Every student spends lots of time studying and almost everyone would like their study to be more efficient (高效的). Here are two ways to help you manage your time better when studying.
Your study environment
Watching TV while studying is a bad idea and makes your study ineffective (无效的). So you’d better turn off the TV while you’re studying. Some students like listening to music while studying. Music is OK, but whether it helps or hurts depends on whether it can keep your mind at peace. Make sure that any music you listen to is actually helping you study, but not drawing your attention away. Good lighting and temperature are necessary, too. When it’s too hot or too cold, it will be harder for you to give all your attention to what you are working on.
Full attention for at least 40 minutes at a time
One of the most important things you can do to study efficiently is to give all the attention to your study for at least 40 minutes at a time. Don’t let anything else draw your attention away from the study during the period. Then have a rest and relax. Don’t study for too long a time because your brain gets tired and it needs a rest.
If you choose these ways, you will make an improvement in how you manage your time for study.

As a teacher, you need to create rules for your classroom. But how can you make your students want to follow the rules? Give them a hand in creating those rules! Here’s how to do it.
Start with a list of the main points, and then, through thoughtful discussion, work with your students to create a set of rules expressed in their language. Use this list as a starting point.
*Treat others as you would like to be treated.
*Respect (尊重) other people and their things.
*Laugh with anyone, but laugh at no one.
*Pay attention to your own learning.
*Come to class and hand in homework on time.
Most teachers agree that it’s best to choose only a few rules—those leading to successful learning and a great environment. It’s too hard to remember and a long list! Make your rules as clear and specific (明确的) as possible. Then decide with your students’ help what the punishment (惩罚) will be for breaking those rules.
Teach the rules as you would have a common lesson. It should be your first lesson. Discuss each rule, explain the idea behind it, and ask for examples of how it could be broken. Tell your students that rules help make everyone’s time in school more enjoyable, and use examples to explain this. The rules can also be posted (张贴) as a reminder (提示) and each student is advised to take a copy of the rules home.

Labor (劳动) education has been made a part of compulsory education (义务教育). Many students have one course every week on basic household (家庭的) skills such as cleaning and cooking. What do the public think of it?
Li Mei, a student in Beijing
We spend most of the time studying and have little time to develop our interests. A household skill class can give us chances to experience more aspects (方面) of life and help us discover different interests.
Mrs. Chen, a housewife in Hubei
Cooking classes are necessary. Children should be taught how to cook properly. And I think it’s a job for both teachers and parents.
Mr. Wang, a teacher in Shandong
We teach children basic household skills in order to help them learn how to take care of themselves. It’s impossible for their parents to help with every problem they meet in their life. They need to learn to solve problems by themselves and grow from their experiences.
Wu Lei, an engineer in Shanghai
I learned some basic cooking skills from my mother when I was a little boy. But most of them were learned after I graduated from the university, from online short videos. Household skills are very useful in our daily life. I hope these classes will really make the students realize that labor is important and valuable.

Welcome home! On April 16, astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu safely came back to Earth from the Tiangong space station. There are many interesting facts about their landing. Let’s take a look!
★ 1
When the Shenzhou XII came back from the space station in 2021, it took about 28 hours. This time, Shenzhou XIII cut down the number of orbits(环绕地球圈数) from eleven to five. It took just 9 hours to return!
★ 2
The re-entry capsule(返回舱) landed upright(直立的). This landing position is rare in China’s space flight history. Only Shenzhou VI and Shenzhou XIII have successfully done so. To achieve this, astronauts must let go off the parachute(降落伞) with precise timing. Landing upright makes sure that astronauts have the softest landing.
★ 3
The astronauts felt good after landing. But they still needed to sit on chairs. They need to spend a long time in recovering. Their muscles(肌肉) and bones became weaker. In the next few months, they will gradually get used to Earth’s gravity(重力).
★ 4
The astronauts said they missed food on Earth! It included noodles, porridge, shredded potatoes with vinegar(醋溜土豆丝), Sichuan sausages and yogurt. A tasty and healthy meal was waiting for them.

Several Asian hospitals are doing experiments with tele-medicine. Tele-medicine is a kind of technology that allows doctors to “see” patients without being in the same place. It is possible through high-speed communication networks. At both ends of the line, the way of video-meeting lets them see and talk to each other. Blood pressure and body temperature are directly shown on computers.
Tele-medicine has already been widely used in some countries such as the United States and Germany. Among other uses, village doctors hold “consultations(会诊)” with far-away experts(专家). The experts can also help them during operations.
Tele-medicine has been slowing to reach Asia because of high costs, besides other reasons. When things are improved, this kind of technology will develop very fast. Chinese University of Hong Kong’s medical school has joined a big hospital in Beijing, and Thailand is building a tele-medicine station connecting 20 areas.
Tele-medicine will do good to patients because doctors from different places can see them and give their medical advice. The help is quite important if the disease is an unusual one. It also helps spread medical knowledge among experts.
As tele-medicine develops well, its costs will be lower and it will become more popular in the medical field.
1. Does tele-medicine allow doctors to “see” patients without being in the same place?2. Where has the tele-medicine already been widely used?
3. Why does tele-medicine develop slowly in Asia besides other reasons?
4. What does Chinese University of Hong Kong’s medical school have done according to the passage?
5. How many areas will be connected if the Thailand tele-medicine station completes?
