Unlike most bees, they will sting(叮咬)you only if they are disturbed(打扰), tree-bees will attack(攻击)you in thousands for no reason. And they will chase(追赶)you for your life.
Walking along a dusty road while I was on holiday there last year. I found myself, without the least warning, in the centre of such an attack. The air above me suddenly became thick(厚的)with bees. Though the weather was hot, I felt cold because of them. Until then I had never heard of Indian tree-bees, but I had recently seen a film called “The Angry Swarm” before, it was about killer-bees.
I began running to the village and it was a really hard time, because the killer-bees followed me all the time. When I reached the village, I found some workers building a house. I ran towards them for help. But as soon as the workers saw the bees with me, they ran for safety at top speed.
Soon my eyes have completely closed. I fell into a pile of brick dust. I pushed myself wildly down into it until my head and shoulders were covered. And then I tried hard to get out of the dust, the angry bees made a new attack on me. I was tired out and soon I lost my consciousness(意识).
Later I learned that two quick minded villagers ran to a pile of dry grass and quickly surrounded(包围)me with a thick wall of fire and smoke until the bees were driven away. They stayed with me, taking stings(蜂针)out of my body for the next three hours until a doctor came and gave me further treatment.

During the morning the dog got ill. He wouldn’t stop shaking his head and he couldn’t stand up properly. Mrs. Andrews thought, “He has eaten something that didn't agree with him. Maybe that sausage was bad…” She suddenly remembered her husband’s lunch and called him at the office.
“Jim, I hope you haven’t eaten any of those sandwiches yet.”
“Yes, I have…”
“You have ? Well. Listen, don’t eat any more. I gave Henry the last sausage and now he’s ill . Go to the doctor, Jim. Tell the doctor about the dog. Get some medicine at once.”
Jim came home at lunchtime and went to bed. “I have a very unpleasant hour with the doctor .” He told his wife. “ The medicine made me very sick.”
The next morning Jim was fine. Henry seemed quite well again, too. At eleven o’clock the milkman came with the milk.
“Good morning, Mrs. Andrews,” the milkman said. “How is your dog this morning? I have been thinking about him…”

Children who do not have enough sleep can not do their work well and they may not be healthy.
The body also needs exercise. Walking, running, jumping and playing games are all exercise. Exercise keeps the body strong.

If you look at the top of your phone, you will usually see a little symbol that says 3G or 4G. The G means “generation(代)” of your mobile network. But these symbols will become things of the past after 5G networks fully arrive.
On March 30, Shanghai vice-mayor (副市长) Wu Qing made the first 5G video call on a Huawei Mate X Smartphone, CGTN reported. Shanghai has also become the first city in China to start testing 5G networks.
About 100 times faster than 4G networks, 5G will let people download and upload data faster than ever before. But 5G won’t just bring faster mobile internet. People can use it for many other things well. For example, 5G will help to make self-driving cars safer. Today’s self-driving test cars have one problem—lag (延迟). When the car “sees” something, it sends this information to a data center and receives instructions.
However, it takes time to send and receive this information. With this kind of lag, the cars might crash because they don’t receive instructions in time. With 5G, this lag will be greatly lowered, making the cars safer, according to CNN.
5G could also be used to improve the Internet of Things (IoT物联网). This means a large online network that connects all things and people. Fast Internet speeds will be the key to developing this technology.
The IoT could be used in a lot of ways. For example, with IoT, your fridge could place an order online for eggs when it finds that there are no eggs left inside.

The reason for it is simple—if you keep the smaller ones, fewer fish will be able to grow and reproduce (繁殖), and the fish population will be in danger. But should we always keep the big ones?
One scientist, Dr. David Conover, has spent the last 10 years studying the effects of the “keep the big ones” rule.
To set up his experiment, Conover and his team caught hundreds of silverside fish and divided them into six groups. For two groups, Conover followed the “keep the large ones” rule and took out the biggest fish. For two other groups, he removed only the small fish. For the last two groups, he removed fish randomly (随机地).
After five years, he measured the fish in each group. In the two groups where the largest fish were regularly removed, the average (平均) fish size was smaller than the average size in the other groups. That is to say, if only small fish survive to reproduce, then future generations of fish are likely to be small.
For the second five years of his experiment, Conover changed the rules and took fish randomly from each group. At the end of the experiment, he found that the fish that were in the “keep the large ones” group for the first five years had started to get larger again, although he expected it would take at least 12 years for the fish in that group to return to their normal size. In other words, it takes less time to shrink (变小) than it does to recover.
1. The underlined word “it” in Line 2 refers to “________”.A.the activity | B.the fish | C.the rule | D.the fisherman |
A.It helps to protect fish numbers. | B.It helps to protect fish size. |
C.They are used to following it. | D.They will be punished if they don’t. |
A.It made no difference to fish size. | B.It affected all fish groups similarly. |
C.It made the fish bigger on average. | D.It made fish smaller on average. |
A.The whole experiment took Conover more than 12 years. |
B.The fish in the “keep the large ones” group grew to their normal size in the experiment. |
C.It takes fish more time to recover to their normal size than it does to grow smaller. |
D.The fish in the six groups had the same average size at the end of the experiment. |
A.To ask people to catch big fish. |
B.To describe a scientific experiment. |
C.To tell people the danger fish are facing. |
D.To introduce the rules of fishing to readers. |

The idea of an annual day for planting trees was first put forward in 1911 by Sun Yat-sen, the great pioneer in China’s history. He said more trees were needed as a protection against flood and drought (旱涝灾害). In 1915, the government named April 5th as Tree Planting Day. Then, in 1979, the day was changed to March 12th , to remember the date on which Sun Yat-sen died. The whole country plants trees on this day. In the last ten years, 65 billion trees have been planted across China.
“Everyone has heard of the Great Wall of China.” says Xing. “But have you heard of the Green Wall of China? That’s the biggest tree planting program of all.” The Gobi Desert in the north of China is growing every year. Terrible sandstorms blow away soil, making more land dry and useless. In 1978, a tree planting program began to try to stop the Gobi Desert from spreading (蔓延). The government and local farmers are planting millions of trees in a great green “wall” along the edge of the desert. When it is finished in 2050, it will be 4,500 kilometers long.
“Tree planting is a tradition in China now.” says Sun Lian. “Everyone does it on March 12th but many people also plant a tree on a day that is special just for them. My parents planted trees when I started school and we planted one on my cousin’s wedding day. We do it for the environment and for ourselves.”

Use body language. While it may feel impolite, you could turn away, leave your headphones on, and avoid looking at his or her eyes, which will show that you don’t want to talk. This may save you from directly telling someone to stop talking later on.
Keep working on whatever activity you are doing. Get up and move around, be active and find little things to do instead of listening.
Interrupt them as soon as you can. Saying things like “I’d like to add something” or “If I could interrupt you for just a minute” will often let someone know that they are talking too much.
Lead the conversation. This is especially helpful when dealing with someone you often talk to. Let them know that you heard what they said and guide the conversation in a different direction.
Mention that you don’t have a lot of time to talk. Expressions like “I would love to chat(聊天) but I have to go for a movie right now” and “Today’s not a great day to talk. I have a lot of tasks” will make you easily end the conversation.
