If businesses are to get workers back into the office, finding ways to keep social distancing(社会隔离)will be important. An Israeli company thinks it can help, using smart sensors installed on workplace ceilings.
PointGrab developed its technology before COVID-19 to help workspace managers optimize(优化)how employees use office space. About the size of a smoke alarm, the sensors can record the exact number and location of people in buildings including offices, hotels and restaurants. One of the company's first clients was Deloitte, which installed the system at its London office last year. PointGrab s sensors were connected to screens in the building to show the availability(利用率)of desks and shared areas in real time. PointGrab CEO Doron Shachar says it was one of a series of innovations that helped Deloitte fit 30% more people into 3% less space.
Now to prevent the coronavirus spreading face to face, PointGrab has adapted the technology to some degree so the sensors can also monitor social distancing by keeping track of how far apart people are, and whether they're traveling in one direction around a building. Workspace managers can set up alarm for when two people are closer than two meters for more than 30 seconds, for example. The sensors have been included in the “six feet office” concept created by a company Cushman & Wakefield to encourage employees to practice social distancing. They are currently being used in this way at a university in the Netherlands, and at an innovation centre in Belgium. While the social distancing innovation is new, PointGrab has installed more than 10, 000 sensors for workspace optimization, including in the offices of Coca-Cola, Facebook and Dell.
Workers might not like the idea of being monitored, but PointGrab says no images or identifying features are recorded. Instead, each employee is represented as a dot on a screen. “The sensor does not violate people’s privacy,” Shachar says. This is extremely important in the workspace.

In order to help them carry on their work in the normal way, disability aids are manufactured. This helps them make their life a lot easier than what it would have been without these aids. The kind of disability aids that an individual might require depends on the person only. It is the problem that a person faces that decides the aids that he/she will use for carrying out their respective jobs. The following is the list of a few disability aids that come of significant use.
The first and foremost aid is the stocking aid, aiding the individuals suffering from the problem of bending down to reach the foot and wear their own socks. These stocking aids have a gutter that is made up of plastic material. These gutters are shaped in a certain way along with the attachment of cotton tapes in it. The sock is then put over the gutter. The foot is placed inside the gutter. The cotton tapes help in pulling the socks up the leg and subsequently the sock. In this manner, the sock is worn by a person who has problems wearing it by bending one’s back and reaching the foot.
There are openers that help the people who have problems with their hands or wrists to open bottles of ketchup, jam and other such bottles and jars that necessitates the use of hands and fingers.
The third type of disability aids that comes to our minds are lifts. Now what are lifts? Lifts are certain machines that help in lifting people from specific areas, such as a bathtub or a set of stairs. These lifts are of varied types and come for numerous applications. It is for the individual to decide the type that he/she requires to use.
For people, who have problems in balancing their upper bodies in a stable manner, there is something known as grab rails. These grab rails are installed for those who have mobility problems in their upper bodies. These rails come in varieties of shapes, sizes and angles. These grab rails are available to home users as well, in their different variations. One can purchase and fix one to their homes according to one’s specificities. These grab rails require the act of screwing and drilling in order to fix them to their appropriate place. The prices of these rails also vary according to the variation of their shapes and sizes.
A portable book holder is a much sought-after disability aid. It can be used by anybody for that matter, not just the disabled. These portable book holders are light-weight and can be easily moved about. These holders relieve the strains on one’s hands, necks and shoulders that might occur due to the handling of a book. The holders are provided with extended legs that help in placing the reading material at suitable distance.
Thus with the help of these disability aids, the old and disabled people can make their lives much more convenient and comfortable that would otherwise have been a cumbersome and complex one.

“Our end goal is to create a more sustainable future,” said Jens Lahaije, finance manager for TU/ecomotive, the Eindhoven University of Technology student team that created the car.
Called ZEM, for zero emission mobility, the two-seater houses a Cleantron lithium-ion (锂离子) battery pack, and most of its parts are 3D-printed from recycled plastics, Lahaije said. The target is to minimize carbon dioxide emitted during the car’s full lifespan, from manufacturing to recycling, he added.
Battery electric vehicles emit virtually no CO2 during operation compared with fuel vehicles, but battery cell production can create so much pollution that it can take EVs (Electric Vehicles) tens of thousands of miles to achieve “carbon parity (相等)” with comparable fossil-fueled models.
“Direct air capture is a fairly new method of cleaning the air by capturing CO2 into a filter (过滤器). We have made use of this innovative technology and implemented this in our car. The idea is very simple: while we’re driving, air will move through our self-designed filters and the CO2 will be captured and stored.”
ZEM uses two filters that can capture up to 2 kilograms of CO2 over 20,000 miles of driving, the Eindhoven team estimated. They imagine a future when filters can be emptied at charging stations.
The students are showing their vehicle on a US promotional tour to universities and companies from the East Coast to Silicon Valley.

