Kobe Bryant was born with basketball already in his blood. His dad was a former NBA star. When Kobe was six years old, his dad started playing basketball in Europe, so his family moved to Italy. The family stayed there for seven years. While living in Italy, Kobe learned to speak good Italian and started playing basketball.
The family moved back to the United States when Kobe was 13 and he started playing high school basketball. Kobe figured he was already good enough to play in the NBA, so he skipped college and was chosen right after high school by the Charlotte Hornets in the first round of the 1996 NBA Draft. In a trade the Hornets are still crying about, they sent Kobe to the LA Lakers. Although he did not go to college, Kobe was a quick learner on the courts of the NBA. He played in the NBA All-Star Game for the first time in 1998 and by 2000, Kobe had developed into one of basketball's best players. Kobe and Shaquille O'Neal teamed up to lead the LA Lakers to three straight NBA Championship Titles from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, Kobe was caught by the police.
In 2004, the case against Kobe was dropped, but Kobe still had to live with a damaged reputation(受损的名誉). In 2004, Kobe tried to show that he could lead the LA Lakers without Shaq. After Kobe told the Lakers he wouldn't be wearing the purple and gold if Shaq was in the team, O'Neal was traded to the Miami Heat before the 2004-2005 season. The trade was good news for the Heat, who won the NBA championship冠军with O'Neal. In the next few years, Kobe grew disappointed as his team repeatedly suffered first round exits(退出). The 2007-2008 season is when the LA Lakers finally got over the hump. They went on to have the best record of any team.

Let us take an obvious example. Man, even five hundred years ago, was shorten than he is today. Now, on average, men are about three inches taller. Five hundred years is relatively short period of time, so we may think that man will continue to grow taller. Again, in the modern world we use our brain a great deal. Even so, we will make use of only about 20% of the brain’s capacity. As time goes on, however, we shall have to use our brains more and more, and finally we shall need large ones! This is likely to bring about a physical change to the head, especially the forehead, will grow larger.
Nowadays our eyes are in constant use. In fact, we use them so much that very often they become weaker and we have to wear glasses. But over very long period of time it is likely that man’s eyes will grow stronger.
On the other hand, we tend to (倾向于) make less use of our arms and legs. These, as a result, are likely to grow weaker. At the same time, however, our fingers will grow more sensitive because they are used a great deal in modern life.
But what about hair? This will probably disappear from the body totally as time goes by because it does not serve a useful purpose any longer. In the future, then, both sexes are likely to be bald(秃顶的).
Perhaps all this gives the impression that future man will not be a very attractive creature to look at! This may well be true. All the same. Although all these changes, future man will still have a lot in common with us. He will still be a human being, with thoughts and emotions similar to our own.

A.He thinks and feels in different way. |
B.He has smaller eyes and wears better glasses. |
C.He is hairless because hair is no longer useful. |

A meteor is something that falls through the earth’s atmosphere (the air around the earth) and has a burning long tail. Usually, meteors are rocks that burn (燃烧) up as they fall. As they burn, the rocks shine brightly.
Most meteors burn up quickly in the atmosphere and never hit the ground. But if a meteor does fall down to the ground it is called a meteorite, this doesn’t happen very often but can one day bring the end of world. The rocks that we see as meteors come from different places of space. Scientists call these rocks meteoroids. Like planets, meteoroids travel in space, but they are much smaller than planets. Most meteoroids travel very far from the earth and we don’t see them.
However, some meteoroids can travel very close to us and get in the way of the earth. Gravity (重心) then pulls them through the earth’s atmosphere, turning them into the meteors that you see in the night sky. The largest meteorite ever found in the United States is the Willamette Meteorite. This rock got here thousands of years ago. Today, you can see the 15, 000-kilogram meteorite at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. It has been on show there since 1906.

A Happy Rain on a Spring Night | |
Good rain knows its time right; It will fall when comes spring. With wind it steals in night: Mute, it moistens each thing. | O’er wild lanes dark cloud spreads; In boat a lantern looms. Dawn sees saturated reds. The town’s heavy with blooms. —Translated by Xu Yuanchong |
This famous poem, with four couplets (对句), was written by Du Fu (712—770), Tang Dynasty.when he was living and farming in Chengdu. His farming experience taught him to be thankful for nature.
The very first word, “Good”, shows the poet’s joy and love for the spring rain. The rain is good because it “knows” the proper time to come. Here the poet uses personification (拟人化), as if the rain were smart enough to come in time for the farmer’s busy season.
When the rain comes, it appears during the night without making any noise. Unlike the summer storms, the spring rain finishes is task without being known.
In the third couplet, the poet describes a peaceful scene to us. In the night sky, the clouds look dark and heavy. It’s a sign that there will be enough rain during the night. The light from the riverboat makes the dark scene a bit livelier.
