After killing the Wicked Witch with water, Dorothy at once got the Lion out of prison. They went in together to the Yellow Castle to set all the Winkies free. The Winkies cried at the news.

From then on, that day was a holiday of food and dance. “If only the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman were with us, I’d be very happy,” said the Lion.

Dorothy decided to save them with the help of the Winkies. They travelled a day and a half to find the Tin Woodman. He was all broken. Dorothy cried at the situation of her old friend. The Winkies lifted him carefully and carried him to the Yellow Castle. Dorothy asked the Winkies to bring all the tinsmiths with all their tools and it took the tinsmiths three days and four nights to make the Tin Woodman into shape again.

When he walked into Dorothy’s room, he was as good as ever.

“If only we had the Scarecrow with us,” the Tin Woodman said. “I would be very happy.” “We must find him, too.” Dorothy said.

She called the Winkies again. They walked a day and a half until they came to the tall tree where the Winged Monkeys threw the Scarecrow’s clothes.

The Tin Woodman cut the tree and then they picked the clothes up and carried them back to the castle.

They filled them with clean straw and the Scarecrow is a new man.

The friends all cried. The Lion wiped his eyes so often with this tail that it became wet and he had to hold it in the sun to dry.

“We must go back to the Emerald City ,” Dorothy said. “Yes,” said the Woodman. “I will get my heart.”

“And I will get my brains,” the Scarecrow said. The Lion said, “I will get my courage.”

“And I will go back home!” Dorothy shouted.

The Winkies even cried to see them leave. But everyone said they needed to go. The next day the travellers left for the Emerald City.

The doctor looked her over carefully, then he said, ”You are in good health for a woman of your age. I think the trouble in your right leg is just a matter of old age. We get all kinds of illnesses when we get older. The trouble will almost end when the weather turns warm.”

【推荐2】What happens when we want to do something impossible? It may seem unlikely, but it is our true nature. It may seem silly, but it is our heart’s purpose.

Once there was a strong camel. She liked dancing very much. She wanted to be a ballet (芭蕾舞) dancer. “To make every movement a thing of beauty,” said the camel, “is my dream.”

Again and again she practiced. She repeated the five basic positions a hundred times each day. She worked for long months under the hot sun, but not once did she think of stopping.

At last the camel said, “Now, I am a dancer.” She gave a performance and danced before an invited group of friends. She did very well. When her dance was over, she made a deep bow.

There was no applause (鼓掌). Instead, everyone laughed at her.

“I must tell you frankly,” said one of her friends, “you are lumpy and humpy. You don’t have any talent in dancing. You are, like the rest of us, simply a camel. You are just an animal. You are not and never will be a ballet dancer!” With these words, they moved away across the sand, laughing and joking.

“How wrong they are!” said the camel. “I have worked hard. I will be a good dancer. I will dance and dance just for myself.” That is what she did. It gave her many years of pleasure.
