Team sports allow for healthy competition. You can’t always win, but you can certainly try your best to win! When you don’t quite make it, make sure you show good sportsmanship! Don’t be rude to other players or teams when you win, and don’t pout if you lose. Just practice and try again. There are always more chances. Team sports are also a lot more fun than doing something alone. You can make a lot of friends and learn a lot of things about games and other people.

There are a lot of different sports, something for everyone! Do you like action sports? Try Karate, football, boxing, hockey, Taekwondo, rugby, or other sports like that. Do you like having to hit and catch a ball? Try baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, or similar sports. Do you like sports where accuracy (精准) counts? Try bowling, ping pong, billiards, pool, archery, and target shooting. How about sports that take balance and rhythm? Try competitive dancing, gymnastics, cheerleading, and that kind of sports. Don’t forget those sports where you have to swim! Try water polo, diving, swimming, and other fun water games! There are games that take speed, too! Try snowboarding, running, skiing, sailing, racing, and other fast sports!

Try a whole lot of sports. Each one is fun in a different way. Enjoy a healthy lifestyle and have fun at the same time!

The world is full of screens. They are on TVs, computers and smartphones. Screens are at school, at home, and just about everywhere in between. The time people spend every day looking at screens is known as “screen time.” Most families have rules about how much time children can spend with screens. Why do they have rules? Are there good reasons to limit screen time?

In many ways, screens are helpful for communication and connecting with other people. Social media (社交媒体) and video calls allow people to be always in touch with one another. ________ By sharing and commenting on videos, photos, games or music, people can meet others who have similar interests.

However, some adults are worried that young people spend too much time on screens and not enough time meeting people in real life. As a result, they may not properly understand feelings or develop strong relationships.

Many kinds of screen time may be good for students. Students may use screen time to develop their skills in creating music or videos. They may even learn skills such as coding (编程) computer programs. When students use their screen time to do research online, they may meet people who are different from them or ideas they have never thought about before.

However, some researchers think that screens change how the brain processes information. Some have linked (连接) screen time to lower test scores or less attention time.

In the future, scientists will continue studying the effects of screen time. Parents will likely continue to make rules limiting screen time. Plenty of good things can come from all this screen time, but it’s a good idea for people to pay attention to how much time in a day they spend looking at a screen. They should know how screen time influences their health, relationships, and learning.

Comics

Do you like to read comic (漫画) books? Even if you have never read an actual comic book, you probably know some characters from comic books. Do you know Captain America? How about Spiderman? Do you recognize Thor and Loki? Have you ever watched Superman?     53    

A comic book is a book made up of a series of pictures. The art and words are called “comic”, but that doesn’t always mean “funny”.     54    

Rodolphe Topffer was a teacher, but he also developed several comic strips (连载漫画) which were published in 1827 in different places. These were all drawn carefully by hand.     55     Topffer wrote in horizontal (水平的) blocks in his own handwriting. This became the standard.

    56     Here, artists loved the idea and developed the technique (技巧) of using travel in their comics, which were always popular. The French also took part in strip comics, while there were still others who stuck to single comics that were going down the page in the book — instead of horizontal.

Comics started to become popular in the 20th century.     57     Comic strip artists have often used art to “make fun” of very serious subjects. Even when they were not “making fun”, they used the comics and the characters to deal with serious topics.

Comic books continue to be popular, but over time, many of their characters have also been pictured in television shows and in movies.
