How are you? It has been several weeks since I heard from you. I have been missing you a lot these days, so I think I should find out how you are doing. Hope this letter finds you in the best of health. Things here are fine, though they seem to be a little boring now without you.
Since school started, I have made some new friends who are great company. But I keep remembering what a great time we had during our summer vacations. Those long rides in the woods, often shopping at the mall and our video game matches were all so much fun. Things here are a little different, and it is going to take me some time to get used to them.
I have some great professors who make classes very interesting. I actually look forward to doing my homework for these classes. However, there are some really boring science classes that I just don’t seem to enjoy. They all sound so difficult, but I have to learn them. After a few years, I am going to drop these subjects forever! The good thing is that ail the friends I’ve made feel just the same way about these science classes.
How have things been with you? How about your school and all those great friends you keep talking about? Did you join that guitar class you wanted to so badly? Look forward to hearing from you.
By the way, Dad has bought me the latest video game controller. It is really amazing! Wait for you to come back here so that we can have some more video game matches!
Yours truly,
Aaron

They didn’t busy themselves buying a bigger house, because that would mean working harder to pay the monthly mortgage(按揭贷款), working overtime or taking a second job. Who would go running with me then? Who would read stories to me?
They didn’t burden themselves with buying an expensive car because that would mean worrying about installment(分期付款) bills. Besides, walking to the shopping centre every Saturday afternoon with me gave my dad his needed exercise, and made me feel so special.
One of my heart’s delights was seeing Dad and Mom in their bedroom at night, after our nightly family prayer. The lights were turned off, and I’d see the figure of my father seated on his old chair and Mom standing behind him, gently massaging his shoulders. I’d hear them talk about what happened during their day. Even as a child, I sensed their quiet pleasure in being together.
My question today: Could they have done this rich practice each night and nourished(滋润) their marriage if they had been busy paying for expensive clothes for themselves or their kids, or if they had been worrying about monthly bills for new hi-tech equipment? I don’t think so. And I’ve made a choice: I don’t want that of life either.

I began to dive into different communities to find anything and everything I could to help her. I spent most of my time researching and making phone calls. We would end up traveling to Philly every year, sometimes many times a year.
We were not prepared for everything that was to come in the following years. At 2 years old, Jordyn gave her first step. She had her first disease attack, but it didn’t seem to affect her development. But in the summer of 2018, Jordyn had a horrible attack. She hasn’t been the same since. She gradually lost her ability to crawl, walk and even sit up on her own. She now struggles to hold her head up and her energy level has dropped too low.
I’ve gotten really good at dealing with my emotion. Looking back, I guess I’ve always been that way. It takes a lot of energy for a mother when she knows that only a miracle will keep her daughter. The truth is, though, sometimes I just want to scream. It’s the lie I tell myself that I can keep moving forward.
Hug your babies tight and appreciate them for every little thing they can do. Be in the moment and try to give them space when they make a mistake. It’s not a sign of weakness, but rather, a sign of bravery.

The medicine that I take for my rheumatoid arthritis causes me to wake up in the middle of the night with a dry mouth. January 15, 2016, was no different. I, Indiana, US, awoke at 2:30am needing water.
I was walking back upstairs from the kitchen when I heard my bulldog , Rock. Whatever Rock was doing down there, it made enough noise for me to go to him. By the time I made it to the bottom of the stairs, he was running up, and he never came up the stairs, no matter what. I think that was his way of telling me, "We've got to go back up. "When I got to the top of the stairs, I turned around and saw a light on, but I didn't remember leaving one on. I walked downstairs again, and that's when I saw fire. I immediately shouted to my wife to wake up and get our three kids. I grabbed a knife and cut out the plastic that covered the window to the porch roof. I then pried open the window and kicked out the screen. I started screaming for help. But help never came. I got everybody out on the roof and threw a blanket out there so we wouldn't slip off. It was cold, January cold. Then I started screaming for help. But help never came.
Now, I'm scared of heights and have physical issues, what with my rheumatoid arthritis, but I couldn't let my family burn up. So I jumped off the roof. I didn't scoot to the edge; I just jumped and got the wind knocked out of me when I landed. I found our ladder, placed it against the house, and climbed back up to the roof. I wrapped my arms around my daughter and carried my nine - month - old with my teeth, by his little sleeper. Then I climbed down the ladder. Once on the ground, I had my little girl hold her brother, and I went back up to the roof to get my other daughter. Then I went back up again and got my wife. I tried to get my dog, but he just disappeared in the black smoke. I never saw him alive again,
I'm no hero. I'm just an ordinary person who'd help anybody. This happened to be the time when I helped my own family. I live to protect my family. Just likeRock—he lived to protect us.

