My grandparents live in a house with a big yard near us. The yard is like a small farm. There is a pig, some rabbits, chickens and some kinds of vegetables.
For me, the most interesting place is the chicken house. There are eight hens (母鸡) and they can lay eggs (下蛋). My grandmother usually puts some eggs into the warm box with the hens every summer. So the chickens can be born soon.
After the chickens are born, my grandmother lets me keep one. It is not strong, so I can’t play with it or take it outside. I always give some bread and vegetables to it. After a few weeks the chicken can live outside the chicken house and I can visit it if I miss it.

How are you? First let me tell you about our new house. We got here on Monday. We’re still unpacking(打开整理) boxes. My old bedroom was big, but my new bedroom is even bigger. It’s nice, but it doesn’t feel like my house yet.
We move here for lots of reasons. One reason is that my dad is going to work at a new company. He’s happy because he’ll be at home every Saturday and Sunday. I hope we can play baseball together. There’s a baseball field in the park across the street. I couldn’t play baseball near my old house. There is also a lake around there. We want to go fishing tomorrow.

Soon after, they’re posting the video on social media. A teenage boy is playing a new song on his guitar. His mother is filming him. Two days later, the boy discovers that other people are watching the video online.
Parents in the UK post about 1,000 photos of their children online from when they are born until their fifth birthday. Babies and toddlers don’t care about this at the time. But a study by the University of Michigan suggests that there is a difference with 10-to 17-year-olds. Teenagers don’t always like parents posting some photos. All babies cry, but teenagers don’t want people to see old photos of themselves doing this.
Some parents share all kinds of photos of their children, maybe even when they are doing something silly. They do it with good purposes, for example, to share special moments with grandparents or family who live far away. But some middle-aged users of social media don’t check their privacy (隐私) settings and share posts with others by accident.
In some countries, parents are not allowed to post photos of their own children without their permission. In Italy, a 16-year-old boy is requiring his mother either to stop sharing images of him on social media or pay a €10,000 fine! In France, parents pay fines of up to €45,000 and can spend a year in prison (监狱) when they post photos of their children without their permission.
Parents are usually very sensible (敏感) about photos of their children. The report from the University of Michigan suggests this is an area where it’s important for parents to listen to children over ten. Let them say what they are happy to share, and who with. That way the whole family can enjoy looking back at all those special moments!

Every school has its own set of rules to keep students disciplined (守纪律的). The rules change from one school to another. Some schools are much stricter than others. There are also some rules that look strange or funny to us. Here are some funny school rules:
In Japan, most schools demand (强烈要求) that students wear uniforms, such as sports suits or skirts. But many Japanese schools even regulate (规定) the color of underwear! They also demand that girls’ white socks are folded in a certain way and boys’ heads are shaved (被剃光). And Japanese schools also tell students that they may not date, go to the movies, leave home after sunset or play video games without permission from the school.
In America, for safety at some schools, students must have a pair of indoor shoes to change into at school every day. This makes sure students won’t fall over on the wet floors and keeps the schools clean. Chewing gum (嚼口香糖) is not allowed in many US school buildings, as it is difficult to clean up. And if students chew gum in class,_________.
In Britain, strange hairstyles are not allowed in some schools. But they might allow students to wear certain hairstyles during the World Cup years. So I decided to make myself a boat. I cut down a big tree, and then began to make a long hole in it. It was hard work, but about six months later, I had a very fine canoe(独木舟). Next, I had to get it down to the sea. How silly I was! Why didn’t I think carefully before I began to work? Of course, the canoe was too heavy. I couldn’t move it! I pulled and pushed and tried everything, but it didn’t move. I was very unhappy for a long time after that.
In my sixth year on the island, I did make myself a smaller canoe, but I did not try to leave in it. The boat was too small for a long journey, and I did not want to die at sea. The island was my home now, and I was just happy to be alive. A year or two later, I made myself a second canoe on the other side of the island. I also built myself a second house there, and so I had two homes.
I kept food and tools at both of my houses, and also wild goats. There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learned to take food from me, and soon I had goats’ milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn fields. And so, many years went by.