But AlphaGo is no longer the best Go “player” in the world Google’s artificial intelligence group, DeepMind. has created the next generation of its Go-playing program, called AlphaGo Zero The new A1 program is unique in the way it learned to play Go Instead of learning from human matches, as its predecessor (前任) did, AlphaGo Zero mastered Go in just two days without any human knowledge of the game and defeated AlphaGo by day three, reported The Guardian It then went on to defeat AlphaGo 100 games to zero.
To learn how to play Go, AlphaGo Zero played millions of matches against itself using only the basic rules of the game to rapidly create its own knowledge of it tike the previous version, it used “reinforcement (增强) learning to become its own teacher, ”ccording to DeepMind’s website.
“It’s more powerful than previous approaches. ’’ David Silver, AlphaGo’s lead researcher, told The Guardian, “because by not using human data, or human expertise in any fashion, we’ve removed the constraints (约束) of human knowledge and it is able to create knowledge itself . ”
AlphaGo Zero’s approach to selt-learning is a significant advancement in AI could be applied to help solve some of the world s biggest problems, according a recent research report published in the journal Nature. It is common for our mind to wander to a vacation and even travel the world. What if there is a way that you can travel the world without having to pay any money?
A person that managed to make it around the world without spending much was Shantanu Starick. How did he trade off his service? Starick realized that as a photographer he had a service that people would usually be willing to pay money for, but he would instead offer his photography service to anyone who could provide him with food, accommodation and transportation. Starick has been traveling for a surprising 30 months and has visited countries ranging from the United States to Ecuador.
In English-speaking countries, trading off service and communicating aren’t difficult for Starick. However, in farther areas where there isn’t an English-speaking person in sight it can be quite difficult. More than anything, the locals admire the effort behind trying to speak their language, even if he doesn’t exactly sound like a native speaker.
You can do it too!
Honestly, with a bit of confidence, drive and a skill you can trade, you’ll be able to do exactly the same as Starick.

A trial run of the ugly food line, named "Naturally Imperfect", began with only apples and tomatoes
to choose from. Consumer(消费者) demand has been so huge that Loblaws is going to introduce more ugly vegetables and fruit like onions and mushrooms.
All the produce that will be sold through Naturally Imperfect would otherwise have been used in juices, sauces, or soups, or have not been harvested at all. The director Dan Branson explained that this program benefited both food producers who would otherwise have to let abnormal produce go to waste, and consumers who could buy fresh produce at low prices. And he was right, considering how popular the line has become.
"It really went well beyond our expectation," Branson said. "I think it really spoke to the fact that Canadians are out there really looking for some Choices."
Of course, Canadians know that beauty is more than skin(外皮) deep, and they also recognize that they get the same flavor and nutritional (营养的) benefits in spite of appearances. The positive response to the offering of apples and potatoes showed the opportunity to expand the line and offer more choices at a greater price to Canadian families.
"If you grow produce in your backyard, there will be a lot of produce that won't look as pretty as what you will see in a grocery store”, said Branson. “ And nature doesn’t grow everything perfectly. I’d like to think if somebody were to take a NO Name Naturally Imperfect apple, put it right beside a No. 1 apple, close his eyes and eat them, there would be no difference.”

Daily workout
It is very easy to find tactical puzzles and train. However, you must try to solve them. Don’t just stare at the position for 10 seconds and then turn to the solution. You won’t learn anything. Have a go at trying to solve the puzzle. If you got it right then great — well done. However, if you got it wrong, then have another look. Ask yourself questions such as the following:
Why did I get it wrong?
What was wrong with my solution?
What was the weakness that the tactic exploited?
Where can you find tactical puzzles?
It’s easy. They are everywhere. Many newspapers, including Independent, and magazines have a daily or weekly chess puzzle. Key “chess puzzles” into Google and you’ll find a whole load of them. There are plenty of puzzle books.
Use software
Nowadays chess software is terribly cheap. World Champion Vladimir Kramnik recently lost a match 4 — 2 against a software program. This program is available for about £30.
In general, people use chess software for the wrong reasons. They often play game after game against the machine and get beaten every time. Bored with this, they turn the playing level right down so that the program is almost playing random moves and then they can beat it every time and feel better.
Neither method will help you improve. However, chess software can be a fantastically useful learning tool if used in two particular ways.
The first is if you have tried to solve a puzzle but it’s a bit too difficult and you don’t really understand the solution. Never mind — well done for trying. Now set the position up on the program and try different moves. Chess software is faultless at tactical play. It will instantly tell you the right and wrong moves and why they do or don’t work.
Secondly you can run over games you have played to learn where you have gone wrong and where you could have improved. Get into the habit of keeping the score (i.e. writing down the moves) of games that you play. This will help you to improve and refine your understanding of tactical themes and patterns.

