There are many reasons why I encourage people to travel, and I know that the experience will make one a better person.

I remember when I was traveling that l began to know the world better. The world is not just about me. my small town and home. Although you will meet different people from all over the world. You will realize that people are similar in their dreams. hopes and feelings.

Enjoy exploring the different cultures. and you will also find that people are different in some of the things they do and how they live. Once you understand their ways. it need not be strange or scary. Often we read stories about other cultures in books. Only when we visit their areas. Do we find that those stories are sometimes wrong?

One thing you may find out is that there are problems all over the world. We cannot just get money to send to these areas and hope that will work them out. The world should get involved(干预) and help wherever there are problems. People everywhere should be given a chance. It is so easy to ignore(忽视) this if one does not travel and explore. One can look around and see that so many people have many challenges worse than ours. One can realize that sometimes our biggest problems are not that big after all.

On your journey you will meet lots of new friends. Talking to strangers and finding about their lives is a great way to spend your time. You will certainly be more confident after having to cope with problems and make many decisions along the way.

When you travel, you have to be on your own in some situations. You will surprise yourself by how well you can do that. All your special experiences could make an interesting book to read. It would be filled with all your adventures and special memories.

Traveling around and seeing so much happening in the world around us is a wonderful experience. If we could an just travel a little more and share our experiences, we would all be better people and the world would be a better place.

A teacher says music education in schools has kind of turned into amusement, Classroom lessons focus heavily on pop while understanding the classical （古典的）art form and its history should be paid attention to.

A professor in music and music education at the University of NSW, Robert Walker, argues that all students should study the works of Western classical composers such as Haydn and Tchaikovsky.

Professor Walker says students are missing out on an important part of the culture heritage （遗产）because they fail to study classical music, as the little music that children learn at school is mainly pop. The lack （缺乏）of music teaching is serious, especially in government schools where there are not enough specialist （专业的） music teachers.

A national review in 2005 made 15 suggestions, but Professor Walker said it still failed to deal with the lack of classical music taught in schools.

"I'm not against pop music, but it's very simple, and not difficult either to play or to sing, " Professor Walker says. "But classical music is challenging and although it is part of Australia's culture heritage, most children learn it only through Hollywood films. "

"At least children ought to know what's happening in Western culture. It's part of culture heritage," he says. "Asian students know more about Western classical music than most children in the West. "

Professor Walker has taught music and music teachers in Britain, Canada and Australia and is a former chief （首席的）examiner for the International Baccalaureate and a former chairman of the research committee of the International Society for Music Education. Professor Walker says no school curriculum （课程）in Australia lists a piece of music that children should study , such as the Mendelssohn's.

"This lack of standard texts means that some children can be brought up totally on Western classical music, others on Elvis Presley, or on any music the teacher wants to teach. The situation should be changed as soon as possible, " he says.

Eve had an idea. She took out a piece of white paper. Then Eve opened her crayon box and     49     flowers on the paper. She smiled and said. “I can give Mom flowers after all!” Next she painted some of the flowers orange, some red. and some yellow.       50     Eve carried the flowers to Mom.

Taking away a city’s rubbish is a big job. Every day trucks come into a city to _________ it. Most rubbish is made up of things we can’t eat or use. If we kept these things we would soon have a mountain of rubbish.

In some cities the rubbish is collected and taken outside of city to a dump(垃圾场). Often the city dump is placed where the ground is low or there is a big hole. The kitchen rubbish is broken into small pieces and sent into the ②sewage system. The sewage system takes away the used water from toilets, bathtubs and other places.

To keep mice and flies away. Some earth is used to cover the newly dumped rubbish. Later, grass may be planted on the rubbish-filled land. Finally. a house or a school may be built there, and then you’d never know that this had once been an old rubbish dump.

In other cities the rubbish is burnt in special places. The fire burns everything. ③but the metal. Sometimes the metal can be used again in factories where things are made of metal. The food parts of rubbish are put in special piles where they slowly change into something called humus(腐植物), which looks like black earth. It is rich with the kinds of things that feed plants and help make them grow.

What do you want to be when you grow up? And what’s an ideal Job? In our hearts we all dream of an ideal job. However, each of us has his own idea of what this job should be. In my opinion, it depends on types of work. the flexible(灵活的) hours. and the income(收入).

To begin with different people choose different types of work. Everyone chooses an ideal type of work for himself. For example, some people work better if they knew all the duties of the job and have the right skills to do it. Some people prefer a more________job, in which they have to solve lots of difficulties.

Secondly, (B) the more flexible hours the job has, the more ideal it is. Flexible hours allow workers to have time for their social life. It offers them time to solve their own problems, such as family and children matters. It also allows them to relax and enjoy life.

Thirdly, income is also very important when we talk about whether a job is ideal or not. Many people think of giving up their jobs because (C) they are paid too little. But this is not always true. Some people love their jobs and are happy to do the work, even though they get very little money.
