Do you know Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng? Fei Junlong was born in 1965. He is a Chinese astronaut selected as a member of the Shenzhou program. He was born in Jiangsu and joined the People’s Liberation Army Air Force(中国人民解放军空军)in 1982 at the age of 17. And since then he has only returned home six times. As a fighter pilot (战机飞行员), he was selected to be an astronaut in 1998. He married Wang Jie in 1991 and has one son.

Nie Haisheng was born in September 1964. He is also a Chinese astronaut selected for the Shenzhou program. He is from Hubei. After graduating from high school he joined the People’s Liberation Army Air Force, and became a fighter pilot. In 1998 he was selected for the astronaut program.

He was one of the three astronauts who were in the final group to train for the Shenzhou V flight. Yang Liwei was also picked out for the flight, with Zhai Zhigang.

On September 23, 2005, it was reported that Zhai and Nie would be one of the three pairs of astronauts who would be in the final training for Shenzhou VI. But in the end, Fei and Nie were chosen, and Zhai missed his chance to space again.

Nie Haisheng got married to Nie Jielin and has an 11-year-old daughter.

Last Sunday evening, my parents went out for a walk with my sister. But I studied alone at home because I would have an English test. All of a sudden, I saw bright light in my neighbor’s kitchen. I thought he was cooking, so I went on studying.

A study says the origin (起源) of human is in Botswana. Researchers said they used DNA to find out where modern humans came from. They believe all our roots (根) are in an area of northern Botswana. Humans were there 200,000 years ago. They lived there for at least 70,000 years and then migrated (迁徙) around the African continent. They then started moving to Europe and Asia. Researcher Professor Vanessa Hays, from the University of Sydney, said, “We’ve known for a long time that modern humans originated in Africa about 200,000 years ago.”

The researchers made sure of an area called Okavango as where we came from. There used to be a big lake but it is now a salt flat (盐碱地). People had water, hunting and farmland. Scientists studied DNA from 200 people who live near the area today. They are from the Khoisan people, who live in modern-day South Africa and Namibia. They had a lot of DNA called L0. Professor Hayes explained why L0 is important. She said, “Whenever a Dew migration (迁徙) happens, our L0 records that migration event as a time-stamp. Everyone walking around today comes from this region.”

We all mess up (把事情搞砸). We’re humans and it’s not always easy to get along with others all the time. Sometimes we hurt people’s feelings, so we apologize (道歉).

Apologies are one of the tools we use to build good relationships. When you say “I’m sorry”, it’s because you probably feel bad that something you did or said hurt another person. Saying you are sorry is more than just words. You’re also saying that you care about his or her feelings. After apologizing, you might feel a little better. The other person probably will, too.

When we find ourselves in the following situations, an apology can probably make a big difference.

If you hurt or teased (嘲弄) someone, even you didn’t mean it.

If you lost or broke something that belonged to someone else.

If you did something that you knew was wrong-like telling a lie or breaking a rule on purpose.

If you didn’t do something you should do-like keeping a promise.

When someone apologizes to you, you may welcome it and be ready to forgive (原谅) and move on. Or you might not feel like being friendly right away. You don’t have to be friends just because someone apologizes. It’s polite to accept and acknowledge (承认) the apology, but anything more is up to you!
