I often hear some students say English is difficult, and it gives them a headache. But English is very easy for me. I’m good at it. I’m very glad to tell you something about how I study English.

First, I think an interest in English is very important. When I learned English first, it was fresh for me. I was interested in it, so I worked hard at it. Soon we had an English exam and I got a very good mark. How happy I was! After that, I learned English harder and harder. Our English teacher often teaches us English songs, and the songs sound nice. I often think how interesting English is!

Second, I think English is a foreign language. I should learn it well in the following ways: Listen to the teacher carefully, speak bravely, read aloud and have a good vocabulary. Then practice again and again, never be tired. And I also have a good habit: Asking whenever (不论何时) I have a question. I must make it clear by asking our English teacher. How happy I am when I understand!

Besides this, I often read English stories, jokes and easy novels. They help me understand a lot of things. So to do more reading is an important way to learn English well. And I also write English diaries. English has become a close friend of mine.

Each Friday, my son’s kindergarten (幼儿园) class has “a prize day”. All the children who do well in the week can get a prize. The children have behavior (行为) cards. The cards start out green every morning, but are changed from green to yellow, orange and finally to red if they do something wrong. Most of the children never change their cards from green.

On many Fridays, a boy named Tommy often walks out with an unsmiling face because he has had a bad day or two that week. Tommy is a naughty (淘气的) boy and he often causes trouble. Other children would tell their parents, “Tommy got angry”, “Tommy didn’t listen to the teacher” or “Tommy got trouble today.” But recently, things have become much better for Tommy. My son reports happily each day , “ALL GREEN today”

Last night, after I kissed him goodnight, he said he was very excited because tomorrow was a prize day. “And I hope, hope, hope that Tommy stays on green”. My heart was filled with pride. I told my son how kind it was of him to think of Tommy rather than (而不是) paying attention to his own prize.

I take pride in both my son and Tommy and I hope one day they will both understand what the real prize was!

A discussion about whether students should be allowed to use mobile phones at school is held in an English class. There are some different opinions among the students and the teacher.

Student A: We are preparing for adults’ life. So we should be allowed to use the tools that we will use in our adult life. When we go to work, the need to use mobile phones will be very strong. Not preparing us for that world is thoughtless（欠考虑的）.

Student B: I think that mobile phones should not be allowed. It’s really hard for me to concentrate（集中注意力）during class since I always receive text messages. Don’t get me wrong. I love my mobile phone. Students can use mobile phones, but just not during school. They go to school to be educated, not to spend time on WeChat or Weiho.

Teacher: Students should be allowed to bring their own mobile phones, while they also have to pay attention to their studies. Being allowed to bring their own mobile phones will show respect（尊重）to them, and in return, they’ll give back the respect to the teacher, which also helps to improve their studies. Only those who play with mobile phones all the time should be punished by the teacher.

The label (标签), Made in China, is one that is becoming increasingly common in shopping centers all over the world.

In the United States, Wal-mart is the country’s largest business to sell goods (商品). Shoppers at Wal-mart can choose the things they want among thousands of kinds products that are mostly produced in China. The Chinese imports (进口) have provide many goods in other countries. And people begin to buy more and more products made in China. Chinese-made goods are quite popular. Chinese brand names are also becoming more well-known outside China.

When Chinese Americans visit family and friends in their homeland, gifts from the US are a must. But TVs and fashionable clothes aren’t rare (稀少的) any more, and anything “Made in China” shouldn’t be considered in any situation.

“When I decided to visit my family members in China, I will have a big headache. What should I buy for them? They may not all speak English, but everyone in China knows those three words,” a Chinese American said. When they see the label ‘Made in China’, they will think, “Why do you send me this?”

The word was surprised with the development of China. As a result, the other countries are beginning to try to reduce Chinese goods with high taxes (税) and import restrictions (限制). However, China is still changing the world in more and more ways.

Away from It All is a very popular TV series (连续剧) in England, and it has surprised everyone by becoming a huge success. The series is about the relaxing lifestyles of people who live in the country. None of the action can be seen on TV today. There is also no stressful time, busy offices or crowded cities. It tells simple stories about people’s kindness in the English countryside.

The directors of the TV series say that its success is a sign of teenagers suffering(遭受) from stress. They say that watching Away from It All helps teenagers forget about the pressure of exams and homework, and the troubles that fill the world today. They also say that it’s a good sign of today’s young people turning to happier TV series as it shows they would like a happier and healthier world.

Although the series’ success might have a good side, many teachers and parents are worried. They say that some of their students and children are becoming couch potatoes all day and are using Away from It All an excuse for not completing their homework. Some children have even refused to study for exams. They say that they can only achieve personal happiness by avoiding all stressful situations.

And what do the experts say? Paula Ray, an expert of education, says that TV has to do with children’s lifestyles. But she says that if a child reacts (回应) strongly, it’s probable that there are other reasons for his change in behavior. She says that there is nothing wrong with watching Away from It All, but she suggests that parents should make sure that their children know TV is not the same as the real life.
