It's difficult when you have no good friends around—maybe because you have moved to a different school or a different class or you're sick at home. You may feel lonely without friends. You want to have new friends. But how to make them? How do you start? How do you get along with people? Here are five ways to help you to do these.
Greet (问候) people
Greet people and hope that they have a good day—whatever time of day it is. It doesn't hurt any people. It also makes people think you're friendly.
Share:
Take something to eat in your pocket. Ask if people would like to have some, and at the same time hand it to them.
Help people:
Simple actions, like helping people carry something or opening a door show your kindness.
Smile:
Perhaps smiling is the easiest way to introduce yourself. There's a great reason why it takes fewer muscles (肌肉) to smile than to cry. Nature just wishes us to smile more.
Respect (尊敬) others:
The world's full of differences. So learn to respect others. It is the only way other people will respect you.

Vocabulary(词汇) is important to English beginners. The following are some ways to help students learn words much faster.
Flashcard(抽认卡)
To make flashcards, you just need cards and colorful pens. You write the English word on one side of a card and draw a picture on the the other side to make you know the word. For Chinese students, you can write Chinese on the card. Students can play memory games with flashcards or have others check them until they know more words.
Grouping games
Grouping games help students learn more vocabulary skills. By grouping English words together, students use the association (联系) between different words to remember more information.
It’s better for beginners to start with word groups, like food, body parts or things at home. If the students can’t remember a word, other words in the same group may help.

An 11-year-old blind girl is proud of walking alone every day to and from school. Why? She has to walk past so many barriers (障碍物) in her way. The girl's home is near the school, yet her mother follows her without letting her know.
The case of the girl shows the barrier-free(障碍物) facilities (设施) are not enough in her city. Many other cities are short of barrier-free facilities as well. There's no well-designed path for the blind. In fact. in the early 2000s, some cities started to build barrier-free facilities for disabled people. However, almost 20 years later, only a few large cities have had facilities of high quality.
It's common that sidewalks are taken up with barriers. Few workers are sent to move them away, so it's dangerous for the blind to walk on them. Also, some other barrier-free facilities are badly destroyed(毁坏). Only a few workers are assigned (分配) to do the task of repairing the broken ones.
Some ideas can make a difference — build more barrier-free facilities, employ(雇用) more of workers and require money. In a word, more money is needed to carry on with the work. It’s our duty to make life easy for disabled people, so that they can live without barriers some day.

【推荐3】A coloring book for grown-ups, Secret Garden, designed by Scottish illustrator Johanna, has sold more than 1 million copies in China since in June, becoming the bestseller with the fewest words. The reasons why it becomes so popular among grown-ups are as follows:
Many readers describe the book as “a pressure-reducing tool” that helps people “recover from depression”.
There is something mysterious(神秘的)about coloring in that lets people slow down from the fast life and forget about some daily routines.
Every reader is actually a “co-author” of the book, or a gardener, when they take part in the gardening process. People may feel like walking into a secret garden and become its owner when the whole coloring in is complete.
Colors people use reflect(反映)their understanding of life. The “white space” on a Secret Garden page represents the space in modern people’s heart. People can feel a strong sense of control and self-fulfillment while coloring in the space on paper.
There are also some other opinions about this book. Some people don’t see any value in coloring in pictures and patterns. It usually takes at least 20 hours for careful readers to fill in all the colors of a single picture in the book. Many think that there are so many things need to be done while coloring in the innumerable(数不尽的)little spaces, and matching the right colors is also a “brain-tiring” exercise. Besides, some doctors warn of the negative impact of coloring in pictures for long hours, such as cervical spondylosis(颈椎病)and shortsightedness(近视). And for most people, regular exercise is better than coloring books to maintain physical and mental health.

I always looked for everything. Over time, Kate got neater and I got messier. She would push my dirty clothing over, and I would lay my books on her tidy desk. We both got tired of each other.
War broke out one evening. Kate came into the room. Soon, I heard her screaming, “Take your shoes away! Why under my bed!” Suddenly, I saw my shoes flying at me. I jumped to my feet and started shouting. She shouted back louder.
The room was filled with anger. We could not have stayed together for a single minute but for a phone call. Kate answered it. From her end of the conversation, I could tell right away her grandma was seriously ill. When she hung up, she quickly crawled(爬)under her covers, crying lowly. Obviously, that was something she should not go through alone. All of a sudden, a warm feeling of sympathy(同情)rose up in my heart.
Slowly, I collected the pencils, took back the books, made my bed, cleaned the socks and swept the floor, even on her side. I got so into my work that I even didn’t notice Kate had sat up.
She was watching, her tears dried and her expression of disbelief. Then, she reached out her hands to hold mine. I looked up into her eyes. She smiled at me, “Thanks.”
Kate and I stayed roommates for the rest of the year. We didn’t always agree, but we learned the key to living together: giving in, cleaning up and holding on.
