【推荐2】When our first grandchildren, Noah, was born, we were over the moon with excitement! We had expectations of what he would look like, how he would laugh, and how he would grow and develop like most babies. But unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Noah faced a lot of health problems from the very beginning. It was difficult and trying time for our family as we watched him struggle. Doctors gave him a label(标签)that broke our hearts — “failure to thrive(茁壮成长).”

One of the things we take for granted when we have children is their ability to eat. Unfortunately, Noah wasn’t able to suck(吮吸)like most babies. He couldn’t eat on his own, and it was heartbreaking for us to see him go through so much pain and discomfort. The doctors had to give him a feeding tube just to keep him alive.

One day, while I was at the grocery store, I saw a young mother walking by with her newborn baby. The baby started to cry a little, and in a disgusted(厌恶的)voice, the mother complained that she had to feed the baby again. It broke my heart to hear her complaining about something that I knew so many parents would be grateful for. So, I decided to share with her what Noah was going through. I told her, “You have no idea how thankful my daughter would be to feed Noah like you’re able to.”

Noah is a unique and outgoing boy. Today, he’s 13 years old, and he has come a long way since those early days. He has faced many challenges, but he has also achieved so much. We’re grateful that he can do things today that we never thought would be possible.
