Do You Want Cloud Antivirus?
Unlike conventional antivirus software, cloud antivirus programs do most of their processing on the Internet rather than your computer’ s hard drive. Cloud antivirus programs not only have a smaller resource footprint, but they also can be quicker to respond to newly emerging malware(恶意软件)threats.
What Sort of Device and Operating System Are You Protecting?
One obvious point is that you need a program that’s compatible(兼容的)with your device’s operating system. This isn’t as much of an issue as it once was, since many antivirus software makers offer their products for multiple platforms. Another consideration is how much memory and storage space your device has, since antivirus programs sometimes can occupy many resources.
What’s Your Price Point?
If you’re on a tight budget and aren’t a heavy-duty computer user, you may be able to get by with using one of the numerous free antivirus programs that are available. Another popular choice is Avast Free Antivirus, which has earned high ratings from security researchers and is available for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices. But if you can afford it, the paid versions of the free programs often have more features.
How Much Protection Do You Need?
If you’re mostly just using your computer to write emails and watch movies on Netflix, then most of the fine bells and whistles on a full-featured security suite probably would go to waste. If you’ re surfing the web more extensively or running a home e-commerce business, you may find that advanced features in a paid program are well worth the money.
But no matter which antivirus program you pick, online security expert Bruce Schneier says the most important thing is that you install one, and set it to automatically update.
1. What’s the feature of the cloud antivirus programs?A.They are free. |
B.They do most work on the Internet. |
C.They need more memory and storage space. |
D.They are compatible with all the operating systems. |
A.Turn to an expert. |
B.Study the previous cases. |
C.Choose a free antivirus program. |
D.Pay for an advanced antivirus program. |
A.Updating automatically. | B.Setting passwords. |
C.Checking occasionally. | D.Storing quickly. |

【推荐1】Over the past two weeks, I've lost my passport, barked at a neighbor and published a picture of myself wearing a kid's superhero costume. Forgetfulness, anger and poor decision-making are all signs of sleep shortage.
And I'm not alone.
“I average around six hours a night,” admits Paul, who's lived in Shanghai for three years. “But how much of that is deep sleep, I don't know.”
Lisa works in a hotel. “I struggle to switch off,” she says, “a glass of red wine with dinner helps.”
March 21 is the World Sleep Day, an annual event in celebration of slumber, or sleep. When sleep problems become a global epidemic, it's time to ask: “Am I getting enough?”
The lack of sleep throughout industrialized nations is damaging our health, wellness and safety. We're dog-tired, the impact of which is enough to keep anyone up at night.
A global experiment is performed on 1.6 billion people across 70 countries twice a year: daylight savings. When one hour of sleep is lost in spring, there's a 24 percent increase in heart attacks, and in autumn, when the hour is regained, a 21 percent reduction.
Good sleep increases concentration, attention and decision-making. Creativity goes up, and our ability to find novel solutions to complex problems is hugely improved. Sleep reduces mood swings and stress levels. We drink less alcohol and make better food choices when rested.
Take sleep seriously. It's not a luxury, but a biological necessity. It's our life-support system and let it be our superpower.
1. Why does the author mention his own experiences in Paragraph 1?A.To draw attention to his situation. | B.To complain about lacking sleep. |
C.To introduce the topic of the text. | D.To raise a question about deep sleep. |

As the manager of the World Youth Organization, I must say, “It is not quite easy to get this position.” My parents have always been top supporters for my educational progress rather than my true passion, which of course is the World Youth Organization. There have been many arguments when it comes to the controversial topics. Time after time I have to protect my belief and hope it will come true one day.
Proving one wrong, especially your parents, is a tough ride. But when you love something, you constantly put up a fight. You stand for what you believe in, which is one of the most important aspects of life. Any parent or carer would require too much, “You must go to university”, “You will not get anywhere without that degree.” All of those sentences make the perfect sense, when you’re dreaming of becoming a nurse, doctor, teacher or scientist, or a career path which requires that important degree. But I believe what many parents see is that when one has the degree, he/she is automatically set on the right path of life.
However, when the truth is bitter, it doesn’t always go smoothly. If I am not full of passion, will I lead a happy life? Possibly. Will I be true to myself ? No. However, if you are enthusiastic about the subject you study, you are willing to do everything to make it a reality.
A person can take many paths in life, and you just need to find the best one for yourself. I strongly agree with considering something to fall back on just in case plan A doesn’t go well. Stick with your passion as plan A, unless staying in college can ensure you are going to be okay in the future.
Follow your passion, be prepared to work hard, be devoted and above all, don’t let anyone limit your dreams.
1. What attitude do the writer’s parents hold towards his choice?A.Supportive. | B.Negative. | C.Positive. | D.Interested. |
A.You go to university. | B.You listen to your parents. |
C.You hold on to your belief. | D.You study hard for the degree. |
A.Your passion. | B.Your happy life, |

