Four years ago, Brad created a free food store in Nashville, Tennessee. His goal was to serve families in need with necessary food.

Brad had the idea after going back from California, where he found the same store. That store provided many people with food and nearly everyone had a smile on their face. He also wanted to do good things for others. As a result, in early 2020, his store opened. Its opening effectively relieved (缓解) the problem of food scarcity (紧缺) . Besides, the store also sent the food to homes for older people.

Along with the food store, this store together offered other services with the help of Belmont University. They include financial education and music education.

This year, the store provided free toy before the coming of the Christmas. The poor families could choose new toys, video games and other gifts for free. Children can play and drink a hot chocolate while their parents pick out gifts for them. Brad said, “For some families, just going through the holiday without giving their children some gifts they want will make parents feel really sad. ”

He is not alone. For this year’s toy store event. The store received about 2, 000 donated (捐赠的) toys and raised $20, 000. “People come on hard times and we want this to be a safe, welcoming place for everybody, whether you’re volunteering or whether you’re needing the services,” Brad said.

Now, a new AI tool (工具) is used in the making of new movies.

This new AI tool is called “Deepfakes”. It can take out the actor’s picture/photo from an old movie and use it to create a “Digital image (数字形象)” for a new movie. For example, “Deepfakes” can make it seem as if the person is saying words. But in fact, he never said. In Hollywood, the tool has been used to make actors look younger and to solve other problems.

For Duncan, he thinks actors have their qualities (特征), such as appearance and voice. These qualities make them different from the others. If the moviemakers (制片人) always use “Deepfakes”, these actors will lose their jobs. Besides, it is unfair to use actors’ images without paying money and the admission of the author. While many actors are worried about AI, others can accept it. Harrison Ford doesn’t mind about moviemakers using AI. Ford first played Indiana Jones in the 1980s. Now he is 80 years old. By using “Deepfakes”, Ford will appear in the movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny again.

“Though I think ‘Deepfakes’ is a good tool, moviemakers must do it with more things, such as the actors’ personalities instead of just copying old movies. Or everything made in the future is going to be the copy of the old works”, said Duncan.
