Foreign Funny School Rules
Every school has its own set of rules to keep students disciplined (守纪律的). The rules change from one school to another. Some schools are much stricter than others. There are also some rules that look strange or funny to us. Here are some funny school rules:
In Japan, most schools demand (强烈要求) that students wear uniforms, such as sports suits or skirts. But many Japanese schools even regulate (规定) the color of underwear! They also demand that girls’ white socks are folded in a certain way and boys’ heads are shaved (被剃光). And Japanese schools also tell students that they may not date, go to the movies, leave home after sunset or play video games without permission from the school.
In America, for safety at some schools, students must have a pair of indoor shoes to change into at school every day. This makes sure students won’t fall over on the wet floors and keeps the schools clean. Chewing gum (嚼口香糖) is not allowed in many US school buildings, as it is difficult to clean up. And if students chew gum in class,_________.
In Britain, strange hairstyles are not allowed in some schools. But they might allow students to wear certain hairstyles during the World Cup years. Two students had a special design shaved into their hair during 2006 World Cup. But they were not accepted by their school after that because the school said the rules had changed since then.

Later, you cannot fall asleep—you want more conversations! Or do you prefer a quieter corner? Or perhaps you cannot wait to go home early and relax by yourself.
Which of these people sound most like you? Person A, who tries to talk to everyone and stays late? Or Person B, who prefers to keep quiet and leaves early?
If you said Person A, you are probably more extroverted (外向的). If you said Person B, you are probably more introverted (内向的). Or perhaps you are Person C and fall somewhere in the middle. Introverted and extroverted people are two commonly used words to describe a person’s personality. And they are also commonly misused (误用) and misunderstood (误解).
Introverts may be thought as quiet, shy and timid (胆小的). Extroverts may be thought as brave, confident, loud and full of energy. Introverted and extroverted people may fit those descriptions. But these same descriptions do not define (定义) introversion and extroversion properly.
Introverts and extroverts use their brains differently, and they get their energy differently. Introversion is connected with one’s own mental (精神) life. Extroversion is the opposite. Extroversion is connected with what is outside oneself.
People who consider themselves introverts may say they “need to be alone to charge their batteries (充电)”. However, introverts may still live being social and going to parties. But such activities require time to prepare.
Extroverts may say, “I don’t need ‘alone time’, I feel more relaxed being around other people.” Even so, extroverts can still feel unsure or not confident among other people.

China’s 71-metre-tall Leshan Buddha (佛像), the largest stone Buddha in the world, re-opened to the public after experts carried out emergency restoration on the 1,300-year-old statue. Tourists are once again able to see the entirety of the towering (高耸的) sitting Buddha from the Min River by the mountain.

A worker said the Buddha had some cracks on its face, chest and stomach after being out in nature for more than a thousand years. The damage could have caused rocks to fall and endanger the tourists. An expert said the latest repair was not “systematic restoration”, but a “scientific and research project”. The repair project could lay foundation for the future overall protection of the Buddha, the expert told Xinhua News Agency.

Learn to love. During the journey of life, we are not alone. There are many people with us, family, friends, teachers and so on. They give us love and care and we should love and respect(尊重) them, including strangers. Be nice to others, and the world will be nice to us.
Treat the journey of life calmly and patiently, wait for the flowers to bloom and fall, and enjoy the clouds. The beauty of peace of mind is even more fascinating. A calm heart is like a blue and clear sky without dark clouds, like a clear pool of water without any pollution, and like the spring light on green leaves, giving us hope and courage.
