Watching short videos（视频） is becoming more and more popular among students, ______ they are easy to watch and kind of interesting. However, there are some ______ when they watch the videos.

Some short videos are not for the young. They are just ______ making people laugh and sometimes not good for young people. Another problem is that kids are spending too much time watching the videos. The ______ time they spend watching such videos, the less time they will have for their studies and home lives. What will ______ to these children in the future if they don’t study hard? Can they find a good job? It is said that if children watch short videos for an hour or two each day, slowly they would not ______ their schoolwork. At the same time, this can be bad for ______ eyes.

So I ______ young people can stop spending too much time on short videos and take their school and home lives ______. They can spend some time doing sports to keep ______ or listening to music to relax after finishing schoolwork.

Judy often writes for her school’s newspaper. Now she wants to write something about friends. Here are her interviews (采访) with four students.

Liu Tao, a middle-aged farmer from Yangshuo, Guangxi, loves English very much. In the 1980s, a lot of people from other countries came to visit Yangshuo. When they met Chinese people, they would say hello. From then on, Liu dreamed of being an English tour guide.

Liu Tao studied hard and at last he could go to his dream school, but his family was so poor that he had to give up at last. He then got home to do farm work, but Liu never stopped learning English. Borrowing a textbook from a friend, Liu started homeschooling.“Practice makes perfect,” Liu says. “Only when I read one sentence many times, can I keep it in mind.”

In 1998, Liu Tao got good grades in an English test and became one of the first farmer English tour guides in Yangshuo. In 2020, Liu Tao went back home to be a farmer again because of COVID-19. But he never gave up his dream. He made many short videos. In the videos, he introduces (介绍) his hometown in both Chinese and English. Sometimes, he even sings in English. “ ▲ ” he often says in the end. Though his English is not very good, people love him and call him “Bro Shank You”.
