Only a few days ago, the first-ever China Huafu Day was held to encourage young Chinese people to wear and take pride in hanfu, the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group (汉民族). The organizers said, “Traditional culture is the lifeblood of China. We hope young Chinese people can wear our traditional clothing during festivals to show China’s unusual culture to the world. This will also make them understand the culture better and feel proud of being a Chinese.” The event invited people to post their pictures in traditional clothes.By April 22nd, it had already got over 155 million page views, with thousands of people sharing their pictures.
Historically, hanfu has influenced many of the neighboring cultural clothing including the Japanese Kimono and Korean Hanbok. However, hanfu started tofadewhen Manchu people took control of China. Luckily, there has been a rise in popularity over recent years. According to Hanfu Information (HI), a hanfu promotion (宣传) group, over 21,000 sets of hanfu were sold online earlier this year. Another online survey by HI in 2017 showed that over 88% of people believe that wearing hanfu is a good way to learn about Chinese culture. It’s true that the number of hanfu fans is growing.
The organizers say they will make China Huafu Day a yearly event and they have set the third day of the third month of the traditional Chinese calendar as the date of the event.

It brings the nation together to explain why it's so good to move, highlighting the role that physical activity plays in helping us lead healthier and happier lives.
Physical inactivity has been listed as a leading cause of illnesses. However, according to a report by ukactive, adults in the UK spend eight times longer watching TV than exercising. That's why National Fitness Day wants to open a national conversation about the advantages of physical activity, both to the individual and to society as a whole.
Being more active helps improve our physical health. It is also good for our mental health. Held yearly during the European Week of Sport (taking place every year from September 23 to September 30), National Fitness Day made more than four million people active on the day last year, from school classes to workplaces across the UK.
In 2020, thousands of clubs, parks, sports centers and gyms will open their doors to welcome everyone to get active. Booking a museum ticket this past summer was not easy. Visitors often found that tickets for the following week had been fully booked. Across China, museum halls were filled with visitors during the summer vacation. To many museums, such crowds had not often been seen before. So, what was behind this “museum craze (狂热)”?
Part of the reason is a growing interest in traditional Chinese culture, according to Guo Sike, leader of the Confucius Museum in Shandong province.
“Nowadays, young Chinese love traditional Chinese culture,” said Guo. He added that modern technologies have also played a role. They allow people to experience traditional culture in more ways.
The Shaanxi History Museum in the city of Xi’an also saw an increase in visitors. The museum can only allow 12,000 people to visit each day. Its ticket booking app, however, received more than 600,000 clicks a day. To solve the problem, the museum called off its Monday rest. It was also open for more hours on Sundays.
Popular study tours also helped bring more people to museums. The Confucius Museum saw many of these tours. In Xi’an, the Qinqiang Opera was a popular subject of study tours. Local museums offered chances to learn the culture.
“Museums are bridges. They connect the past, present and future,” said Yang Chaoming, a professor at Shandong University. “More and more people wish to better learn about traditional Chinese culture through museum visits.”

I heard those words again and again last summer as I sat by the window, which faces a park in the small town where I live.
The Kindness Rocks Project, which was started a few years ago by a mom in Massachusetts, has spread around the world. Kids, families, and people of all ages are taking part in painting rocks, hiding rocks, and finding painted rocks all over the place. Some post photos of the rocks on social media (传媒), and others simply move the rocks for someone else to find. Some take the rocks home and then replace them with new ones that they created and hid.
Nine-year-old twins Harry and Hannah DeVrieze have painted hundreds of rocks with their parents. Most evenings, the family and their small dog walk around with a wagon (运货车) full of rocks that they hide as they walk.
“It’s a fun family activity,” Hannah says.
“We will do it in the winter too,” Hannah says.
Ben Burinsky, age nine, and his brother, Luke, age seven, were visiting relatives (亲戚) when they found their first painted rock in a park. They were so excited that they went home and painted their own rocks, then hid them for others to find.
“My boys loved finding the rock in the park, especially since it was a superhero,” their mother, Judy Burinsky, says. “I love how something so small can bring a smile to my children’s faces. In return, they learn the value of giving back to others.”
Kadyn Kinney, age nine, and his seven-year-old brother, Jayce, have also painted many rocks. They love to hide rocks and look for rocks with their mom and dad. When their grandmother visited, they gave her painted rocks to take home and hide in the Florida town where she lives. When asked how many rocks he has painted so far, Jayce says, “Trust me! I’ve painted more than 30.”

It was a weekend in spring, my family went for mountain climbing. Though a little fat girl at that time, I enjoyed climbing mountains a lot. We started at six in the morning, took a rest every one hour or so. On our way up, my father told me to hold the breath and make it until the last moment. The last hundreds of stairs would be the most difficult. I was really tired, my legs couldn’t stand well, and the top of the mountain seemed so far away.
I just wanted to sit down and give up the climbing, and again my father said to me, “Look down the hill, it is just like a picture!” I suddenly noticed the beautiful view alongside was perfect. It was the time when you were in full communication with nature and all the tiredness seemed worth. We cheered each other up by chatting or singing, until we finally reached the top after five or six hours.
There’s actually no meaning in traveling; traveling is among the experiences adding joy to your way of life already there. So just enjoy it, body and soul.

Everyday favorites have the same amount of sugar as bags of sweets. A can of cola has 35g sugar, the same as one-and-a-quarter bags of fruit sweets. And energy drinks(功能饮料) can be even worse, with as much as 20 teaspoons of sugar in one can.
Many scientists and parents are caring about the amount of sugar children are having, “Soft drinks aren’t just a drink — they have large amounts of unseen sugar.” says one doctor.
A bottle of water often costs nearly as much as a soft drink. As a result, young people are willing to buy a sugary soft drink, especially if it’s advertised as having health-giving vitamins.
“Soft drinks are designed (设计) to be very attractive(吸引) for children,” says one mum, “And there is so much choice — all in different colors and nice bottles and cans. Why would anyone choose water? Clearly, some bright, fruity drink is more attractive. They don’t advertise that they are bad for health.”
Some schools are now taking actions to stop children from getting these drinks during the day. Head teacher Nabil Singh says: “We have taken away all vending (售卖) machines selling sugary drinks and put healthier alternatives there, although many students disagree with it. We have to put their health first. Some of these drinks are no better than sugary poison.”

To make sure that students could keep studying, most schools began to offer online courses for them at home. However, you may met all kinds of difficulties while taking online classes for the first time. I hope you can get some ideas from the following examples of four students who tried to improve their online studies.
Ensure a good connection Zhao Yuchen, 13, Beijing For me, the biggest headache about studying online is the poor quality of my Internet connection. This almost made me mad. During one of my online classes, I couldn't hear my English teacher's voice and I had to reconnect. It wasted lots of time. Since then, I checked my network before class every day, and I asked my family members not to use the Internet while I was having a class. | Plan your time properly Lin Xiyu, 14, Shanghai I had a hard time planning my course timetable at first. Planning ahead with a study calendar is very important for effective (有效的) online learning. Many online games are very attractive to me, and they may take a lot of time away. I have used a timer (计时器) to record time spent on non-course websites and limit myself to five minutes at a time.