If you can’t come to school, you should call your teacher or your classmate ask about homework. It is your responsibility to find out what homework you have missed. It is not the teacher’s job to remind you of the missed assignments.
You must not be absent on a test day. If you are seriously ill, call and let the teacher know you will not be there for the test. If your teacher allows a make-up test, you should take the test, again within one or two days after you return to class. Serious illness is the only reason for missing a test.
Be on time! It is impolite to be late. Also, it bothers other students. If you must come in late, be sure to do it quietly. Have your books and papers out of your bag before you come into the classroom. Then go to your seat and sit down quietly. In the USA, it is not necessary to knock before you enter the classroom. Most teachers will give you a low grade if you are often late.
In America, you should call your teacher by his or her last name instead of “teacher”. Also you should use Mr, Miss, Ms or Mrs before the last name (such as Mrs Smith or Mr Jones). The teacher will tell you the title that he or she likes. It is impolite in the USA to eat, drink or chew gum during class. Don’t do these until the break. Also, removing your shoes in the classroom is not polite.

The ancient Egyptians seem to have invented the first footwear with a firm sole (鞋底) — sandals. Egyptian royalty usually wore sandals that had a different style from those with lower status (身份), while slaves were not allowed to wear anything on their feet. The sandal is still the basic form of footwear in many countries, particularly those with a hot climate, whereas in cold climates, an entirely different type of shoe appeared — the moccasin — a slipper-shaped shoe made of soft but strong leather.
The Greeks were the first to develop shoes with heels (鞋跟). Then, in the Middle Ages, shoes with long points at the toe became very chic for the nobility. These shoes were often very difficult to wear. Other trends followed, with square-toed shoes, wide shoes, and even shoes that could make a woman stand two feet taller. Not surprisingly, these sometimes led to accidents. Even today, fashion rather than comfort often leads to the kind of shoes women wear.
Mechanical shoemaking appeared in the 1800s in North America. Until then, shoes had been made with the same kinds of hand tools used by the ancient Egyptians. And in 1858, a machine was invented that could stitch (缝合) the sole of a shoe to the upper part. Now it was possible to make shoes that were shaped to fit either the left or right foot. Toward the end of the 1800s came a new type of shoe that was specifically designed for sports — the sneaker — and it soon become an all-time favorite.

Although the ability to produce a functional heart or kidney this way likely lies years in the future, realistic near-term goals include bioprinting simpler structures. Living tissues printed outside the body, however, would still require implantation operation, which often involves large incisions (切 口)that increase the risk of infection and lengthen recovery time.
Scientists in Tsinghua University are working on a way to print cells directly inside the body. The idea would be to use existing minimally invasive (微创)operation techniques to insert 3D printing tools into patients and then lay down new tissues.
Much of the previous research has focused on treatments of skin and other tissues in the outer part of the body, because the necessary equipment is normally too large to access :he digestive tract (消化道)and other centrally located organs. Scientists in China wanted to develop a mini bioprinting robot that could enter the human body with relative case, so that they can use the technology for conditions like stomach ulcer (胃溃疡).
The resulting micro robot is just 30 millimeters wide—less than half the width of a credit card — and can fold to a length of 43 millimeters. Once inside a patient's body, it unfolds to become 59 millimeters long and can start bioprinting. The team has constructed clever mechanisms that make the system compact when entering the body yet extend to provide a large working area once past the tight entry. In their experiments, the researchers in China fitted the micro robot onto a long tube that can be inserted through bodily openings and successfully snaked it through a curved pipe into a transparent plastic model of a stomach.

When your Laker dream comes true tomorrow, you need to figure out a way to invest in the future of your family. This sounds simple, and you may think it's a no﹣brainer, but take some time to think on it further.
I said INVEST.
I did not say GIVE
Let me explain.
Purely giving material things to your siblings(兄弟姐妹) may appear to be right decision. So you buy them a car, a big house, pay, all of their bill. You want them to live a beautiful comfortable life, right?
But the day will come when you realize that as much as you believed you were doing the right thing, you were actually holding them back.
You will come to understand that you were taking care of them because it made YOU feel good, it made YOU happy to see them smiling and without a care in the world ﹣ and that was extremely selfish of you. While you were feeling satisfied with yourself, you were slowly eating away at their own dreams and ambitions. You were adding material things to their lives, but subtracting the most precious gifts of all.
Invest in their future, don't just give.
Use your success, wealth and influence to put them in the best position to realize their own dreams and find their true purpose. Put them through school, set them up with job interviews and help them become leaders in their own right. Hold them to the same level of hard work and dedication that it took for you to get to where you are now, and where you will eventually go.
I'm writing you now so that you can begin this process immediately, and so that you don't have to deal with the hurt and struggle of weaning(断绝) them off of the addiction that you facilitated That addiction only leads to anger, hatred and jealousy from everybody involved, including yourself.
As time goes on, you will see them grow independently and have their own ambitions and their own lives, and your relationship with all of them will be much better as a result.
Trust me, setting things up right from the beginning will avoid a ton of tears and headache, some of which remains to this day.
Much love,
