Paris is a very beautiful city but I will not call it the most romantic (最浪漫的) city at all! It is difficult to find a hotel! That is quite funny. Some policemen help us and then we find a hotel! The hotel is on the sixth floor and it is tiring to climb up the stairs (楼梯)! The room is very simple but it has a big bathroom. We go out for a walk to visit the city. The Louvre Museum is our favourite one. There are some wonderful places of art there. The Eiffel Tower looks so cool from a far place, but when we get close to it, it doesn’t look so good. We also don’t feel good about the expensive food. Most of the time, we enjoy Paris, but the weather is not always good. It often rains. We find it a little difficult to communicate (交流) because not many people can speak English and we can’t speak French(法语). But I’m still glad that this is the beginning of our travel.

Climbing the highest mountains in the world is not an easy job. One has to fight bad weather, illness and fear (恐惧). But the American 13-year-old boy Jordan Romero is not afraid. He will climb the world’s highest (最高的) mountain, Mount Qomolangma (珠穆朗玛峰). He set out (出发) on April 11. His parents and two guides, will climb with him. He plans to take two months for his climb. “I’m ready. But if I don’t succeed (成功), I’ll try next time.” he said.

Jordan will also do his maths homework and some book reports in the two months. He will write diaries about this climb. “My father told me that I can do this only if (只有……才) I can keep up my school work,” he said.

Jordan has already climbed the highest mountains of six other continents (大洲). Three years ago, he climbed the highest mountain in Africa. If he succeeds this time, he will become the youngest person to the top of the world’s highest mountain.

Lives of children are different around the world. Children in rich countries like Germany live different from children in poor countries like Sierra Leone (塞拉利昂) in Africa.

For breakfast, German children often have bread, eggs, meat and milk. And they eat much more for lunch and dinner.

German children start their school at a young age. They study English as their second language. Many children also study a third language such as French.

In Germany, riding bikes and swimming are popular with children. Families also like to go for walks in the forest in warm seasons. In winter, they often go skiing or take a holiday in a country with warm weather.

As for the poor children in Sierra Leone, they usually have rice. They don’t always have meat or eggs. Children also have to wake up at about 3 o’clock in the morning to get water for their families.

Many children in Sierra Leone, especially (尤其是) the girls, do not go to school. Most families are so poor that only the boys get to attend school. After school, the boys also have to help their parents with housework. Most girls do not go to school because their families need them at home. They must cook and do other housework.

Many people like travelling to different places in holidays. Travelling is exciting, but it’s not if you get sick. Of course you don’t want to spend your holiday sick in bed.     39     There are three things you should do when you travel: rest, sleep and eat well.

When you travel, there are so many places to visit: museums, shops, parks and palaces.     40     This can make you feel tired. Your feet may be in pain. You may have a headache (头疼) after a few hours.     41    

Sleep is also important. If you want to stay healthy, you need to get much sleep.     42     You may want to travel at night. Then you should get some sleep in the day.

    43     When you are in a new country, you may want to try new food. But you cannot eat too much. Lots of rich (油腻的) food is not good for you.
