “Well, I could probably stay just a little longer.” Also remember, some HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts are short but very effective. Just search for HIIT workouts online and you can find loads to teach yourself.

A.Take advantage of tech.
B.This will leave you sleepy and unproductive.
C.But of course, tomorrow will be exactly the same.
D.This will guarantee that you won’t “forget” to go to workout.
E.Decorate your office space with motivational photos or slogans.
F.Try to include eggs, fruits and whole grain bread in your breakfast.
G.If you make your goal really easy, you won’t feel too reluctant (勉强的) to achieve it.

Throughout my growth, I would ask my dad questions and he told me the answers. Is there really a man in the moon? How do sailboats work? I understood one thing about my dad: he knew everything. My dad was a hero, Mr. Know-it-all.

In my teen years, he taught me things I’d need to know to survive in the real world: How to check your car tire’s pressure. The correct knife to use to cut a watermelon. When I moved out on my own, I called him at least once a week, usually when I needed to know how to fix something in my apartment: the toilet, the air -conditioning, the wall, when I threw a shoe at a terrifying spider. He seemed to have every piece of information I exactly needed.

I don’t know when it happened, I needed him less. Our conversations evolved into six words. Nothing more. Me:“Hi, Dad.”Him:“Hi, sweets. Here’s Mom.”Because of her, I still needed—What’s your chicken soup recipe? Do I need to call the doctor for my daughter’s fever? Can you read this draft of my novel?

I loved my dad of course, but I wondered at times if maybe he had already shared everything I needed to know. I knew all his random jobs. I knew about the apple orchard (果园), the summer at the manufacturing plant that burned his hand, and even the restaurant, where he learned how to make the best omelet (煎蛋卷). Maybe, after knowing a man for 40 years, there’s nothing left to say.

What’s more, I relied mostly on my husband to solve more technical and complicated problems such as water heaters and insect removal. For everything else, we had Google.

Then, this past summer, my husband, our four kids and I moved in with my parents for three weeks while our own house was being decorated.

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
They owned a shabby lake house and Dad asked me to help him repair it.

A few weeks later, after we moved back into our decorated house, I called my dad.
