1 . Tree Planting Day is an important day in the world. Today, many countries have such a holiday. In China, Tree Planting Day is on March 12th. It is a day to remember Sun Yat-sen (孙中山). Sun Yat-sen was a great person in China. But many people don’t know that Sun Yat-sen helped to save trees.

Tree Planting Day in China started in 1915. From 1916 to 1928, Tree Planting Day was celebrated (庆祝) on the Chinese Qingming Festival each year. Sun Yat-sea asked people to stop cutting down trees in many of his books. He even planted trees himself with many people. Sun Yat-sen died on March 12th, 1925. In order to remember Sun Yat-sen, Chinese people decided to set Tree Planting Day on March 12th every year.

Planting trees is good for our Earth. It can make the world beautiful. Trees give us forests, stop soil (土壤) from losing, and protect farmland. They can make the Earth a good place for us to live in.

Without trees, our lives will be difficult. For example, we can’t get fruit or oil from trees. So it’s important for everyone to plant more trees an Tree Planting Day.

2 . Have you ever heard of Pi Day? You may think it is all about having pies. That’s only partly right. Pi Day is actually about maths! Every year on March 14th, maths lovers and scientists celebrate Pi Day to honor the special number π (3.1415926…).

Pi Day is a young international festival. It was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw. He worked at the Exploratorium, a museum of science and technology. He linked (联系) March 14th with π and celebrated his very first Pi Day with a pie party. Later, the celebration became a yearly tradition at the museum and more visitors joined in. In November 2019, Pi Day was designated (指定) as the International Day of Mathematics by UNESCO, an international organization.

There are many kinds of celebrations of Pi Day. Some people choose to memorize as many digits (数字) as they can, while some take part in a Pi parade, enjoying delicious pies and dancing to music. Besides, people use a writing style called Pilish to celebrate Pi Day. In a Pilish sentence, the number of letters in each word matches the digit of π. The first word has three letters, the second has one letter, the third has four letters, and so on. An engineer, Michael Keith, even wrote a book called Not a Wake by using Pilish.

Pi Day is a day of discovery and joy, reminding us of the importance and beauty of mathematics in our lives. Let’s celebrate the mathematical wonder of π!

On the second Sunday of October, it’s Canadian Dog Day. On that day, all the Canadian dogs will have their important day. Canadian people see it an important day. Because they think dogs are very kind to them and help them a lot. They can pull a sled (拉雪橇), take things and do many other important things.

In a town of Belgium (比利时), the second Sunday of May is Cat’s Day. People there play some interesting games to have fun. They hope they will have lucky days in the next year.

In Indonesia (印度尼西亚), May 7th is Monkey’s Day. People give many sweets and nuts to monkeys. They also play music for monkeys. All the monkeys usually have a good time on that day.

We live in the same world with animals, so we have to be friendly to them. And we should get on very well with them.

No matter if it’s burning hot or icy cold, a holiday or a school day, you’ll see policemen at the centers of the crossroads directing traffic.     2    

There are more than 1,7 million policemen in China.     3     Other police have different responsibilities (责任), Some are firefighters (消防员), Some watch Out for bad guys (家伙) and solve crimes. Others keep the peace. Special police deals with unexpected event.     4     He has to learn laws, science, shooting, driving and climbing.

To keep people safe and make peace for all, Chinese police put their lives at risk.     5     Another 13,000 were injured (伤害) in doing their jobs.

World Laughter Day is a special day that can be celebrated by anyone and anywhere. All they have to do is laugh aloud. Celebrated yearly on the first Sunday of May, the fun event was     1     by an Indian doctor, Dr. Madan Kataria. His act to make the world a happier     2     began in 1995, with the introduction of Laughter Yoga (大笑瑜伽), a fitness class where yoga players exercise breathing and uncontrolled laughter.

Though the     3     class was attended by only 5 students, information of this fun way of exercising soon began to spread (传播), and in a     4     time, laughter yoga classes began to be held all over the world. Today, there are over 6,000 clubs that offer this class in different countries.
