Many ways to sleep
How do you sleep? Most people sleep on their backs or sides. 1. Do animals sleep the same way? Actually the ways they sleep are much more different—they can lie down, sit or stand while they sleep.
Swiss scientists did a study on 250 different animals. They found that the animals' sleeping postures(姿势)had something to do with their body size and weight.
The small animal with short legs sleeps on its stomach. Its body shape is perfect for this posture. It also likes to put its legs under its body. Rabbits and cats sleep this way.
But larger animals sleep differently. 2. They lie on their sides. That's because this is more comfortable for their longer legs. Cows often sleep like this.
However, there are exceptions(例外). Small animals such as mice sometimes sit down to take a short sleep. Some large animals such as horses, zebras and giraffes sleep standing up. 3. In this way, they can quickly escape if they are in danger.

So, it is exam time again. 1. 到目前为止,你为取得好成绩努力过吗? Sleeping with the textbook under the pillow doesn’t work. The best way is to space(隔开)the practice out, rather than cram(塞)it all together. Just as a scientist Tom Sanford advises, if you organize five hours of study on one day into one hour a day(five hours for five days), you’ll remember more than if you study for five hours on one day.
It is not enough to depend on your memory alone. Get pens and paper and start working! 2. If you can put it into practice, you will get the knowledge in a quicker way. John Dusky, a professor in the US, suggests “You start by reading a textbook with your favorite pens and colors. 3. 把重要的信息写在卡片上是有必要的。 While doing so, you are actually having a good revision(复习)on what you have learned. ”
4. A good revision can help you to build your confidence. If you are still worried, it’s not harmful to follow some special customs. In Japan, it seems to be a tradition for students to eat “Katsudon” before a test. This is a bowl of rice with eggs and pork pieces. The name of the dish reminds people of the word “Katsu”, meaning “winning”. The key to success is avoid washing their hair before an exam for some students in South Korea. In their opinion, doing so would wash all the knowledge out of their heads. And in different parts of the world, there are always those who believe in their “lucky underwear”.
The bottom line is that you need to study, eat a good meal, sleep well on the eve of the test. 5. As long as you do the things above, your efforts will pay off.
