文章大意:本文主要讲述了富裕国家买了很多的新冠疫苗,导致中低收入国家无法得到足够的疫苗,从而加大疫情的风险,因此世界卫生组织设立了新冠肺炎疫苗全球获取设施。

【推荐1】Some high-income countries, representing 16 percent of the global population, have snapped up at least 70 percent of COVID-19 vaccine(疫苗) doses available in 2021, according to a report published in the medical journal the Lancet on Friday.

In the report, scientists said rich countries had secured at least 4.2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines, warning that their stockpiling of the vaccine doses would result in a shortfall in poorer and middle-income countries for years to come.

According to COVID-19 vaccine procurement data tracked by Duke Global Health Innovation Center, as of Feb 8, the US has bought more than l.2 billion doses to vaccinate its population twice; Canada has purchased enough doses to vaccinate its population five times; Germany has ordered enough doses to vaccinate its people more than two and a half times; and the UK has got more than three times than it needs to inoculate its whole population.

Meanwhile, billions of individuals in low and middle-income countries around the world might not have access to COVID-19 vaccines in 2021, the report said, warning it could prolong the pandemic and raises the risk of further mutations of the virus so that current vaccine may not work in the future.

The world now needs more doses of COVID-19 vaccines than for any other vaccine in history to inoculate enough people for global vaccine immunity, the report said.

However, scarcity in supply coupled with large volumes of pre-orders made by rich countries creates challenges to achieving timely and universal access, it said.

The World Health Organization has set up the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access(COVAX) Facility, a global allocation(分配) mechanism to ensure equal access to the vaccines. But wealthy countries have simply chosen to bypass it and strike deals with vaccine developers by themselves.

The COVID-19 pandemic is unlikely to end until all countries can access the vaccines and achieve global herd immunity, the report said. None of us is safe until all of us are safe. Unless vaccines are distributed more equitably, it could be years before the coronavirus is brought under control at a global level.

During the 2016 Rio Olympics, people were surprised to see the round, purple marks on the body of the famous American swimmer Michael Phelps. What happened to him? In fact, he just visited a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and had "cupping" (拔火罐).

Massage and acupuncture (针灸) are two other important kinds of TCM. Chinese massage can make you relaxed and fresh. In acupuncture, doctors put long needle (针) into the patients' heads, faces, arms...     1    .

TCM is an important part of Chinese culture. The earliest medical classic in China, Huangdi's Classic on Medicine, came out more than 2,000 years ago. The book is about the relationship between man and nature. In Chinese culture, yin and yang are the two parts of nature.     2     The human body needs such a balance, too. TCM helps to do that. Quite especially, for some health problems, the doctor of TCM will not give you medicine.     3

For example, it is common to eat on the way to school, at our desk, or in front of the TV. But TCM thinks it's wrong. Here are the correct ways: Sit down to eat. While eating, turn off the TV and get away from the work desk. Eat seasonal foods. Do not miss any of the three meals.     4     Just as the saying goes, "Running water is never stale (陈腐的)".

Nowadays, traditional Chinese medicine is becoming more and more popular around the world. A government report says that people in 183 countries and areas are now using TCM.

A.Also, get your body moving often.
B.It takes away pain, though the look is funny.
C.Nature keeps balanced if yin and yang work well together.
D.TCM is deeply tied to both five elements (五行) and yin-yang.
E.Instead, he may give you just a food plan and right ways to eat.

【推荐3】We all know that getting the flu is not fun. There are headaches, coughs, fevers, and other terrible feelings. To help us get better, we take some medicine and get much rest. We also drink lots of water and eat healthy food to make us feel better.

However, some people don’t want to get sick at all. So they get a flu shot before the flu season starts. The flu shot is in fact, a vaccine (疫苗), not usual cold medicine. It will protect them from the flu.

The vaccine introduces some of the flu into the body. But don’t worry. The flu is dead and won’t make you sick. It will teach your body to know it and fight it off in the future, though.

Vaccines not only protect you but also protect others. That’s because they help stop diseases (疾病) from spreading (扩散) from person to person. When fewer people have the diseases, the chances of getting them go down. Sometimes, the diseases completely go away.

Even though vaccines are quite safe, some adults are afraid of them. Their worry is that the vaccines will cause serious side effects (副作用). Vaccines might cause side effects, but they are usually not as terrible as people imagine. For most people, vaccines are and make them better.
