Tips for you to overcome comparison

Identify your triggers (诱因) and avoid them. To stop comparing yourself to others, pay attention to the people or events that cause your behavior. Do you feel discontent with your life after looking at luxury goods?     1     Write down your comparative thoughts as soon as they happen so you can limit your exposure to these situations or avoid them altogether.

2     When you minimize your abilities, it becomes easier to compare yourself to others. To avoid this negative behavior, make a list of your strengths and talents. By acknowledging your best qualities, you can learn to love yourself.

Keep a gratitude journal. To start journaling, reflect on the little things that bring you joy and write down why you’re grateful for them. Keeping a gratitude journal can increase your chances of overcoming comparison, but you may forget about it if you have a busy schedule.     3

Work on improving your abilities. Instead of focusing on your “weaknesses”, reflect on the areas you can improve.     4     Besides, don’t be afraid to ask other people for help along the way. By prioritizing yourself, you can boost your self-confidence and find your place and value.

Appreciate others instead of envying them.     5     If you have friends who are highly achieving people, you might consider that their networks are full of people who might be able to help you become more successful in your life. Instead of envying their success, be supportive and use their success to your advantage.

A.Write down your positive qualities.
B.Do you set goals to achieve your dream?
C.Consider the advantage that others can bring you.
D.Recognize everyone’s circumstances are entirely unique.
E.Take classes or workshops to develop your skills and techniques.
F.Is there someone who constantly makes you feel bad about yourself?
G.Set a reminder to write at least once a week so you can actively express appreciation.

【推荐1】Focusing on tasks is hard enough. Who can put in a straight hour of concentration when our favorite websites, apps, and other sources of instant pleasure are calling?     1     Exercise and maintenance(维护) can channel our concentration to be more productive. Here are some natural ways to increase mental focus.

●Disconnect from your devices. Taking time away from your devices — and technology in general — is a great way to increase focus.     2     Without the added chatter provided by social media and the comparisons and anxieties that come with it, you’ll have more time and a greater desire to focus on the tasks in front of you, whatever they are.

●Tidy your spaces. The space around you impacts your well-being. Bright, open spaces connect us to natural light and improve our moods. Messy spaces are distracting, overwhelming, and destroy our focus.     3     Therefore it allows your brain to flourish.

●Create a schedule. Schedules are hateful to some because they’re associated with a forced sense of busyness.     4     By creating a schedule — and sticking to it — you’re training your brain to expect periods of focused work with a scheduled reward at the end.

5     A good workout can really be the thing that changes everything for you. I am much happier and lighter after a quick workout, because the endorphins(内啡肽) create a healthy, natural high. If you want a great way to zone in on your mental focus that is quick and easy, you can begin putting a quick jog or a few sets of sprints into your day.

A.Exercise to focus.
B.Eat for performance.
C.However, your ability to focus is like a muscle.
D.But there are some real advantages to using a schedule.
E.The methods that work best also depend on your body and brain.
F.Keeping your general environment free of mess removes your focus difficulty.
G.Leaving your technology behind after work helps you feel energetic the next day.

【推荐2】You may be old enough to remember Evelyn Wood’s name for speed reading and speed learning. Inspired, her former business partner, Wechsler, shares four of the techniques successful speed readers use.    1

Hold Your Material at a 30-Degree Angle

Hold your book, or whatever you’re reading, at a 30-degree angle to your eyes.     2     Wechsler says reading from flat material is “painful to your retina, causes eye tiredness, and after about two hours often leads to dry eye and irritation”.

Move Your Head Left to Right as You Read

Moving your head slightly back and forth while you read helps stabilize images on your retina.     3     Wechsler says, “The secret of reading multiple words at a time is widening your vision.” This practice alone will help you increase your speed from 200 to 2,500 words per minute.

Read with a Pointer

Wechsler advocates using a pen, or pointer of some kind, even your finger, to underline each sentence as you read. Your vision will allow you to move through a sentence six times faster than reading each word.     4     “When using a pointer, never permit the point to touch the page,” Wechsler says.

Exercise Your Eyes for 60 Seconds Before Reading

5     “It sharpens your vision and activates your sight to speed up your learning speed,” Wechsler says. “This daily one-minute exercise may help you avoid eye-muscle tiredness.” Focus on a single spot on the wall 10 feet in front of you. With your hand extended at eye level, trace a symbol with your eyes.

A.Now you can learn with these four easy tips.
B.Relax the muscles on either side of your arms.
C.Never read material lying flat on a table or desk.
D.Your eyes become smooth and comfortable in 10 minutes.
E.Wechsler suggests you “warm up” your eyes before you start reading.
F.It also helps you stop reading individual words and read phrases instead.
G.The pointer helps you create a pace and focuses your attention on the page.

【推荐3】How Can I Fight Laziness?

Lazy people find it hard to fight laziness.     1

One way to fight laziness is to get enough sleep. Many people lack sleep constantly, since they stay up too late and get up too early to prepare for work. These people have little motivation (动力) once they arrive at their workplace. Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to put off things.     2

Another way to fight laziness is to change your mind from passive to active.     3     Others take a more proactive (积极的,先发制人的) approach, viewing each task as a challenge they must overcome alone. Laziness sets in when you no longer feel in charge of your own life.

4     A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often contributes to laziness. Create a reward system for yourself, just as parents do for a child. Complete a few tasks and reward yourself with what you enjoy, such as a good dinner or a film.

Laziness can also be a lasting problem at home. Couples and children may all have different energy levels, but laziness can be spread if not dealt with immediately. To fight family laziness, set an example.     5     Others in the home may eventually follow your example and perform their own task. It is difficult to practice laziness when you are surrounded by motivated people.

Finally, taking exercise regularly can help you fight laziness. Enough exercise and a balanced diet can help you to develop a healthy lifestyle, thus enabling you to have more energy and help lift your spirits.

A.Limit the number of your hobbies.
B.Laziness may lead to poverty or other bad effects.
C.Be the first to collect and wash dishes after a meal.
D.Some people treat their lives as if they were pushed from task to task.
E.Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations (诱惑) that surround them.
F.However, laziness can be defeated once a few changes have been made in your mind.
G.By adjusting your sleep schedule to provide a few more hours of meaningful rest, you can fight laziness throughout the day.
