The hot spring at the foot of the mountain is something you _______ try after the climb. It will _______ help you get refreshed! The amazing thing about the spring is that the colder the temperature gets, the _______ the spring! It is strange, _______ it? But that’s how nature is — always leaving us _______.

What comes next is the endless series of steps. You can’t help wondering how hard it _______ for the people then to put all those rocks into place. Though it is the only unnatural thing on your way up ________ mountain, still it highlights the whole adventure ________ offers a place where you can sit down to rest your ________ legs.

As the song ________, this long and winding road “will never disappear”, and it will always stick in the visitor’s memory. It sure does in ________. ________ you’re in China, Mount Huangshan is a must-to-visit!

It started 30 years ago with a squirrel. A few months after I had moved into a downtown _________, my next-door neighbor, Nicole Figaro, knocked, asking for help with a squirrel that had gotten into her flat.

I frightened the unexpected _________ away and made a new friend. Soon Nicole was inviting me over for dinner or _________ home-made food at my door. When I went to my beach house, Nicole helped _________ my mail and water my plants. And when she traveled as a flight attendant, I did the same for her. Wherever she went, she’d _________ to bring me wonderful gifts, but her smile has been the greatest of all.

In 1997, I had a lovely child and it was Nicole who took care of me and him. Years later, I returned the favour. I helped out when her husband was sick, _________ her and giving her support. More and more, we drew inspiration from each other.

_________, the pandemic hit. My husband was out of work and my son couldn’t be back to Britain because of the virus. I was _________ about them. Nicole helped my family to prepare for the pandemic and shared necessities with me. Without her, I couldn’t go through _________ times.

A __________ might separate our flats and masks can separate the viruses, but nothing is able to separate our hearts.

People with an impulsive personality refer to those who tend to do things without considering the possible dangers or problems first. According to a new study by researchers at the University of Georgia, such people may be more likely to have food addiction. The study found that people exhibiting impulsive behavior weren’t necessarily overweight, but impulsiveness was related to a direct relationship with food, and therefore, less healthy weight.

Food addiction has been compared to addictive drug use. Studies have linked the dopamine（多巴胺）release that occurs after tasting delicious food to the dopamine release that happens when people consume other addictive substances.

Impulsive behavior involves several personality traits（特点）. Two of these traits, known as negative urgency and lack of perseverance, were particularly associated with food addiction and high BMI（身体质量指数）during the study.

Negative urgency is characterized by the tendency to behave impulsively when experiencing negative emotions. Some people might drink alcohol or take drugs. For others, it could mean eating to feel better. Lack of perseverance is when a person has a hard time finishing hard or boring tasks. People with a lack of perseverance might have difficulty attempting to change addictive eating behavior, which could also cause obesity.

“Impulsiveness might be one reason why some people eat in an addictive way despite motivation to lose weight,” said Dr. Ashley Gearhardt, a clinical psychologist. He was involved in developing the Yale Food Addiction Scale in aid of those people. “We are theorizing that if food addiction is really a thing, then our measure, the Yale Food Addiction Scale, should be related to helping control impulsive action,” said Gearhardt.

Clinical psychologist Dr. James MacKillop, whose lab was conducting the study, believes that therapies used to treat addictive drug behaviour could help people who suffer from addictive eating habits.

“Most of the program for weight loss at this point focus on the most obvious things, which are clearly diet and exercise,” MacKillop said. “It seems that managing strong desires to eat would naturally fit in with the skills a person would need to eat healthily.”

The end of our 2021—2022 school year is just over a few days away. This year seems to have gone by very quickly, while parts of the year seemed to pass very slowly. Although we have faced many difficulties, thank you for walking hand-in-hand with us to meet every challenge with confidence.

Some days were spent staying at home and surfing the Internet due to COVID-19. Your parents have worked tirelessly, and your teachers have also made great strides and efforts as a team. Because of the close cooperation between home and school, you, our MD students are still learning happily and effectively. You have now come to realize that not everything in life is certain, and understand the need to adapt to constant changes. While finding a way to solve difficulties, you have developed your resilience and strength of character through experience. I believe that after these years of uncertainty and struggle, you will become stronger and know not to take anything for granted. Everyone has built a more optimistic and positive attitude to confront the challenges of life. Greater the gains than that lost!

The most important aspect of our school curriculum is not information about the subject content, but the cultivation of attitude and character. As long as the spirit of inquiry, enthusiasm for learning, and the ability to think flexibly are maintained, every learning challenge can be more easily overcome. This is our shared belief and the key to success in learning!

The past 3 years have witnessed the growth of you, with a balanced emphasis on moral and academic development. We, MD teachers, look forward to seeing everyone will gain your success in the High School Entrance Exam, and in the future, you all will contribute to building China our motherland great again. After these 3 years of learning, studying and growing together happily, long into the future may these precious memories continue!