Objects began to fall down from overhead and rising above the crashes, he could hear terrified screams all around him. Several months later, the painter from Nepal's Kathmandu Valley remembers that day more vividly than his wedding day or the birth of his son.
It was on April 25, 2015 that an earthquake hit Nepal, the former Himalayan kingdom out of sight between its giant neighbors China and India, 81 years after a similar disaster. This killer quake and aftershocks that continued for more than a month afterward killed over 8,000 people, destroyed thousands of houses, and ruined an economy already damaged by many other reasons.
It was also of consequence for the ancient art style Nepali painters such as Lama have been practicing for generations. “We left our homes and lived in the open fields outside the city, under tarpaulins(防水油布)for a month," Lama said. Many of the houses, built of mud and bricks, were in ruins and the aftershocks continued, though less frequently. One day, I went to my showroom to get some of the paintings out and the Earth started shaking again. I dropped everything and ran out for my life. ”
Dinesh Lama, a 32-year-old artist from Nepal's capital city, Kathmandu, said his Boudha Stupa Thangka Center, which functions as his showroom as well as his studio, has remained shut since the earthquake, as his artisans(工匠)are too traumatized (心理受到创伤的)to take up the brush again. “We lived in temporary tents for more than a month," he said. “When they try to sit inside the studio and paint, fear makes their hands shake. Luckily, we have got a lot of aid from China. I believe we will come back to our home soon. ”
1. What can we conclude from the second paragraph?A.The April 25 earthquake made Nepal disappear for long. |
B.This quake caused more deaths than the one 81 years ago. |
C.Nepal also suffered a serious disaster due to the 1934 quake. |
D.The earthquake is the only reason for Nepal being backward. |
A.Many Nepali painters lost their lives in the quake. |
B.Only the houses built of mud and bricks broke down. |
C.His showroom fell into ruins after the quake. |

Maybe you're among those who have spent hours researching locations-even though you're not actually planning to travel.
It turns out that you aren't alone. People who seem to be sticking to public safety recommendations are still planning trips they don't intend to book. And, when I suddenly found myself addicted to an imaginary girls' trip to Joshua Tree, I wondered whether this was a healthy distraction.
"It's an escapist imagination," said Regine Galanti, a psychologist, adding that there's nothing wrong with escapism during a global pandemic.
On the one hand, distractions are often beneficial right now. We are a full year into living with COVID-19 as a pandemic, and that means you've probably had to navigate a range of emotions like discomfort, sadness, or even boredom. So any hobby that doesn't harm anyone or endanger your well-being is probably a worthy attempt.
Even if vacation planning is your happy place, Dr. Galanti suggests you "actually think about what you're trying to achieve." Why? "Maybe what you're saying is, I need a vacation from work," Dr. Galanti explains. "Then take three days off even if you are not going anywhere. "When you figure out what you're looking for, you might be able to find a small socially distanced adventure in your backyard or a quiet place. Vacation planning is a good way to spend some time, but there might be an even better way to get what you're desiring.
Anyway, when uncertainty is all around us, creating things to look forward to isn't a terrible idea. And when things are safer, you'll have all your plans in place.
1. Why do people make imaginary travel plans during the pandemic?A.To develop a new hobby. | B.To stay safe and sound. |
C.To be distracted from reality. | D.To get ready for future travel. |
A.Express. | B.Balance. | C.Adapt to. | D.Deal with. |

Specifically, when they do not have enough information to solve a problem, they will actively look for more information, similarly to primates (灵长类).
In a recent study, project leader Julia Belger explored whether dogs have metacognitive abilities. To test this, the researchers designed a device involving two V-shaped fences. A reward, either food or a toy, would be placed by one researcher behind one of the two fences while another researcher held the dogs. In some cases, the dogs could see where the reward was placed, while in others, the dogs could not. The researchers then analyzed how frequently the dogs looked through the gap in the fence before choosing an option.
The researchers found that the dogs did check significantly more often for the reward when they had not seen where it was placed. These results show that dogs do tend to actively seek extra information when they have not seen where the reward is concealed.
The results did not allow the researchers to say definitively whether dogs possess meta-cognition, though they displayed some evidence for it. Julia said, “For humans, vision is an important information gathering sense. In this case, our experiment was based on a checking action relying on sight, but the dogs probably also used their sense of smell when checking through the gap. We know that smell is very important to dogs and we could see that they were using it.”
Julia added, “In future, we would like to develop an experiment to investigate under what circumstances dogs decide to use their sense of smell versus sight. This may give us additional insights into their information seeking abilities.”
1. What ability may dogs have according to the study?A.To offer information like primates. | B.To use their skills to find more food. |

【推荐3】The chief problem in dealing with foreign motorists is not so much remembering that they are different from you, but that they are largely variable. Cross a frontier(边境) without adjusting and you can be in deep trouble.
One of the greatest gulfs separating the driving nations is the Atlantic Ocean. Or rather, it is the mental distance between the European and the American motorist, particularly the South American motorist. Compare, for example, an English driver at a set of traffic lights with a Brazilian.
Very rarely will an Englishman try to anticipate(预先准备) the green light by moving off. You will find the occasional someone who watches for the yellow light to come up on the set of lights. However, he will not go until he receives the lawful signal. Brazilians view the thing quite differently. If, in fact, they see traffic lights, they regard them as a kind of roadside decoration.
The natives of North America are much more disciplined. They show this in their addiction to driving in one lane(车道) and sticking to it—even if it means settling behind some great truck for many miles.
To prevent other drivers from falling into wrong ways, American motorists try always to stay close behind the vehicle in front which can make it impossible to make a real lane change. European visitors are always falling into this trap. They return to the Old World still waving their arms in disappointment because while driving in the State in their cars they kept failing to get off the highway when they wanted to and were swept along to the next city.
However, one nation above all others lives cautiously by its traffic regulations — the Swiss. In Switzerland, if you were simply to anticipate a traffic light, the chances are that the motorist behind you would take your number and report you to the police. There are slight regional variations among the French, German and Italian speaking areas, but it is generally safe to assume that any car bearing a CH sticker will be driven with a high degree of discipline.
1. How do American drivers behave on the road according to the passage?A.They run the red light sometimes. |
B.They drive close behind other drivers. |
C.They care little about the traffic light. |
D.They start their car at the yellow light. |
