Fighting coronavirus is an experience that will forever be remembered. Now that I've recovered, I'm sharing my story because I want people to take this situation seriously. To turn things around, we have to stay home. We have to fight this battle together — and we have to win.
I think it started on the night my boyfriend and I went to celebrate his sister-in-law's birthday. We didn't think anything of it at the time, of course. The news was just beginning to report the spread of COVID-19 in America. I was still living my life just as I always had — riding the train to work each day, working long hours, and going out with friends and family.
My boyfriend, Luis, began showing symptoms on Monday, but we thought it was a typical cold. Then it took me down. It began with a low fever. I felt really weak. At this point, coronavirus had begun to take over New York. On Tuesday, the headache started. It was so intense that I had to lie down. By the end of the week, everything hurt. Luis and I went to nearby urgent care. After being examined, I chose to be tested, but I didn't receive my results until a week later. The doctor sent me home with advice to take Tylenol (泰诺, 感冒药) but said there was nothing more he could do for me. On the way home, we bought whatever medicine we could find, for the store had run out of Tylenol.
That Saturday evening was the worst. I had a high fever and I couldn't sleep. I was sweating a lot, and my knees, hips, and back were in terrible pain. I lost my sense of taste and smell. Then I developed stomach pain.
As I lay there, I was terrified that there wouldn't be enough doctors, nurses, or beds to help me. The thought of being alone, and possibly dying alone, in the hospital, weighed heavily on my thoughts, and I feared the uncertainty.
My fever finally broke the following Wednesday. It was such a relief. Two days later, the health department called me with the news that I'd tested positive for COVID-19.
Looking back, I really wish that people had taken this virus more seriously earlier. I wish people understood how severe this is. I'm wearing a mask in public from now on. I'm not taking chances. This was really painful, and we got lucky.

If you do, you need to take control of (控制) your feelings and stop getting angry so easily. Getting angry with people can make you lose friends.
Gary Egeberg, an American high school teacher, has written My Feelings Are Just Like Wild Animals to help you control your feelings. It tells teens how to stay cool when bad things happen to them. The book says that getting angry only makes problems worse. It can never make them better. Getting angry is not a natured (本性的) way to act. It is just a bad habit, like smoking. The book says you can control your anger easily—all you have to do is to tell yourself not to be angry.
When a baby falls over, it only cries if people are watching it. Like a baby, you should only get angry if you are sure it is the right thing to do.
The book gives many tips to help you if you get angry easily. Here are the top three:
①Keep a record. Every time you get angry, write down why you are angry. Look at it later and you will see you get angry too easily.

My friends and I used to sit together and have lots of fun. Whenever we got a free period, we used to start shouting or play games. I took part in all competitions, such as poetry writing, story writing, painting and all activities on Teachers’ Day or somebody’s birthday and had much fun.
My English teacher was very tall. The moment she entered the class, we would all sit quietly and open the books. She would encourage me by giving me important assignments and also morning news to read during the assembly. She would come down and listen to my English debate, which made me participate in all debate competitions.
The same was true of my biology and science teacher. She was very nice and sweet. She would always give me extra information on the biology project. I could not go to the lab for practicals(lessons or exams in science, cooking, etc. in which you have to do or make something yourself rather than write or read about it), so she would bring down the lab and help me with the biology and science practicals and would give me excellent marks.
My friends made me monitor and the naughty boys listened to me. My friends used to help me with my notes when I was absent. My teachers always gave me important project work and I felt proud when they patted me on the back after I finished it quickly and correctly. I was never shouted at or scolded by any of my friends or teachers.
Today I often see the terrible punishments given to students on TVs. I feel very sad.

82-year-old Yang Benfen, known as a granny writer “by the stove”, published her third book in February. Yang started writing in her 60s and published her first book Qiuyuan at 80. She spent most of her time writing in the kitchen and became a bestselling author.
Being asked about what makes her keep writing, she explained, “I realized that if those stories were not written down, all traces (痕迹) of my mother would be completely wiped out from the world sooner or later like dust on a table blown away by wind,” she said. Thus, she started her writing journey while making meals for her family members.
She finished her first hand-written copy of book with more than 100,000 words in 2007. “It seems like a reunion (团聚) with many people who have left me in my memory.” Yang described her writing process.
Later, Yang’s daughter posted this copy of book online as a serial. Bad words and good words poured in. Those who disliked it said the story of a “nobody” is unworthy of being recorded, but some readers’ support encouraged the granny writer to hold out for her dream. Yet the online serialized (连载的) novel did not get the attention of any publishers until more than ten years later. “She writes in gentle and simple words but describes the characters’ struggles with their destiny (命运). I was shocked that it was written by a green hand,” said publisher Tu Zhigang. Her first work Qiyuan was published in June 2020 and proved a big success. More than 90,000 copies have been sold so far.
As for now, Granny Yang has no plans to stop. Her fourth book is on the way and she has learned how to use a computer. “I can write anytime, anywhere, and it is more convenient to improve my writing.” “In old age, I am like a train on a new journey. I’m looking at my favorite model animal now. It’s a small, black toy elephant. It’s made of wood. It’s standing in the bookcase in my room with some books and photos. I got the elephant while I was staying with my friend Lucy in the UK. We were walking through a market one day when she saw two model elephants. She said they were best friends like us. They weren’t expensive, so we bought both of them. I kept one elephant, and Lucy kept the other. People say that elephants never forget. 【推荐3】I’m confused (困惑的) these days. We are taught at home and at school that using violence (暴力) is the least civilized (文明的) way to solve problems. For example, last week I thought about hitting my friend for winning a beautiful shell while we were playing at the beach. But I talked with him instead and we came to an agreement. If two adults had a disagreement, and if they used violence towards each other in order to win, is it all right?
When two countries disagree, they often fight a war. Why is using violence not okay at home, at school, or in your country but okay between countries? Many people have been killed because of wars, not only soldiers but ordinary people, even small children and babies. And refugees (难民) exist, too.
A war is a great violence, like two people fighting over a shell, just much bigger. Adults say they are fighting wars in order to solve problems and make peace. But can you really "make peace" by killing so many people? I don't think bombs can reach people's hearts and change them. Bombs can't create love and caring, and that's what we need in the world. Why do adults use violence so quickly? Why can't they use their wisdom and talk it over?
Adults might say that things are not that easy. But they are the ones that teach us to be kind, not to hurt people, and not to kill. Why don't they act as what they say?

Blue, a 33-year-old doctor saw reports of people buying and storing toilet paper. He came up with a simple yet clever solution.
One Saturday morning, Blue took a piece of cardboard, wrote “Share Your Toilet Paper” on it in huge letters, and camped out on the street corner, “It just inspired me to remind people that if you have a lot of something, that probably means there are people who don’t have very much of it because you took it all,” Blue said, “So sharing it is probably a good thing to keep in mind.”
The response was immediate and positive, with motorists honking horns in support. Drivers stopped to drop off spare rolls of toilet paper, and, just as quickly, Blue handed them out.
“This guy said he just ran out and was going to a bunch of stores and couldn’t find any,”
Blue said as cars went by. “Somebody had given me some, so I gave it to him. He was excited. He was like, ‘Do you want me to pay you?’ I said, ‘No, man. Take it.’”
A moment later, a driver in a white pickup truck slowed down just enough to take out a roll to add to Blue’s collections.
“People are loving it,” Blue said. “They’re honking, smiling, laughing. It’s kind of a hard time right now. People want a sense of community.”
