My arms are shorter than others', but I never think I'm different. I don't think of myself as a "disabled" person because I feel like I can do anything I want. With the help of my parents, friends and a special plan for the young people with disabilities, I know how to fight for myself and how to be strong. That doesn't mean it is always a piece of cake for me. I also had some bad experiences such as the way people looked at me, though they were kind.

When I was three, my family moved to New York because there were first-class hospitals. I missed some lessons because of surgeries (外科手术), so I had to work harder than others.

When I went to the seventh grade, I got a lot better. I also made some friends and we had a great time together. As classes got harder, life became more stressful for me. I had to spend more time remembering things, taking notes and preparing for tests. Luckily, I never failed (不及格) any tests.

When I went into university, I wrote an article about myself for a newspaper. It helped more people know me. Many people wrote to me after reading the article. They thought I was excellent to get over from over 10 surgeries. And I was happy to share my story and make friends with them, too.

文章大意:本文主要讲了2019年2月故宫博物馆首次开放了两个晚上供游客们体验,而人们也感受到了故宫不同以往的一面。

【推荐1】For the first time, the Palace Museum opened its doors to the public at night for two days in February, 2019. It gives visitors the chance to see its palaces and temples in beautiful lights. The idea was a hit.

The webpage for people to sign for free tickets went wrong because of traffic. The museum gave away 500 tickets for people to join 2,500 invited guests on Tuesday, and another 3,000 tickets for Wednesday night.

The lucky visitors enjoyed light shows and a Beijing opera show at the Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds, the Palace Museum’s largest theater. They could hear the music all over the museum, as there were fewer people at night than during the day.

The opening was part of an effort(努力)to change the image(形象)of the Palace Museum as it has always been conservative(保守的).

【推荐2】My father was born in a small town in the US. He wanted to get out and begin a new journey.

He began that journey by traveling to different cities in the US before going on to other countries. He took his wife and three daughters with him and went wherever the road took him.

It’s easy to feel lonely when you’re on the road. As my mother said many times, “We made lots of new friends on our trip-most of them were workers who fix cars, because we often spent hours in repair shops during the journey.”

Getting along well with other people sometimes seemed impossible. There were always a lot of arguments, especially among us back-seat passengers about who had to sit in the middle.

But even if it was hard, we learned a lot about forgiveness.

When in the Philippines, we drove to Quezon City one day. Because of bad roads, it used to be a one-hour drive but was nearly three. “Did you put our suitcases (行李箱) in the car?” my father asked my mother as we arrived. “No,” she said. “I thought you did.”

In situations like that, we had to learn to let go of our angry feelings. We were stuck (困在) in a moving box with the same people for the rest of the journey. Even if I sometimes felt like opening the car door and pushing one of my sisters out, I kept my feelings to myself.

This is why road trips were like moving universities to us. We got our PhDs (博士学位) in how to get along with other people just by traveling in that old car.

1. Who did the writer’s family make many friends with on their trip?
A.Other travelers.B.Shop owners.

3. What do we know about their trip in the Philippines?
A.They took a train to Quezon City.
B.The writer’s mother lost their suitcases.
C.They spent more time driving than they planned.
D.The writer pushed one of her sisters out of the car.
4. What word would the writer use to describe these trips?
A.Peaceful.B.Educational.C.Boring.D.Surprising.
