When I was a boy,I didn't have a smartphone. At that time, home computers weren't heard of, and our small television could only get one channel clearly. Yet, I was never _______.

I would ride my bike down the hills to feel the gentle wind on my face when _______ arrived. When summer came. Let us show our appreciation for everything our mothers have done for us． There's no substitute（代替者）for her in our life． Though sometimes she may be strict with us and she may not understand all of our ideas，she will always be there for me．

Your honor!   Let me say a few words for myself．   What they have told you is not true．   I was not trying to kill anyone，and it was hardly possible to try to kill three strong young men at the same time．   I didn't have anything to kill people that night and was quite alone．   I didn't know them and needn't hate them．   I was attacked by them，and I knocked one of them down，it's true，but I was made to do it，or I might be killed by them．   I did this not because I hated the white men as they said．   I just had to do so． While I was beaten in the dark street by the three men， a policeman came， caught me and then took me here．

I know why I was beaten．   I have just moved into a house next to these white men．   I have felt that I am not welcome and I have tried to be quiet．   I think，   as an American，I have the right to choose where to live．   If I'm guilty，it is because my colour is different from theirs and I can' t enjoy justice（公正）． Yet， I am not guilty．   This is all I want to say．   Thank you，your honor．

Who is the greatest teacher in Chinese history？ You can' t think of anyone else when you hear people read Confucius' 2，500﹣year﹣old words：

"All study but no thinking makes people puzzled． All thinking but no study makes people lazy．"

September 28th was Confucius' birthday．   He was born in the Kingdom of Lu，in today's Shandong Province．   He had a hard child．   His father died when he was only 3．   His mother brought him up，   As a child， he had to work to help his mother， but young Confucius didn't give up studying．   He visited many famous teachers and learned music， history， poetry and sports．

Later， he became a teacher and started the first public school in Chinese history．   At that time，only children from rich families could go to school if they wanted to learn． He had about 3，000students in his lifetime．

Chinese look upon Confucius as the greatest thinker and also the greatest teacher．   For more than 2 ， 500years，Confucius' ideas have been around in people's everyday lives．   Now they have gone far into Western countries and South Asia．   People can still hear them today．

Why are his ideas so popular？ Confucius' most important ideas are kindness and good manners．Confucius said young people should take care of the old． A kind person should care for others． Be strict wish yourself， but be kind to others． As a great teacher， Confucius said that all should go to school if they wanted to learn． People use his ideas to help themselves and society． Now， more than 100Internet websites are teaching people about Confucius and his ideas．

Farthing is moving indoors，where the sun never shines，where rain never falls and where the weather is always proper． The perfect crop field could be inside a windowless building with controlled light， temperature，wetness，air quality and nutrition．   It could be in a building in New York or in a desert in Sahara．

The world is already having trouble feeding itself．   Half the people on Earth live in cities，and nearly half of those are hungry or ill﹣fed．   Food prices are buffeted by，floods and the cost of energy required to plant， harvest and transport it．   And prices will only get more changeable．   Farmers in many parts of the world already are using water available to the last drop．   And the world is getting more crowded by mid﹣century，the world's population will grow front 6． 8 billion to 9 billion．

To feed so many people may require more farmland ， as a result ， forests and wilderness（荒地）are becoming fewer and fewer．

Gertjan Meeuws has taken the idea of a greenhouse a step further，   growing vegetables and houseplants in enclosed（封闭的）environments． In their research station ， water flows into the fields when needed，and the temperature is kept the same．   Lights go on and off，   creating similar day and night，but according to the needs of the plants．

A building of 100 square meters and 14 layers（层）of plants could provide a daily diet of 200 grams of fresh fruit and vegetables to the entire population of Den Bosch， about 140，000 people． Their idea isn' t to grow foods that require much space，like corn or potatoes．   Here sunlight is not only unnecessary but can be harmful．   Plants need only specific（特定地）light to grow．   Their growth speed is three times faster than under greenhouse conditions．   They use about 90 percent less water than outdoor agriculture．   And city farming means producing food near the citizens， and there's no need to transport it long distances．

These days I have been reading an interesting book called Robinson Crusoe．   Do you know about it？ It was written by Daniel Defoe．   Have you heard of him？ He was a famous English writer， who was born in London in 1660and died in 1731．

Robinson Crusoe is one of the world's most popular adventure novels． It tells a story about an English sailor， whose name is Robinson Crusoe． He is caught in a heavy storm at sea on his way to Africa． After floating for some time，he arrives on an island，where there are no people． In order to survive，Robinson searches for food，builds a but，makes tools and raises animals with his strong minds as well as his wisdom． He comes back to the human society after living on the island for about 28years．

The novel shows us the experiences of a brave man and it also introduces us the spirit of never giving up． It is so popular that it has been translated into many foreign languages and is loved by readers from all over the world．

Recently our class has conducted a survey about "The growth of the new generation"． People have different opinions it．
