Join the fun two-week Green Summer Camp! It’s for middle school kids who love nature and want to learn how to protect the environment. Do cool activities like planting trees, recycling, and making things out of reused materials.

Tree Planting: Get your hands dirty planting trees and learn about their important role in our ecosystem.

Recycling Workshops: Become a recycling expert and discover how to reduce waste in fun ways.

Art from Reused Materials: Let your creativity flow by creating art with items you can recycle.

Years ago, the only way to get news from around the world was through newspapers. They were printed on big sheets of paper and brought to homes early in the morning or sold in shops. People would enjoy their morning coffee while reading the paper.

But now, the way we read news is very different because of ________. These days, it’s more common to read news on digital (数码的，电子的) devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The change from paper to screens has happened for many reasons.

First, the internet lets us get news ________. Instead of waiting for the morning paper, digital news is always there and keeps getting updated all the time. This means we can know about new events as they happen.

Another big change is how easy it is to access digital news. You can read news ________ and anytime, like on a bus, in a line, or at home. This ease of access has made digital news very popular.

The Rise of Electric Vehicles

Electric cars, also called EVs, are getting more popular all over the world. People like them because they are good for the environment. These cars don’t use gasoline. Instead, they use electricity that comes from b    46    . You can fill them up at special places called charging stations, which are becoming more common in cities and along highways. This makes it easier for people to travel long distances w    47     worrying about running out of power.

The very first electric car was made way back in the 1830s, a long time before cars that use gasoline were invented. However, electric cars only started to become more popular in recent years. One of the best things about electric cars is that they don’t make bad gases that can hurt the air and the Earth. Moving to electric cars is great for keeping our planet clean. When we pick electric cars, we save money and help stop pollution. Electric cars are not just a cool new thing；they are part of a big change for a better world.

Saving the Well

Once upon a time, in a vast desert, there was a small village that depended on a single well for water. The well was not only a source of life for the villagers but also for the travelers who passed through the desert.

One year, a really bad drought hit the village. The plants died, animals moved away, and the well’s water level started to drop. The villagers grew worried, knowing that they needed the well to live. Among them was a young boy named Amir. He noticed that while everyone was worried, very few were taking action to save the precious water.

Amir decided to make a difference. He started by using less water for his daily needs and collected rainwater in pots. He also suggested planting drought-resistant (抗旱) plants around the well to keep the soil wet and reduce water evaporation (蒸发). At first, only a few villagers took him seriously, but as the well’s water even got lower, more started to listen.

Amir taught the villagers how to create small basins around the plants to catch more rainwater and how to cover the ground with stones and leaves to reduce evaporation. He also organized teams to clean up around the well and dig small channels to direct any rainwater into the well.

As the weeks passed, the villagers noticed a change. The water in the well didn’t go down as much, and the plants around it began to grow well. The efforts to save water paid off, and the village was able to make it through the drought.
