Technology is changing almost every industry, especially fashion. Imagine wearing a computer in the form of clothing, like a jacket. Now it is possible.

The clothing company Levi Strauss & Co. worked with technology company Google to create what is being called a smart jacket. The word "small" is often used to describe actions controlled by a computer. What makes this jacket "smart" is washable(耐洗的)technology added to the cuff(袖口).

Ivan Poupyrev heads the smart clothing project for Google.

"When somebody calls you, your jacket shakes and gives you lights and you know somebody is calling you."

A touch on the cuff can provide directions for helping you get to where you need to go. The jacket also can play music when connected with a mobile phone or headphones.

"You get the most important features of the phone without taking your eyes off the road." said Paul Dillinger of Levi Strauss & Co.

The Levi's smart jacket can be bought on the Internet for $350.

It is just one step to smarter clothing.

Poupyrev explained that Google plans to use the technology for any kind of clothing. He added that the company is working with other partners in the fashion industry to help to make their products connected.

From how clothes are used to how they are made, computing power is changing the fashion industry. With the help of new technologies, designers can create designs that people have never seen before.

Technology is also changing popular fashion. The rise of social media(社交媒体) means it is not just designers who decide the latest looks in fashion. Artificial intelligence (人工智能)can now collect information from social media and the Internet to help designers understand what the public likes.

文章大意:本文介绍了狗利用它们灵敏的嗅觉识别癌症的事情,并通过实例证实,由此说明狗可能对医学问题有帮助。

【推荐3】Dogs might have the latest tools in the fight against cancer—their noses! Researchers at California’s Pine Street Foundation(PSF)say they have trained five dogs to smell cancer. This could be exciting news.

A dog’s sense of smell may be 10,000 to 100,000 times stronger than ours. But can dogs really smell illness? PSF researcher Michael McCulloch says yes. “We were very surprised by how exact they were, he said.” They were telling who had cancer, and they were also saying who didn’t.”

McCulloch and his team asked four healthy people and one with cancer to blow into plastic tubes (管), where the things of each breath were kept. The tubes were then placed one yard apart. Finally the dogs were allowed to smell the tubes. Each dog had been trained for three weeks to sit when it smelled cancer. 99% of the time, the dog sat next to the tubes blown into by patients with lung cancer. The dogs were right 88% of the time about breast cancer.

No lab test for cancer has given more correct results than this one. The results are so amazing that many experts question the dogs’ smelling power. They wonder if there were other reasons why the dogs did so well. However, most experts agree that this study is important. The information could help scientists create a simple breath test for cancer in the future. Once again humans may be getting a helping nose—from their best animal friends.
