Are You Ready, Sam?

The sound of the birds woke me up. Today, I had to give a report about Hawaii （夏威夷）in front of my class. I was really _______ to do it.

At breakfast, I tried to relax, but Mom asked,   “Are you ready, Sam?”

“Yes, ” I answered _______ because I wasn't really.

On the school bus, I talked about baseball with my friend, Billy. It was a great way to get my mind off the _______. But as we got close to the school, I could feel my heart beating fast and my hands sweating（流汗）. I _______ this!

As I walked into the classroom, Mrs. Owens was smiling and said hello to me.

“Hi, ” I said and quickly sat in my seat. After we took our spelling test, Mrs. Owens said it was time to _______ our special day. She said, “Sam, you’ll be first.”

I got up slowly, looking at the _______ as I walked to the front of the room. I looked up and found everyone was looking at me. I was too _______ to say anything.

Mrs. Owens came by me, and put her hand on my back. She said to the class, “Sam has worked very hard on his report, and I know it is very _______.” Then she turned to me and asked, “Sam, what did you like best about your report on Hawaii?”

I tried to think about all the fun things I read about surfing, volcanoes（火山）, andpineapples, and I started to _______. I told the class about everything I knew. It was fun. It wasn't scary after all. The class clapped（鼓掌） when I finished and Mrs. Owens was smiling. I felt so ________ at that moment.

Many people today like exercise. Some like to run, and some like to walk. Others dance or play balls. They do different kinds of exercise. Why do people like exercising? It's good for their health. And exercise helps make them tired, so they sleep better at night.

You may like to run. If you do, take care of your feet. Make sure you have the right shoes. Some people like to run on roads, but they must watch out for cars.

Walking is a good exercise. You may take a long walk in the park. It's more fun if you don't go alone. Go with a friend. The two of you may have a great time.

Some people like to swim. But others don't like to go into the water. If you like this kind of exercise, make sure that someone is watching you. You must always take care when you are in the water. Jumping a rope(跳绳) or riding a bike is also good exercise. There are many other sports. Find out what you like. You may need help at first. Some people often do exercise, and they can help you. Do exercise every day, and you will know what it makes you feel.

If you have a smartphone（智能手机）,the Internet is always with you. You can use the Internet for shopping, learning and chatting with your friends and so on. But the Internet can also be a       dangerous place. So, you must be careful.

Keep your personal（个人的）information. First, don' t share too much your personal information on the Internet. For example, don't send your phone number or number of a bank account （账号）.Be careful what you say on the Internet. Second, you can't let everyone see your everything. Finally, be careful of new people. Don't believe them exactly （完全地）. Some of them are dishonest（不诚实的）. They usually use the Internet to try to get money by cheating. The Internet is a good way to meet new people, but be careful. It is important for us to control information.

It is very important for us to be honest. Don't post other people's pictures. Don't hurt others. It's also smart to keep away from fights on the Internet. Don't answer rude（无理的）messages and so on. In this way we can have a better Internet place.

Mike was walking his dog, Paul, when the dog had to go. It was garbage day, looking around but seeing no public garbage bins (公共垃圾桶), so Mike put the bag of dog poop (狗屎) into someone else's bin. When Mike turned around, the irritated person who owned the bin was shouting at him. "Hey! This isn't your garbage bin. You can't put the bag in here!" Mike quickly walked away to stop things from getting worse. As he walked toward home, he kept thinking, "Was I in the wrong?" Then Mike posted his story online, and lots of people replied.

Mike said about 80 percent were OK with others using their garbage bins for bags of dog poop. Some would allow it anytime. Others would like the bags to be put in before the garage was picked up, so the bin wouldn't smell for days on end. The 20 percent, who didn't allow others to use their bins for dog poop, said that people had incorrectly used their bins.

"Having a dog and being a dog owner had something to do with it," Mike said. Mike has a good idea of working this out. "If you can have a piece of paper that says, 'Yes, you can put your dog's poop bags in my bin,' I think we can find the answer to the problem," Mike says.

If you think you are too shy and want to be a little outgoing, try the following rules. You can make it.

Tell people you are shy. Just let people know that you are a shy kid. When they know that, they'll understand you better. This also helps you feel more relaxed at home when talking with others.

Try to smile more. People will think you are friendly and easy to talk to. Remember that most of us would like to talk to friendly people and we will stay away from an angry-looking face.

Talk to others first. If you find it hard to do, say something nice about people around you.Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to those people?

Turn your attention （注意） to somewhere else. Think more about ways to enjoy the party or the game. Don't worry about your looks or care if people like you.

Reward yourself. Each time after you say “Hi” or smile at someone for the first time, say to yourself “You did it!” or it could be something bigger, like buying yourself an ice-cream.

Keep trying and one day you won't be shy any more when you talk to others.

Most children like watching TV. It’s very interesting. By watching TV, they can see and learn     41    (many) and know many things about their country and the world. Of course, they can also learn over the radio. They can learn something     42     (quick) from those TV programs because they can h    43     and watch at the same time.
