Many of us let our lives become so busy with work and other commitments that we don’t get around to scheduling time for pleasure and renewal(叙旧)with the friends, relatives and acquaintances we already have.
Making the effort to call your friends more regularly and to accept more of the invitations you receive from others can improve your social life in a hurry!
Are there any people you could call right now and be assured of a pleasant welcome? Are there people that you could count on to help you in time of difficulty? Can you have close talks with them? Do you have fun when you are together? Are you happy to have them in your life?
If you haven’t seen much of them lately, is it because you have become too busy? Have you grown apart? Was there an argument?
If the main reason you haven’t been getting together with the people you already know is that you have got too busy, take a good look at how you spend your time. Compare it with your real values and priorities(优先考虑的事)in life. Is your busy lifestyle really bringing you the quality of life that you want?
If you have become too busy for friends, why has this happened? Are you seeking material toys in your life at the expense of relationships with other human beings? Have you allowed your time to be over-committed because you never say “No” to anyone? Do you insist on doing things yourself that could be appointed to others? If so, why? Do you believe that everything depends on you?
Examine whether the way you are now spending your time accurately reflects your deepest values and priorities. Make sure that you schedule adequate time for the things that are truly most important to you.
If you really want to keep friends in your life, make a space in your schedule, and a space in your heart for them.

Hi Irene, I am so upset with my best friend because she refuses to accept my apology or listen to me. She won’t forgive me no matter what I say. She says there’s no way back and I should let it go. Signed, Maya |
I can understand how upsetting it is to lose a best friend. Best friends have an emotional investment (感情投资) in the friendship. They also spend a great deal of time together, so breakups leave a huge sadness in both friends’ lives.
You haven’t shared the details of the argument or misunderstanding you had with your friend but problems may appear unexpectedly in all relationships. Sincere apologies can often smooth things over. In fact, they can make the relationship stronger.
Why won’t your friend forgive you? Here are a few possibilities:
·The mistake was so serious (e. g. a poor judgment) that it was unforgivable;
·Your friend over-reacted (反应过激) for uncertain reasons (e. g. perhaps because of her past or other things going on in her life now);
·This was one of a series of mistakes or misunderstandings, a final straw (稻草) that led your friend to say there was no way back.
You did the right thing by apologizing. Now you have to take a step back and give your friend the time she needs to cool off. You could try writing to her a note if you want to explain yourself but avoid apologizing repeatedly.
If she doesn’t respond or change her mind, there’s not much more that you can do. It takes two persons to sustain a close friendship.
Hope this helps and that you begin to heal from this loss.
Best,
Irene

New York City public schools, for example, recently blocked ChatGPT access on school computers and networks, citing “concerns about negative impacts on student learning, and concerns regarding the safety and accuracy of content.” Schools in other cities, including Seattle, have also restricted access.
A US’ online course provider Study. com recently asked 1,000 students over the age of 18 about the use of ChatGPT in the classroom. The responses were surprising. Around 89 percent said they’d used it on homework. Over 50 percent said they used ChatGPT to write an essay, while 22 percent admitted to having asked ChatGPT for a paper outline.
While the chatbot (聊天机器人) is raising fears of academic cheating on school campuses, some education insiders believe introducing the Al-ended tools to the academics could even overturn the traditional education.
“For researchers, finding valuable scientific problems and solving them in creative ways come first, and then writing academic papers. Some Al-enabled writing tools can create and polish words or even write long text based on a few keywords shortly,” said Zhu Wei, a law professor in China. For example, ChatGPT helps writers gather reference materials for their papers, which not only increases the efficiency of the work, but also allows researchers to devote more energy to more creative work.
“Whether to use ChatGPT depends on whether there is cognitive investment in using it. For those students who just use it to cope with homework or exams,” Zhu said, “this is putting the cart before the horse, which should be restricted. To avoid academic misconducts through using the tools,” Zhu suggested introducing software to help educators sift through text generated by ChatGPT. He believes schools should embrace ChatGPT as a teaching aid which could unlock creativity in students. “The core role of such tools is not to replace human thinking, but to enhance human thinking,” Zhu said.

Yes, you read that correctly—the very mode of transportation that many American schools insist—the only safe way to deliver kids to school is now being criminalized in the United Kingdom.
The decision to fine any vehicles seen dropping off or picking up kids with in a particular zone of east London comes from city councillors’(议员) long-term efforts to make the area safer and less crowded. They say they’ve been trying for years “to encourage sensible driving and parking”, but in vain. Neighborhood residents complain frequently about their driveways being blocked by illegally parked cars for 15 minutes or more,often while they’re trying to get to work, and the streets are long overcrowded.
Now the rules have changed. Some parents are angry. Angie Baillieul is a mother who made the “big hammer” comment and says the crackdown is “way over the top.” The nearest drop-off point for her six- year-old is now a five-minute walk from the school. Others are happy with the decision, severe though it may seem. Councillor Jason Frost said :
“Traffic has significantly reduced,and more children are now walking to school, which is a great outcome. I would rather have complaints that we are slightly inconveniencing parents than hear that a child had been seriously injured because nothing was done.”
I witness daily the chaos created by these in-town drivers,when I walk my own kids to school. There’s a parking lot overflowing with vehicles and a slow-moving train of cars moving in circles,many filling the air with harmful smokes. Meanwhile, the conversations around child over-weight and the importance of daily physical activity continue to stand out in schools.
1. Why is Angie Baillieul opposed to the new rule?A.She is often fined by London police. | B.She will lose her job as a school driver. |

For example, am absolutely passionate about helping people work through blocks or barriers such as hurt, guilt, shame, and self-doubt in order to experience the freedom to be authentically who they are.
I believe when you find your passion, you will experience freedom, happiness and, ultimately, less anxiety and more peace. It sounds so simple. However, many people do not really know what they are passionate about because they have lost a sense of who they are. We have spent so much time trying to please others or creating stories about why we can’t do something. What if you could change this? How would your life be different?
Identify and write down the areas you love. Technology, gardening, helping others, inner design, leadership, finances, health, fitness, writing, photography, art, managing projects, and the list goes on.
Look at your thoughts around placing more emphasis on the area where you pursue either personally or professionally. What are you telling yourself? I’m not good enough. I don’t have the time or money. Whatever it is, work on deleting this from your thoughts and replacing them with the opposite statement.
Create more time in your calendar or research what add it information or resources you might need to integrate this more in your life. Maybe it’s getting a coach or instructor to help keep you on track, reduce your fears and work on your limiting conversations. Set goals and make them happen.
Living out your purpose may mean a different job or it may mean focusing your time differently or making your passion more of a priority in your life. We all matter and have a purpose. It’s never too late to create what you want.
This quote by Bob Proctor summarizes what this all means, “Your purpose explains what you are doing with your life. Your vision explains how you are living your purpose. Your goals enable you to realize your vision.”
