I was homeless on and off for seven years. I tried to get a job. I remember     1    (ask) everywhere if they had any work – shops, cafés and factories.

In my late     2     (teen) I finally got a casual night job at Pizza Hut. I also volunteered at the Fitzroy Community Credit Co-Op, a low-income budgeting service, so I was really trying to improve my life. It was     3     1995 that I learnt about The Body Shop’s homeless teenage retail traineeship program. I knew this was my chance     4    (make) a big change. I took that opportunity and made full    5    (usage)of it. The Body Shop encouraged me and showed me     6     life was really about. They also     7    (teach) me basic life skills like cooking and managing money. No-one treated me like “the homeless trainee”.

I believe that all you need to change your life is just one person who believes in you. Working for The Body Shop     8    (complete) turned my life around.