After all, this is the 21st century and the idea of children working is just unthinkable. This is, until you are told that they are all pupils of stage schools, and that the “work” they go off to is to go on the stage in a theatre.
Stage schools often act as agencies to supply children for stage and television work. More worthy of the name “stage school” are those few places where children attend full time, with a training for the theatre and a general education.
A visit to such schools will leave you in no doubt that the children enjoy themselves. After all, what lively children wouldn’t settle for spending only half the day doing ordinary school work, and acting, singing or dancing their way through the other half of the day?
Then of course there are times for the children to make a name and make a little money in some big shows. Some stage schools give their children too much professional work at such a young age. But the law is very tight on the amount they can do. Those under 13 are limited to 40 days in the year; those over 13 to 80 days.
The schools themselves admit that not all children will be successful in the profession for which they are being trained. So what happens to those who don’t make it? While all the leading schools say they place great importance on children getting good study results, the facts seem to suggest this is not always the case.

C.stage training at school | D.acting, singing or dancing after class |
A.He thinks highly of what they have to offer. |

C.He feels uncomfortable about children putting on night shows. |
D.He doubts the standard of ordinary education they have reached. |
Four Ways to Be a Great Roommate
Having a roommate can be one of the best experiences in college or, easily, one of the worst.
◇Talk things out. Communication is key. If something happens, sit down with your roommate and have a face-to-face conversation. I've seen roommate relationships fall apart because something happens and, instead of talking to each other, the two start complaining about their roommates behind their backs.
◇Don't expect to be best friends. Some roommates become the best of friends, and some don't. Don't put pressure on yourself or your roommate, especially when you first meet.
◇Ask before you take. This applies to food, clothes and anything else. If you want to keep a relationship going, show your roommate that you have respect for what is his or hers by asking first.
◇Clean up after yourself. This should do without saying. Don't be lazy. Or, at least, don't bury your roommate in your clothes and garbage. Most people I've come across in college are messy.
A.So you need to think twice before you help your roommates out. |
B.This creates nothing but awkward situations and unhappiness. |
C.Even if you both agree to share everything, you should still ask. |
D.You don't have all the time to clean your room and keep it organized. |
E.It all starts with you to have a good relationship with your roommate. |
F.Sometime you get stuck with someone who has tons of negative energy. |
G.Remember, you're trying to make a new friend, not to scare your roommate away. |

My senior high school is called Yantai No. 1 Middle School of Shandong with a long history , which can date back to 1931. When I recall my memorable senior high school life, I feel happy and impressed.
To be honest, my senior high school life was tiring but I really enjoyed it. I focused myself on studies and studied hard to realize my dream. At that time, I got up at 5: 30 a. m. and went to bed late in order to have more time to review what I had learned in the day. In addition to study, I also took part in some activities such as English speech contests and calligraphy (书法) competitions.
Our class was like a big family. I got along well with my classmates. We always discussed topics of all kinds after class. I made many friends in the family and we still keep in touch with each other after we graduated. Luckily, my teachers were also very enthusiastic and friendly. We were seen as their children. They not only taught us knowledge but told us how to study better.
What's more, my dormitory life is also worth mentioning. Living far away from my home, I was quite independent by the end of the first semester at senior high. My roommates and I worked as a team to do the cleaning every day. We had a good time living as a family together, and my social skills were gradually improved.
This is my senior high school life, busy but fulfilling. I will never forget it.
