The discussion on “textbooks vs. computers” has been going on for years. How much technology is enough in the classroom? Should textbooks be replaced (取代) by computers?
①tools, powerful, are, without, computers, doubt (.) Computer-based lesson plans are updated (更新的) in real time. New information can be added as soon as changes take place. Students can find the latest information for the subjects they are studying.
With computers, students can learn how to use them for the rest of their lives. Today computers are used in almost all areas. Students can prepare themselves better for the future if they have computers.
However, although there are these advantages, I think textbooks must stay.
With textbooks, it is easier for students to take notes. ②Scientists have found that take notes by hand helps students learn more.
Textbooks are also less expensive than computers. ③Most families can afford textbooks, but not all of them can afford a computer. Every student should be allowed to learn what he needs to learn. It’s wrong to rob a student of his right (权利) to learn just because he can’t afford the material.
Computers are playing an important role in education. They allow students to learn more. However, I don’t think they can replace textbooks. If students want to learn well, they must use textbooks. Do you agree with me?

The reason why people like “Survival Holidays” is that they think it helps children be close to nature. Many children in big cities spend all time watching TV and playing computer games. “Survival Holidays” can change them a lot.
Is “Survival Holidays” a wonderful idea? Maybe it is. Children need more free time to play. They need to be left on their own without adults disturbing(打扰)them. Parents care too much about their children. They like to see the children being busy with activities that are controlled(支配)by adults, but children don’t know what to do when they are in danger. Even something like crossing a small river seems to be a hard challenge(挑战). Children are not comfortable with danger. Even small danger like getting their feet wet or falling down seems very terrible to them.
Many people think the survival activities are good for children. Even years later, they will still remember what they have learned. Some have learned to stay calm in different times. Some have learned how to keep safe. Others have learned how to work in a team. All these skills will help them a lot in their lives.

58% Say Yes
I am for the motion (提议). “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” A child may not have good handwriting, but he or she could still be very smart. For example, many great scientists’ handwriting is horrible, but they have risen to the top of their fields (领域). Plus, some doctors have bad handwriting, but we don’t care so much about it. By Miniball
In the past, you would write a letter and send it. That was like 50 years ago. Now, we have emails. Everything will be automated (自动化) soon. So is there even a point to having a debate (辩论) on handwriting? NOPE, it really won’t matter at all! By LittleCherry.
42% Say No
Handwriting should decide students’ grades because if your handwriting is bad, the teacher may not understand what you have written. So, I strongly disagree with this motion. Handwriting doesn’t have to be very beautiful, but it shows a student’s attitude (态度) towards his or her studies. By blue000

All of that changed, however, during my last summer of high school. As a 17-year-old girl, I flew across the country by myself for the first time! I headed for Quebec to live in the province with a French-speaking host family, who didn’t speak any English. And I would learn French at a local school.
On the first day of school, the local school gave us students a test to determine (测定) our language level. We were required to speak only French all summer.
I made every effort to communicate in a second language by making new friends, seeing movies and even ordering food from restaurants in French. Though I couldn’t understand most of it at the very beginning, the whole experience was exciting and refreshing.
On weekends, my classmates and I took trips to different places around the province. On one trip, we went whale watching on the St. Lawrence River. Even though it was raining, we could see huge whales swimming around our boat. The most unforgettable (令人难忘的) part of our trip was a visit to historic Quebec City. I walked along the stone streets, took pictures of the European-style (欧式的) buildings, and learned some stories there.
Finally my efforts paid off! At the end of the summer, I was able to communicate pretty well. I couldn’t wait to go back to school and talk with my French teacher. Being fully lost in a French-speaking environment was a valuable learning experience. And it could be the main reason for my improvement in French.
