As teenagers, you have many dreams. The dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small. You may just want to become one of the ten best students in your class.
Once you find a dream, what do you do with it? Do you try to make your dream real? Follow Your Heart by an Australian writer Andrew Matthews tells us that making our dreams real is life’s biggest challenge. “You may think you’re not very good at some school subjects, or that it is impossible for you to become a writer. These kinds of thoughts stop you from achieving your dream,” the book says.
In fact, everyone can achieve his dream. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. Don’t let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step because a big dream is formed by, in fact, many small dreams. You must also never give up your dream.
There will be difficulties on the road to your dreams. But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of watching TV will lead to better exam results. While saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book.
As you get closer to your dream, it may change a little. This is good as you have the chance to learn more skills and find new interests.

B.You must remember what your dream is. |
C.Your dream will never help you learn more skills. |

① The chrysanthemum which is known as one of the “Four Gentlemen in Plants” (四君子) is a very popular flower in China. At the same time, it has many meanings in Chinese culture.

From then on, the chrysanthemum has become the symbol of the hermit.

Today I’d like to tell the story of a 10-year-old boy. Although he had lost his left arm because of a car accident, he decided to study judo(柔道).
The boy learned from an old Japanese judo master. He was doing well, so he couldn`t understand why, after three months of training, the master only taught him one move. “Master,” the boy finally asked, “why don`t you teach me more moves?”
“This is the only move you know, but it is the most useful move for you.” the master replied. The boy still felt confused, but he believed in his teacher, so he kept training.
Several months later, the master took the boy to his first competition. To his surprise, he easily won his first two matches. The third match was more difficult, but he used his move and reached the final.
This time, the boy’s competitor was stronger and more experienced. Everybody thought the boy would lose the match except the master. Finally, the boy beat his competitor with his move and won.
On their way home, the boy and the master reviewed the matches. The boy asked, “Master, how could I win the matches with only one move?” “You won for two reasons.” the master answered. “First, you’ve almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in judo. Second, the only defense(防御)against that move for your competitors is to catch your left arm.”

Electric cars may seem like a recent invention, but they’ve been around for years. In the early 1900s, there were more electric cars on the road than there were petrol(汽油)cars. At that time, petrol was expensive compared with other fuels(燃料). When petrol prices dropped and new technologies were developed, electric cars went out of fashion. Instead, petrol cars became more popular because they could travel longer distances without stopping.
During the 20th century, petrol cars got bigger, heavier and faster. They needed more fuel, and it caused more air pollution. For years, car makers didn’t worry about pollution. They didn’t worry about the amount of petrol cars’ use, either. But when people began to realize that there was not enough oil on the earth, they asked car makers to produce more efficient(高效能的)and less polluting cars.
One method of solving the problem was a “hybrid” car(混合动力车), one that ran partly on petrol and partly on electricity. Hybrid cars became popular in the 2000s when petrol prices went up and the prices of hybrid cars went down.
An all-electric car uses no petrol. The problem, however, is that car batteries(电池)need to be recharged(再充电). That makes electric cars not so useful for long journeys.
Many people are not pleased with it. The government and car makers are working together to develop safe, cheap and useful electric cars. When people have these cars in the future, a petrol station may be a thing of the past.
27. Electric cars went out of fashion because _________.A.petrol oil was more expensive | B.new technologies were developed |

A villager sell seeds in the market to make his living. He had ten bags with him, which he would carry to another village to buy seeds. Of the ten bags, one was broken. Although it was in poor condition, the villager would carry it with all the other bags to get the seeds from another village.
One day, the broken bag thought, “I am just a broken bag with many holes, why does my owner take me along to bring seeds?” It then asked the villager, “Why don’t you throw me away? You know I am useless. I drop all the seeds you put in me.”
The villager smiled, “I will tell you what good you have done to me and others.” Saying this, the villager took the broken bag outside and said, “Do you see all these trees? These trees are all along the way from this village to the next, from where I buy seeds. These trees have grown from the seeds you have been dropping along the way.”
The villager continued, “These trees give cool shade to tired people on hot sunny days. They also give oxygen (氧气) to humans and animals. Can’t you see you’ve done the world a great service?”
