In the doctor’s waiting room, many men and women were sitting and waiting for the doctor to see them. Bob, a school boy, was in the room, too. They all looked sad but Bob didn’t. He looked happy. He was reading an interesting storybook. At that moment, the doctor came in to say he was ready for the next person. Bob got up and ran into the doctor’s room.
“What’s the matter with you?” said the doctor. Before Bob could say a word, the doctor made him lie down on a bed. “Now let me listen to your heart.” Bob wanted to sit up, but the doctor stopped him. After a moment, the doctor said to the boy, “Well, you don’t have a fever. There is nothing wrong with you.”
“I know there isn’t,” said Bob. “I came here only to get medicine for my dad. He has a fever.”

—He Liyan, 13, Jiangsu
John, 16, UK | At my school, sports can be very relaxing. We don’t have to go to a 40-minute class each week. Instead, we get to pick when we want to play sports. Also, the most great thing is that there are a great number of sports to choose from, so everyone can find something they enjoy. We can take lessons in swimming, rock climbing and dancing, along with ones in soccer, netball (女子无挡板篮球) and badminton. We don’t have exams for sports. |
Tim, 15, US | In my school, every afternoon from 3:30 to 5:00 is PE time. In PE classes, students usually just do practice, like running or weight lifting in the sports center. However, people in the US love sports a lot. Sports team training is another way of PE. Every school has sports teams, for example, American football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and much more. All the teams compete in different leagues (联盟). In order to get a better place, every team has their training plans, but they usually train until 5 p.m. every day. Some students can become team managers to help the coach in team training. |
