And since then, she has been running the distance of a marathon. Most of the time, she averages just over five hours to complete a run. Until five years ago, she was not very active. But then she looked into running and decided to give it a try. The sport ended up being quite costly. Currently, she runs on an artificial leg made of a strong, light material known as carbon fiber. The material, which is designed specially for running, costs about $10, 000.

But Jacky says her investment has been well worth it. The biggest struggle used to be that she had to admit part of her body was gone. “Running really changed my life,” she said. “It helped me accept myself as an amputee (截肢者). It gave me a sense of freedom. I fell in love with the process of pushing my body further just to see what I could do.”

However, she has faced both physical and mental difficulties during her record-breaking attempt. On one recent day, Jacky said she felt like giving up at 24 kilometers and began to cry. “I had a total emotional breakdown. I was like, ‘I just can’t do this.’” she said.

Jacky is documenting her progress online and has also gained a large social media following. As she nears the end of her goal, Jacky is hoping to inspire a single thought in others. She tells people, “You’re stronger than you think and you’re able to do so much more.”

Before Cerveny's dad could reach his son, another runner—Brand on Schutt—was at his side to offer a helping hand. His first attempt to get Cerveny up failed, but like Cerveny, he refused to quit, too. With a second pull, Cerveny was on his feet.

At a measured jog, with Cerveny holding Schutt for support and Sehutt helping Cerveny maintain balance, the two completed the final 75 meters of the course together. Schutt even made sure the injured runner crossed the finish line first, securing his opponent a faster time, Although Cerveny was automatically and is qualified for having received help, Schutt's tire for the race weld stand.

At first, Pipin would accompany Abdul to school every day but now he makes it himself. When the rainy season arrives, the road is slippery and dangerous. On days like that, his parents try to use motorcycle taxis, which depends on whether they have the money to spare. If there is no money, Abdul continues his crawl (爬行) to school by hand.

At school, Abdul’s principal Epi sees huge potential in Abdul. “We see he can follow along in the classroom just fine and he has no problems socializing with others,” said Epi. His teachers describe him as a child with enthusiasm and effort in schoolwork. Despite his limitations, Abdul is active in extracurricular activities, especially in sports.

He wants to attend university in the big city. His dream is to become a firefighter because he wants to help people in need. He has other ideals, namely becoming a doctor. For him, the goal is also to help other people, especially those who experience pain.

Abdul continues to struggle for his dreams. His love for life and learning has given him the opportunity to go far and his support system is pushing him further into his bright future.
