The Cloister is a branch (分支) of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is located in northern Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park. It is filled with gardens and medieval (中世纪的) art and buildings. If you’re looking for a memorable experience, it is sure to be a good choice.
The Dream House
If you don’t like art museums or concert halls, you can choose the Dream House on Tribeca’s Church Street. It was created in 1993 by a married couple La Monte Young, a musician, and his wife Marian Zazeela. In the Dream House, every move that visitors make in the Dream House creates a different series of sounds. Meanwhile, fantastic pink lighting guides them through their journey.

THE REMARKABLE ROCKS area must-see on Kangaroo Island
accessible by air and ferry from the Australian mainland
Hop on new Kangaroo Island trail
for five-day adventure
It sounds like an amusement park.Or a portion of a zoo reserved for marsupials(有袋动物). But Kangaroo Island(KI), 30 minutes by air from Adelaide in South Australia, is just the opposite. Much of the island remained inaccessible to visitors until this year.Opened to the public in May, the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail, a nearly 38-mile, fie-day hike, ushers adventurous trekkers on a botanically distinctive immersion into the islands' south-west side.
Footers can expect to walk roughly four to seven hours a day, passing colorful flower, splendid sugar gum tees and massive native plant life. In this timeless setting, they'll likely sport kangaroos, goanna lizards and spiny echidna. From cliff rims, they'll overlook the Southern Ocean, where sharks lurk and schools of salmon cluster in flower like, protective formations.
The trial includes 4 camping areas, each outfitted with 24 tent platforms :12 for self-guided walkers and 12 for tour operators, who also can arrange options off the trail.
Independent trekkers pay about$124to do the walk; the cost includes the parking at the Flinders Chase visitor center ,and a trail guide and map.

Being played in every country in the world, football provides dozens of superstars. The numbers are greater when compared to any other sport, and this drives the popularity of football up. Have you ever wondered when the sport started and became popular?
Football has its origin (起源) in China and has a history of more than 2,000 years. However, modern football originally appeared in Britain in the 19th century. Folk football matches had been played before in many cities and towns, but never on a professional level.
Football became a winter sport game played in different schools. The rules were carried out by each school, and this made it difficult for players to play an official game with each other. It all changed in 1849 at the University of Cambridge that invented a set of standard rules known as the Cambridge rules of football. From that moment, a new star sport was born.
By the early 20th century, football had spread all across Europe. In 1904, FIFA was set up. There are seven original members, including France, Denmark and Spain, FIFA became the governing body for many associations in Europe.
England’s international success improved the popularity of the sport in the country. The league (联赛) in Britain was set up in 1992. From the 1990s, it became a truly impressive piece of football organization, becoming the world’s top football league in the process.
Football is obviously the most popular sport in the world. It is impossible for any other sport to take its place, especially with leagues spending billions of pounds every year to stay in the focus.

MEXICO
Mexico s cities are modern but have many traditional Indian and Spanish things. The most important buildings are around a central square, which is also a place to meet with friends. There are outdoor marketplaces, where people can find almost anything they need. On Sundays, parks are popular places for families. Many people move to Mexico City from the countryside. Traffic, pollution, and crowds are problems. However, there is little crime, and even very crowded cities have many parks and gardens.
AUSTRALIA
Although 80% of Australians live near cities, the cities are not as large as those in some other countries. Most people live in houses in the outer area of the cities—not in apartment. Planting the Tree
Dig a hole a foot deeper than and twice as wide as the root ball of the new tree.loosen the soil at the bottom and sides of the hole,so roots will be able to easily enter the soil.
Gently remove the tree from the container and guide the tree into the hole.Build soil up and around the roots if necessary,so the tree is at the same soil level as it was originally grown.
Straighten the tree in the hole. Before you begin filling, have someone view the tree from several directions to confirm that the tree is straight. You should fill the hole with existing soil that has been mixed with rich materials. At this time you can also add bone meal and then water the tree.
Caring for the Tree
Caring for the tree once it is planted is an important step so you should provide regular watering.Always feel the soil before watering,as over-watering can also harm the tree. When soil is dry below the surface of the covering,it’s time to water. You will probably need to water at least once a week.Continue until mid-fall,when lower temperatures call for less-frequent watering.
When to Plant a Tree
Now that you know how to plant a tree, the next step is deciding when to plant.Spring and fall are generally the best times to plant a tree. This gives the tree time to adjust(调整)before summer heat or winter cold arrives. In areas without cold winters, trees may be planted during the winter.

