Have you ever lied to someone? Students share their stories about this topic.
Student A: I tell lies sometimes because I don’t want to be criticized (指责). For example, I didn’t do well on an exam once. In order not to let my parents down, I told them I didn’t have any exams, so they didn’t scold (责备) me.

Student C: I used to lie to my mom. She always told me to have a little nap (午睡) at noon. I lied because I wanted to have time to do what I wanted, instead of something I don’t like, even though they are good for me.

Greg’s story began with failure. In 1993, he went to climb K2, the world’s second highest mountain. But Greg never made it to the top. After five days, he stumbled (踉跄) into the village of Korphe in northern Pakistan, injured (受伤) and hungry. The kind villagers there looked after him for several days.
