About ten years ago, when I was a student in college, I was working in the shop at my college's Museum of Natural History. One day, I saw an elderly couple come in with a little girl in a wheelchair.

As I looked at his girl, I saw that she was seated on her chair. I realized she had no arms or legs, just a head, neck and body. She was wearing a little white dress with red dots（圆点）. As the couple wheeled her up to me, I was looking down at the cash register（收银处）. I turned my head toward the girl and gave her a wink（眨眼）. As I took the money from her grandparents, the girl gave me the biggest smile I have ever seen. All of a sudden, her disability disappeared. All I saw was this beautiful girl, whose smile gave me a new sense of life. She took me from being a poor, unhappy college student and brought me into her world of smiles, love and warmth.

That was 10 years ago. I'm a successful businessman now. Whenever I am down and thinking about the troubles of the world, think about that little girl and the life lesson she taught me.

At present, more and more people are crazy about traveling. Why do people travel? "To see more of the world," many people would say. But traveling abroad now means much more than that for the growing number of Chinese tourists. Of course it offers us good opportunities to meet people from other countries, learn about their culture and customs.

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization（UNWTO）more than 1 billion people traveled to another country in 2017. In 2017, Chinese people who traveled abroad increased by 30 present more than in 2016. The prosperity（繁荣）of the tourism industry can also bring both our country and foreign countries great economic benefits（经济利益）.Chinese people usually join large tourist groups and visit several countries in one trip.

Chinese people don't just travel for sightseeing. The China International Travel Service Company said that all their tour trips sold out a month before Christmas Day. Stores offered discount（打折）during that time, so shopping in Europe and the United States is popular among Chinese travelers.

In December, China is going through a very cold winter. So many people like to go to some countries in Southeast Asia because the weather there is quite pleasant.

The improvement of living standards means more Chinese can travel abroad. But many of them don't have a sense of public manners. A report by Living Social website in March 2017 even listed Chinese as the world's second worst tourists.

If you want to change that bad name, remember to avoid the following: littering, spitting, snatching bus seats, line-jumping, taking off shoes in pubic, talking loudly and smoking in non-smoking areas. Besides, we should learn some manners of foreign countries.

The world’s largest amphibious（水陆两栖的） airplane, AG-600, carried out its first flight on December 24th, 2017 in Zhuhai, a city in Guangdong Province. It is a plane that can take off and land on both ground and water. AG-600 took off from Jinwan Airport at 9:39 am. The flight took about one hour before the airplane landed at the same airport.

AG-600 is one of three large airplanes made in China. The other two are Y-20 and C919. AG-600 can cover a maximum (最多的) flight distance of 4,500 kilometers and carry a maximum weight of 53.5 tons at a time. The development of it began in March 2014 and was completed in July 2016. In April, the first ground test was successful. In early December, the airplane received the government’s approval (批准) for the first flight.

The airplane will mainly be used for firefighting and search and rescue（援救、营救） at sea. It can also be developed to do research on the environment and resource at sea. According to Huang Lingcai, one of its main designers, the airplane can make round trips without refueling (补充燃料) from the southern island province of Hainan. It is able to save 50 people when doing a rescue mission（使命）at sea. To put out forest fires, it can collect 12 tons of water from a nearby lake or sea in 20 seconds and then use the water to put out fires in an area of around 4,000 square meters. It is said that the airplane will be of great importance to the country’s emergency rescue system and the building of strong sea power.

Next, the airplane will continue to make flight tests and will be put into use after it is proved to be safe and useful enough.