#1 Improve Interpersonal Skills & Form Close Friendships
In a world where anyone can look up a fact and where machines are replacing even complex workplace tasks, employers need employees who can interact effectively with other people. This is one of the most important skills teens learn at camp. In the non-competitive camp culture, teens build up their “emotional intelligence” (EQ), their face-to-face communication and relationship skills.
#2 Experience Character Development and Develop Life Skills
Teens develop other important life skills at camp, including independence, responsibility, and decision-making. Teens grow considerably in environment away from their parents where they are forced to live on their own and find their own resources.
#3 Meet Positive Role Models
Walk into any well-run summer camp and you’ll be surrounded by wholesome, outdoorsy young people. Camp offers teens the opportunity to be among young adults who are positive role models and to form close relationships with them. Most camp counselors are hard-working college students who want to serve others. Aren’t they just the kind of young adults you want your teen to become?
#4 Discover Their Best Self
Camp experiences offer teens the chance to step back from the tiring task of academic and competitive sports and instead think about what’s important to them. Many campers become less self-absorbed after spending a few weeks at camp, learning to train their focus on others. They discover new hobbies and avenues to pursue in education and their future careers.

People use parts of animals for everything from hats to handbags, from jewelry to ashtrays and to make powders that supposedly improve a person's life. Deciding that a species is endangered and protecting it by law are not always enough. People who kill wildlife illegally rarely get caught.
During the late 1980s, saving elephants became a popular cause. Wildlife protection groups made sure everyone saw pictures or films of elephants with their faces cut off for their ivory. These groups also proved that certain populations of elephants were decreasing. As a result, most people stopped buying objects made of ivory. Laws against poaching (偷猎) were made stronger. Many countries made importing ivory illegal. Killing elephants for their Ivory became more risky and less profitable (有利可图的).
However, concern for certain species will become weak after a while. In the late 1970s, people protested (抗议) against the killing of seal babies. Everyone was shocked to see young seals being killed in their icy habitat. The cruel activity stopped. But ten years later, the number of seal babies killed was higher than ever.
Other animal protection movements have come and gone, such as saving the whales and protecting dolphins. The whale population appears to have increased for now. And the laws are finally changed in America to protect the dolphins that swim with tuna fish in parts of the Pacific Ocean.
In the years to come, people's attention will probably turn to some other endangered species. Plenty of them urgently need attention. During this time, will the elephants be forgotten?
1. What leads to the disappearance of millions of wild animals?A.The growing human population. |
B.Humans’ hope for making a fortune. |
C.Humans’ too much need for wild food. |
D.Not having enough laws on wildlife protection.. |
A.Wildlife protection groups did make great efforts. |
B.Importing ivory in all countries is illegal. |

A.To show the effort to protect seal babies. |
B.To show an increasing number of seal babies. |
C.To show the decrease of worry about certain species. |
D.To show people’s protest against the killing of seal babies. |
A.Humans should choose some rare animals to protect. |
B.Attention must be paid to saving some endangered wildlife. |
C.Success has been achieved in quite a few cases of wildlife protection. |
D.Concern and movements for animal protection should be always kept. |
The study suggests the influence of these names might persist. Children continued to eat about 50 percent more carrots even on the days when they were no longer labeled as anything special.
The research, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, was presented at the annual meeting of the School Nutrition Association in Washington, D.C..
“Cool names can make for cool foods,” said the lead author Brian Wansink of Cornell University. “Whether it be ‘power peas’ or ‘dinosaur broccoli trees’, giving a food a fun name makes kids think it will be more fun to eat. And it seems to keep working — even the next day,” Wansink said.
Similar results have been found with adults. A restaurant study showed that when the Seafood Filet was changed to Romantic Hawaii, sales increased 28 percent and taste rating increased by 12 percent. “Same food, but different expectations, and a different experience,” said Wansink, author of “Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think.”
The study was conducted in pre-schools, but the researchers believe the same naming tricks can work with children at home.
“I’ve been using this with my kids,” said researcher Collin Payne, “Whatever sparks(激发) their imagination seems to spark their appetite.”
