We’re sitting too much and it’s dangerous. Most Americans spend more than seven hours sitting every day, and the more you sit, the weaker your body will be.
Fortunately, there are simple changes you can make during the day — anywhere, even at the workplace — to improve your health.
Park a few blocks away from the office each morning and walk to work.
This allows you to start off your mornings actively and be ready to take on the work. If you take the bus, get off one stop earlier to take some light exercise before 8 a.m.
Stand up and move around the office once every 60 — 90 minutes.
When you’re busy with work, it’s easy to forget the time. Set the alarm to remind(提醒) you to stand up and take a walk around the office. You can use this time to fill up your water bottle or go to the bathroom.
Ask questions and discuss questions face to face.
Go to your co-worker’s office to discuss questions face to face, rather than send an e-mail every time you have a question. This gives you a good excuse to move.
Use your lunch break to move around outside.
So many Americans today work during their lunch break. When possible, take advantage of(利用) this time to walk outside and enjoy the nice weather. Fresh air can make you keep a clear mind.
26. The underlined word “Fortunately” in Paragraph 2 means __________.A.unluckily | B.luckily | C.surprisingly | D.possibly |

A.Play games with our co-workers. | B.Enjoy the nice weather. |

Jack was a carpenter(木匠). He was living in a village. His mother died a long time ago. His aged father, Ken, lived with him. Ken could not even walk well. He was so weak. It was because Jack did not give him enough food. He only gave his father a small bowl made from earth. Even a little rice in the bowl appeared to be much.
Jack had a son. His name is Mike. He was a very good boy. He loved his grandfather. He had great respect for the old man. He did not like his father’s attitude to his grandfather.
One day Ken was eating his food out of the earthen(土制的) bowl. The bowl fell down and broke into pieces. The food also fell on the floor. Jack saw the broken bowl. He was very angry with his father. The old man felt bad about what happened. He was sorry for his mistake.
Mike saw this. He did not like what his father did, but he was afraid to speak against his father. The next day, Mike took some of his father’s tools and a piece of wood. He worked with the tools to make a wooden bowl. His father saw him working.
“What are you making, Mike?” he asked.
“I am making a wooden bowl!” replied Mike. “I am making it for you, father. When you grow old, like my grandfather, you will need a bowl for food. A bowl made from earth may break very easily. So I want to give you a wooden bowl.”
After hearing this, Jack felt sorry and regretted having treated his father badly.

Did you ever look at your parents and wish they were healthier? You’re not the only one. We did a survey (调查) of kids and 46% of them said they worry about their parents’ health. And 69% of the kids would like their parents to make changes to be healthier. Maybe your mum and dad would be surprised to learn that you care about them.
Here are some tips on talking to your parents about their health habits:
Make a list. Try to remember what got you to think about this topic. Is there an unhealthy thing you’d like to see them stop doing, or do less often? Is there a healthy habit like exercising or eating fruit and vegetables that you’d like to see them do more often? Get your list together. And don’t forget to add relaxing more and getting more sleep—two great, healthy ideas for parents and kids!
Practise how to say it. Changing can be difficult. And it’s not always easy to hear that someone you love thinks you need to do it. So you’ll want to bring up this topic in just the right way. If your parents wanted you to make a change, how would you like them to ask? A gentle, caring way often works best. You might tell your mum or dad: I want you to be healthy and strong so that we can do a lot of fun things together. Do you think we could eat more healthy foods, exercise more, slow down and relax for a couple of hours a week?
Find the right time to bring it up. Pick a moment when everyone’s relaxed and there’s time to talk.
Make a decision together. Once you bring up the subject, remember that both you and your parents should agree on which steps to take next. It helps to pick a single goal. It can be overwhelming if you try to make too many changes all at once. If your goal is too general, you don’t have specific (明确的) steps in mind.
Cheer them on! Encourage your parents as the family start making changes. Tell them you’re proud of them. An extra hug or a home-made card of encouragement can give them what they need to keep going down the healthy road. What a great way to show how much you care!
