Washington D.C. is a destination filled with sites of historic and current importance. During a visit, you can learn about the structure of the government and see monuments, museums and much more.
After exploring some of Washington D.C.’s amazing monuments, the next stop should be to plan out a visit to some of the Smithsonian Institution’s complex of museums. With over 19 museums and the National Zoological Park, it’s unlikely that you will have the time to explore each of these museums on a single visit. The best way to enjoy the Smithsonian Institution is to plan out which museums you are most interested in visiting. If you are interested in culture, the National Museum of African American History and Culture is a wonderful choice, where you can learn about the richness and diversity of the African American experience.

What should I wear?
If you're lucky enough to visit Egypt between November and February, pack a sweater. You’ll need it - the desert gets rather cold at night. During the day, the temperature will be agreeable and comfortable. Any other time, pack as if you're going to Phoenix of Vegas in August. For the ladies, bathing suits are normal if there's a pool where you are going, but leave the string bikini at home it is a Muslim country, after all. Last, if you are planning on visiting any mosques (清真寺) or certain parts of upper Egypt, ladies will need to plan on bringing something that comes at least to the elbow(肘部), and no shorts for men or women in those areas.
What special things do I need to pack?
One of my favorite things in the world to bring to Egypt is an Evian water, a sprayer with a fine mist of Evian water. You may be able to find it in your local drug store. Spray a little on your face or head, and your body temperature will feel like it's dropped 10 or15 degrees. Other items include your camera, sun block and extra batteries .
What medical preparation do I need?
In a word: none!. The one thing you may come down with in Egypt is politely called ''Pharoah's Revenge''. The thing that gets rid of Pharoah's Revenge is a regionally produced medicine, and is available at every drugstore for $1 a box. Don't drink local water. Do drink bottled water, avoid the skins of fresh vegetables, and you’ll be fine.
1. What clothing is proper for ladies visiting a mosque?A.String bikinis. | B.Bathing suits | C.Long-sleeve clothes | D.Shorts |
A.To relieve your thirst | B.To cool yourself down. |
C.To prevent sunburns | D.To drive away insects |
A.a battle | B.a tale | C.a disease | D.a plant |
A.describe a journey to Egypt to the tourist | B.offer some practical tips on traveling in Egypt |
C.warn readers of the poisonous insects in Egypt | D.attract more tourists to Egypt |
The best way to enjoy these famous redwoods is to ride a railbike, a two-person, pedal-operated vehicle that sits steadily on the train tracks. This allows passengers to ride along the Redwood Route in electric-powered and almost silent bike. The bikes are extremely easy to ride and operate, making them suitable for all ages. They also come with an electric-assist if you want to take a break from pedaling or need a bit of help.
The railbike leaves from the Skunk Train Depot and will take you on a one-hour round trip ride through the redwood forest along the Pudding Creek Estuary. The Redwood Forest is a dreamlike place, particularly on a rainy or foggy day, like a scene from Jurassic Park. With the railbikes traveling along the Pudding Creek Estuary, you can't help but think that a brontosaurus might be around the next corner. The end of the line is at Glen Blair Junction, which is 3.5 miles along the Redwood Route. This site has been changed into a beautiful stop with picnic tables and easy to hike trails into the redwoods.
You'll need to pay $250 to rent a bike, plus the 8% Historic Preservation Assessment. There is no discount for single riders, so be sure to visit with a partner. If you have a large family, you can also rent multiple bikes and take the trip as a group, remaining close to each other while still being able to move forward at your own pace.
1. What can be learned about a railbike in Paragraph 2?A.It is powered by solar energy. | B.It is a bike ridden on rails. |
C.It suits the young only. | D.It makes a great noise. |
A.At the Skunk Train Depot. | B.At the Pudding Creek Estuary. |
C.At Glen Blair Junction. | D.At the Jurassic Park. |
A.$20. | B.$230. | C.$250. | D.$ 270. |

I was reading his writing before boarding a plane on my first trip to Shanghai in 2016. By that time, I was doing research at home on how South American writers, diplomats (外交官) and politicians had developed a new world outlook. The opportunity of my life appeared when I was told I was recommended as the first scholar at a research center co-built by a research council of Argentina and Shanghai University for an exchange program.
My first year living in Shanghai was full of discoveries and adventures. I was in a constant state of curiosity. Every day, I discovered, tried and learned something new. In other words, the city impressed me: Its modern architecture and the opportunities that Shanghai gave to everyone made me feel that this place was one of the most dynamic places I’d ever been to. I recognized that this city allowed both locals and foreigners to rediscover and reinvent themselves. The experience of being in touch with a different culture has enriched my way of looking at and thinking about the world.
After three years, my program at the joint center came to an end. But Shanghai had another new surprise for me: I got an offer to work as a professor in Fudan University, which is an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse. Gradually, I regarded Shanghai as my second home and I fully understood the meaning of Sebrelli’s writing one day walking through my favorite spots of the city on Wuyuan Road and Wulumuqi Road. Several places made me have a strange feeling: The combination of Art Deco buildings and local stands on the street created an image of my homeland. At that moment, I understood that this city, as Sebrelli wrote, “is now a part of myself”.

I recently returned to my home city and my first stop was at a museum on the River Mersey. Blanketed in mist (薄雾), Victorian architecture rose from the banks of the river, responded to the sounds of sea-birds, and appeared unbelievably charming. When I headed toward the centre, I found myself surrounded by buildings that mirror the best palaces of Europe. It is not hard to imagine why, on first seeing the city, most visitors would be overpowered by the beauty of the noble buildings, which are solid signs of Liverpool’s history.
As if stress its cultural role, Liverpool has more museums and galleries (美术馆) than most cities in Britain. At Walker Art Gallery, I was told that it has best collections of Victorian paintings in the world, and is the home of modern art in the north of England. However, culture is more than galleries. Liverpool offers many music events. As Britain’s No.1 music city, it has the biggest city music festival in Europe, and its musicians are famous all over the world. Liverpool is also well-known for its football and other sports events. Every year, the Mersey River Festival attracts thousands of visitors, madding the city a place of wonder.
As you would expect from such a city, there are restaurants serving food from around the world. When my trip was about to complete, I chose to rest my legs in Liverpool’s famous Philharmonic pub(酒馆). It is a monument to perfection, and a heritage attraction itself.
Being a World Heritage Site, my home city is certainly a place of “outstanding universal value”. It is a treasure house with plenty of secrets for the world to explore.
