In the days when an ice cream sundae(圣代) cost very little, a 10-year-old boy named Mark entered his favorite restaurant all by himself and sat at a table.
A waitress put a glass of water in front of him and waited for him to order.
"How much is an ice cream sundae?"
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.
The little boy put his hand into his pocket and slowly counted his coins.
"What if I just order a dish of ice cream?" he asked.
Some people were now waiting for a table and the waitress was angry. She wanted him to order quickly.
"Thirty-five cents," she said, losing her patience.
The little boy counted his coins again. "I'll just have the plain(普通的) ice cream then." he said.
The waitress brought him the ice cream, put the bill(账单) on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the bill and left.
The waitress came back to clean the table and nearly cried at what she saw.
There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, was 15 cents-her tip. (小费)
